I would dislike this for the fact you didn't capitalise the first letter of Abdi or use PBUH.

I got slated on here in the summer for suggesting Zeegelaar might do OK. He was fantastic tonight. As comfortable on the ball as Kiko, technically good, pacey and linked well with Richarlison. Obviously Wet Spam were complete pants for most of that match so it will be an interesting one if he keeps Holebas out of the side. Cue the moaning if he does. Our bench was strong tonight bearing in mind no Deeney or Jaanmat. Seriously Silva has done wonders with this squad. He would be mad to move on now.

If Messi had done that everyone would be creaming in their pants but because it was Gray, it was miskicked shot at goal. Not a chance, he fully well knew what he was doing, an act of pure class.

West Ham created some excellent chances and but for the Gomes saves and Kabasele's clearance off the line we could have dropped points. However, we controlled most of the match and we're largely very disciplined. The players seemed to play in a way that would minimise slip-ups. Britos was not that great but all the rest put in stonking performances. Gomes' second save with his foot from Arnautovic best I have seen all season. Never mind Richarlison this guy should be back playing for his country.

I'm not usually one for hyperbole but rather than classing the Gomes double save as one of the best of the season, I'd actually say it was one of the best I've EVER seen! Both on and off the field he rates as one of the very best signings of the Pozzo era.

Absolutely loved that game, everyone put a shift in and played well. Gomes saves we just unbelievable, I’m convinced he’s a bit Benjamin Button he seems to be getting younger!

Defence as a whole were very good and eventually nullified Carroll and didn’t let him rough them up or get involved with him too much. Kabasele has come on leaps and bounds and probably has to start when he’s fit. Britos does always look like he has a moment of madness coming and I think he’ll gradually be moved out the side this season. Marriappa has to be the most impressive seemingly just bought back originally because he was cheap and from the club he looks so comfortable in the side, very pleased and happy for him.

Kiko is fantastic, he is always available out on the right! Everytime it got congested in the middle they’d look up and see him free on the right and roll it out to him. Sometimes his crosses can be slightly wild but the fact he is always there and always an option and always getting the ball either in the box or picking a smart pass to the edge of the box then you can allow for the odd dodgy cross.

Zeegelar was brilliant for his debut especially considering he was almost knocked out 10 secs in and had to have his nose blocked up for most of the first half. He looked solid enough defensively and got forward well. When playing one of the big boys especially away having him LB and Holebas in front of him could be a good option to attempt to keep us solid.

The midfield were exceptional! There’s not much left to say about Doucoure but what a player. Cleverley was his usual busy self but Hughes definitely stole the show, he looks such a classy player, so comfortable on the ball even when receiving it with 2/3 West Ham players surrounding him, great instinctive finish for his goal and his passing all game was effortlessly efficient. I really can’t wait to see Hughes, Pereyra and Doucoure in the same side passing it to death.

Richarlison again not much left to say about him but probably the most exciting player we’ve had that I can remember anyway! The fact he can use his right or left has defenders terrified of him and with his reputation growing each week you can tell they are worried about him from the off. I think they keep getting surprised that this young lad from Brazil isn’t someone they can just hack down a couple of times and hope he withdraws himself from the game, he’s got an unbelievable combination of being tough and skilful. I can already see him making better choices with the ball as well, it’s going to be such a shame when we eventually have to let him go.

Gray was decent I thought, worked hard and is very unselfish for the side I think probably to his detriment sometimes. I do think it’ll come for him but he just needs one to drop for him a bit like it did for Hughes. Luckily for him the way we are playing with players all over the pitch chipping in with goals it’s taken the pressure off a bit.

Yep I have to agree with this. I've never seen anything like it. One of the highlights of the season for me. I was one of the ******ous terds calling for his head earlier in the season in favour of the greek chap. Suffice to say I have been self-flagellating since the final whistle.

I hope he is barred from taking training today. Gino needs to show him that he doesn't control anything.

I can take his comments but his voice is so monotone that I wonder what he really likes in life?
Agree with all the superlatives for Gomes.
Those saves were spectacular watching at the game but were incredible on second viewing.

Yeah but you couldn’t have known that. I admire the ‘glass half full’ attitude and the fact you gave him a chance before writing him off like some of us did - I was dubious at best but that was due to there literally nothing positive said about him from people who seemingly knew better about him than us at the time. But I’d say there was not one person who wasn’t pleasantly surprised by his performance yesterday - even yourself if you’re completely honest.

So Gomes makes BBC's team of the week (with Kabasele):

Fair enough - but it's a team of the week "picked" by, that "free-thinking" football commentator, Garth Crooks who manages to prove the exceptionally high level of the impartial intellectual debate that surrounds this country's football "punditry":

Might I suggests that a better "replacement" than Pardew would be the randomiser device from one of my family's favourite games (which could be christened "Alan"):

    OK Alan - Defence:
    Kabasele? <CLICK>
    Proedl? <CLICK>
    Britos <LOUD FART SOUND>

Loved the game yesterday. Great to get back to winning ways.

One of the highlights was hearing the chant about Andy Carroll looking like a horse. Hysterical.

Gomes double save from Arnautovic reminded me of the Jimmy Montgomery heroics for Sunderland in the 1973 FA Cup Final against Dirty Leeds.

    Stunning 'keeping.

It’s so condescending it’s untrue. Silva is too good for us, but an out of work has-been failure would be a great appointment to replace him with. Also **** Watford, encourage another team to come in and steal our manager with less than half the season gone, Watford have to pay for the mistakes of another team who have either made the wrong appointment in the first place, or sacked their manager far too soon.

Just watched the highlights as I didn't have access to the game.
    A couple of comments;
Gomez is just pure class. Seriously saved the points last night with a couple of outstanding saves and a double save that was literally unbelievable.
Andy Carroll is a prize ****. An absouloute **** of an excuse for a human being let alone a footballer.
Well done to everyone that stood up to him and dished it out back to him.

What a performance yesterday after all the speculation about Silva. We truly played some fantastic stuff and at times it was very pretty football and West Ham couldn't get near us. Loved it when West Ham couldn't get the ball out of their half for about 10 minutes in the second half.

I sit in the SEJ stand, so I don't know if it was :-

    He looks like a horse,
    He looks like a horse,
    Andy Carroll
    He looks like a horse.

    or

    You look like a horse,
    You look like a horse,
    Andy Carroll
    You look like a horse.

Either way, it was very funny.
