Foulquier! Hope we see him get some minutes, he'd be an upgrade on Janmaat and probably Kiko as well from what I've seen.

Watford winning 1-0. Capoue outside the box and it deflects in.

Deeney has had one cleared off the line but QPR did hit the post early on.

Looking at some of these challenges flying in from QPR I think my hypothesis about Doucs and Deulofeu being wrapped in cotton wool could be a valid one.

Never thought I would see him in a competitive game for Watford. Maybe I won't as there seem to be a few in the team / squad today that are likely not to be with us when the season starts. Let's see what happens.

Slightly off topic but still pre season related: not received my ST yet? Have they been sent out?

Success had a good half and a bit today. Probably his best since Wolves away.

I'm aware it's pre-season, so things have to be taken with a pinch of salt. We also finished 1-0 vs them last season and if we can repeat our league performances as well then there can't be massive complaints. Still, here goes:

Foster - had yet another worrying moment misjudging coming off his line vs a quick player, from which we almost conceded. Other than that, fine.
Kabs - not really involved or tested.
Dawson - Looked good in their box, but poor in ours. Misjudged a couple of headers and got dribbled passed easily. Slightly concerning.
Prodl - wouldn't want to use him in the PL given his lack of pace, but actually looked more solid defensively than Dawson. Sharper than I've seen from him for a while. Might be a cup regular.
    Masina - trash.
Femenia - One of the few bright sparks
    Capoue - Class. Standard.
Hughes - playing in a three-man midfield vs Championship opposition, and still looks poor. As soon as any opposition player comes near him he realises he's too slow and weak to evade them, so he throws himself to the ground hoping to get a free-kick, half the time it doesn't work and he just loses the ball. Almost as infuriating as Jurado's backwards passes.
Quina - bright at times, but his passing was a bit sloppy compared to other times I've seen him. Unlike Hughes, when he gets fouled it's actually from the opponent having to take him out.
Success - looked decent overall, however he suddenly disintegrates whenever he gets in the last third, which isn't really what you want from a striker.
Deeney - completely anonymous. What's the point?!

Notable mentions from the team that came on at 60 minutes:

Cathcart looked drunk. Really. What's up with him? Didn't feature vs Leverkusen at all either. Faces a real race against time to be in contention to start vs Brighton on this evidence.
Foulquier - exists. Based on that showing, might as well not for us.
    Sema - not the answer.
Okaka - Only alright, but did more than Deeney in his 30 minutes.

I did not watch the game against QPR so I can not comment on Cathcart's performance today, but he played the full second half against Bayer Leverkusen and was okay in that game.

With that sort of praise I’m putting us down to win the league! We’re going to do a Leicester, and now your going to believe us, we’re going to do a Leicester!

I'm told we won this game 1-0. Got this from a source, will likely break soon.

Disaster as this result undoubtedly is, let’s hope the club do the sensible thing and start building a team capable of getting us promoted back to the Championship in three seasons time.

We've clearly not improved on last season though. Same result, same deflected goalscorer.

Okay, well I only saw the highlights of that one, didn't realise. It's odd that he keeps being paired with Mariappa in his cameos though - he certainly hasn't played a minute yet together with Dawson, which is strange considering that most would have probably expected those two to be our first choice.

He really was all over the shop in his cameo today.

Just got back from Loftus Road .

    What a **** hole .

Makes our **** hole look like a ******* palace .

Probably the only place that has a lower quality gene pool than The Scum .

Still it shows some foresight from Gino and Dux coming to these clubs pre season as we should seamlessly adjust when we have to play them every week next season.

Im going to be honest that wasn't great overall. We won so a positive result but Deeney really needs to up his game. Thank god he was subbed at half time because his head just wasn't in it today. Maybe due to it being a friendly but being shown up second half by Success and Okaka of all players who put more effort in.

Foster is a great keeper overall but some of his kicking and positioning of late has been unerving. Thought kabs played well and so did Quina in places. No argument Capoue was a star today. Bossed midfield and hardly put a foot wrong.

Our defence is still a worry. Overall a result but some players need more mentality.

From where I was sitting - in the south Africa road stand with the qpr fans - he looked dreadful. A certain contender for this seasons scapegoat
