Wtf was that lineup. And once again the subs were so late and couldn't impact the game properly. I'm sorry but I think he has to go.
Time to go. We've all had enough. Refusal to change it up, playing favourites every league game. Done.
If, after 50 minutes or so he'd brought on Sarr, Welbeck and/or deulofeu and change up the formation a bit then I'd probably have been with you. But for the life of me, Chalobah and Success is baffling. If Sarr and Welbeck weren't match fit then they shouldn't be wasting space on the bench. If they are fit then it's farcical and criminal not to have brought them on and much sooner than the subs were made. Baffling.
We know they are fit because they played in the week. Sarr has been in the final of a major international tournament. It's Javi and his stuck in his ways insistence on persisting with his select few favourites.
I think he’s just ridiculously cautious in his approach. It drips through in everything - most subs post-70 mins, some players consistently not trusted to play for 90 minutes, very low commitment to integrating young players... I don’t think it’s just down to him having favourites. It’s just his default setting,
He came in at short notice. We didn't expect much. Then it seemed to work and he gets a long contract. I imagine that the easiest decision is to get rid of him. The hard part is - what next?
I genuinely think Gino might hesitate, due to the contract length. I doubt they'll have any issues identifying a replacement.
Hindsight and all that. Giving the aforementioned players long contracts was obviously stupid at the time though.
Integrating young players is the current trend looking at man utd, Chelsea and arsenal to name a few. Our young players coming through plus recent acquisitions are all performing really well and a couple at least deserve their chance. That team today was stale and old and needs new blood, and we have it available and ready to step up.
We may as well play out the next three matches. We’re going to lose them no matter who is in charge anyway. It will just strengthen the owner’s position for the reason to dismiss. I don’t think anyone will be slaughtering Watford for sacking a coach with the dreadful run of 1 draw and 13 defeats from his last 14 matches. Then there will be an international break which will be the perfect time to replace. I think the decision has already been made a while ago. Of course we may beat Arsenal and get something at City or Wolves. If that happens then thinking could all change, but if we’re honest, we know there’s very little chance of that happening.
I imagine an owner like Gino, who has no issue with changing manager, has that long contract drawn up to include ways out of it. And if not, he spent £40m on Sarr who sat on his hands yesterday. Its costing him more to not act.
I agree with the rational HB1 bit as you say we are likely to loose the next 3 so I would make the change now and give a new Manager this international break, the 3 tough games and the following international break to have as much time to prepare us and get us ready for when we have a run on winnable games
Not a great start for a new manager is it? 3 defeats and instant pressure to turn it around. I think it either should have been before Newcastle...or between Arsenal and Wolves.
Thing is - bar city away, the next 3 games shouldn't be impossible. Arsenal are dreadful away, in fact we're pretty much one of the only teams they've beaten away in a long time. Wolves away - we won there last year, Burnley drew there last week. A decent manager can win these games - we've just resided ourselves to losing pretty much every game under this clown.
If your going to pull the trigger an international break is the best time to give the new guy some time to drill some of the basics missing in this team, like how to pass a ball.
I would normally agree except the fixtures coming up for a new manager puts them on the back foot immediately. Javi deserves a bit more time
