    Having reviewed all the evidence presented on this thread including the man's own musings and individual posters' comments pertaining to them I have come to the somewhat belated conclusion that he's a complete and utter cu.t and I'd gladly kick his f.cking skull in as soon as look at him.

    The same old story , Watford get predicted to get relegated to the championship.
    Then we prove everyone wrong , I can see us scoring more this season .
    We seem to be good in the first half then fade in the second in most matches maybe we should play a more defensive role once we get a good cushion against teams say 2-0 or something .

    Coming to this article slightly late but there is so much to love in it. Highlights:

    Lukaku’s not bright enough to play with Eden Hazard...

    Ander Herrera is one of their best players but he’s a dogger...

    It’s not an issue if you go down too easily in the middle of the pitch – but when it’s to win a penalty, that’s not right, and it must be stopped.

    They’ve put all their eggs in one basket with Andre Gray and I don’t see it working. Burnley played two up front last season and he didn’t score bundles of goals.
    I don’t think Watford will play with two up front, and he might find goals even harder to come by as a result.

    A friend of mine just described Merson as being "like one of those crazy street preachers. Annoying but you just ignore them and their crazy ramblings"

    Seems accurate to me.

    One thing I do find odd is a man with a known gambling issues is basically offering odds on each game!

    Hope the betting pundits do better than he did!!

    Good point - he lost a packet so hardly a great CV for a betting pundit. Would have thought he would have realised that but he is just too dumb to keep his mouth shut

    Paul Merson reminds me of one of my aunts. She has dementia, She just rambles on in the corner of the room and you just avoid and ignore what she would say because it was akward and false.

    She is never right, Always gets mixed up with what she's saying, Past it and not with the times. Kinda like Merson really.

    I don't mind him, he is a comedic foil on the Soccer Saturday panel and plays the role of the idiot quite well and his predictions reflect it. I'd say he is an ex footballer and not an expert in the field just like most ex pros.

    His predictions may well be vindicated we don't know he may change his mind after the first ten games.

    The dislike resonating towards him is almost hitting Martin Samuel like levels.

    The thing is, with me, even if tv pundits say we don't get relegated or say we will be alright, I don't care.
    Same way I don't care if they say we will go down. Its just their opinion.
    The nonsense they spurt out most of the time was the reason i cancelled my sky sports subscription a few years ago. The previews and talk are just rambling nonsense time after time.

    To be fair to Merse he said we were outstanding and definitely won't go down. I suspect his early opinion of us was based on how we finished last season.
