Even TS in all their weekend score predictions haven't stopped banging on about how good a side Watford are with most going for a draw or a reluctant, narrow 'Pool win.

Another entertaining article about Holly in the Times this morning. Worth the 1.90 alone as it is, as one might expect quite candid and made me chuckle at times when reading it.

    POLL: MEANING OFINSOUCIANT’ ??
Answer 1, 2 or 3 or post your own option:-

    1. Of course I know, I use ‘insouciant’ in my everyday speech and could run off 5 synonyms of its meaning without blinking. :)

    2. I think I know what it means I remember Miss Whittaker used it once in English class referring to my attitude to learning, or something. :(

    3. What the £uckk is that and why would anyone want to use it on a footie forum?Intellectuals will be the first up against the wall come the revolution - just ask Clive. :p

I don't know if gold is particularly breathable, flexible or lightweight enough to be used as a sports kit, however, if it is, then we should definitely cloth our team in gold and diamonds.

Would Miss Whittaker be surprised to feature on a footie forum?

Any further discussion of insouciant would be jejune.

Cannot believe he's dropped Success over Hughes. Also leaving Kabasele out like this is getting ridiculous.

But Mariappa or Cathcart have done nothing worthy of being dropped for? Kabasele got suspended so he has to fight his way back in.

And Success is a striker whilst Hughes is a midfielder? Not sure what you’re getting at?

IMO, Gracia has got his selection spot on today.

Kabasele is our best centre back. Mariappa has done OK, but you don't keep leaving out one of your best players. Mariappa is also painfully limited on the ball.

In regards to Success it's pretty simple - you keep him up top with Deeney and play Deulofeu out wide, where he has spent the vast majority of his career until recently. Hughes has been doing the least of the entire team lately to warrant his place and should be dropped.

I agree that Hughes hasn’t been at his best but at least he’s snappy in tackles and does his defensive work - Deulofeu simply contributes far too little defensively to play as part of a 4 man midfield.

Kabasele may be a better CB than Mariappa. But I would argue that this season, Mariappa has been far more consistent.

Mariappa and Cathcart have done well enough lately to warrant persisting with them until when the pairing inevitably goes t1ts-up again at some point.

However, I agree with you on Success - he's been our best player last couple of games and doesn't deserve to be dropped, certainly not in place of either Deeney or Hughes who have done less of late to justify their spots ahead of him.

On the plus side for today, Gomez is a big miss for Liverpool and they've gone for an incredibly gung-ho line-up - a team with Lovren and TAA in defence, only protected by Henderson, Wijnaldum and Shaqiri in midfield means that there should be goals in this game for us should we be able to get on the front foot.

    I'm predicting a bit of a mad game, 2-2.

He also leaves us exposed defensively because of his tendency to drift so, so far inside, because he isn't at all a natural wide player...

Completely disagree on Mariappa/Kabasele. Seems people have already forgotten the first 5 games where Kabasele was absolutely fantastic. Had a couple of bad moments and hasn't had a look in since, being kept out by an OK at best centre back in Mariappa. I find it bizarre at this point.

That is actually useful for us today given that Liverpool have gone for a fairly narrow three in midfield.

Seeing their lineup has given me hope. They have gone extremely attacking which should expose them to the counter all game. We need to keep it at
0-0 for as long as possible. Can’t afford to concede early. I think Klopp is trying to get them 3-0 up by HT so he can rest players for PSG. Need to frustrate them for this reason alone.

Lovren playing is a massive bonus. He is truly an awful defender and Deeney will have him in his back pocket. This is where Deeney needs to play smart though. Don’t get in a battle with VVD, play off of Lovren every time. He will win most things against him and this will also drag VVD out of position as well to come cover for his terrible partner, leaving them exposed.

Got a good feeling about today.
