Whatever anyone's opinion of Forestieri is, his value has soared, which has to go down as an error in selling by the club and misjudgement of his potential.

Thank god we didn't apply your infantile logic to Deeney or Ighalo.

Soared because he's played well. If he was here he wouldn't have played and therefore increased at the same rate as everyone else on the bench.

I'd still love to know what people who continue to say that Forestieri isn't a PL player thought of the likes of Cathcart and Watson this time last year. They tend to go quiet whenever I ask.

Are those the two players that had already played over 120 Premier League games between them before they signed?

You mean you don't remember the reaction to their signing?

Maybe they can't work out why you chose two of the few players on our books who actually had PL experience?

Plus both of those two were massively influential in our promotion. FF certainly contributed but more in a take him or leave him sort of way. Was there ever a point where he was first or second name on the team sheet?

Because they were given a chance. The majority of our fans saying that FF couldn't cut it in the PL now would not have been saying that he was less likely to be a success in the PL than Cathcart or Watson this time last year.

I wouldn't say Watson was that influential in our promotion. He played less games than Forestieri that season and people were slating some of his performances that season and calling for him to be dropped. No way would anyone doubting Forestieri's ability to play in the PL be talking up Watson as a PL player before him getting the chance to prove otherwise.

I wish there was some kind of system where we could temporarily give a player to another club, but still retain him.......a bit like a loan.

Who's worth more Ighalo or Foresteri?

If only there was some sort of paperwork which defined e period for which a player was bound to a single club.

True. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't extend to eternal servitude. Unless you're Alec Chamberlain.

He certainly didn't want to leave. Watford thought selling for around £3m was the best option. Whichever way you slice it, they got it wrong.

People were crying that we signed Cathcart because they hadn't seen him play since he was at the Vic.

    It was an emotional reaction.

Many on here have seen Forestieri, seen that he was a backup in the championship, and their opinion is based on that. I wish we had kept him last year, as he would have been a better back up than the players we signed.

But that doesn't mean that he was good enough. Just that our replacements were even worse, and we sold him for peanuts.

I'm not talking about people's reactions when we first signed Cathcart though. I'm talking about last summer after he had had a brilliant season and we had been promoted and people were talking about him like he was an afterthought, saying he wouldn't cut it in the PL and putting together first XI's that didn't include him because people didn't reckon he could cut it in the Prem.

Accidental dislike, but didn't Watson join like half way through the season?

I still don't think Watson can cut it in the PL.

Cathcart was definitely our weakest regular defender last season especially since Christmas so please stop trying to paint him as something he just isn't.

He's no more than a squad player at practically any other PL club so don't idolise mediocrity.

He had a very good season and he is more than good enough to play regularly at PL level. His performance against Arsenal in the cup was probably the best defensive display from a Watford player I've ever seen.

So play him in the cups because in the league his mistakes were almost always costly. Yes he'd be good enough for a few lower PL clubs but to me it's pretty clear he's reached his limits ...

Any Pozzo scouting team would seek to improve that.

    We agree on something!!

Seriously though, totally concur. Fessi often gave the ball away or made incorrect decisions. This was ignored because he performed some moments of magic at Championship level. I'm of a belief that he probably wouldn't be able to replicate those moments of magic against better players in the Prem although I respect those who believe he could.

Derby have apparently made a £7m bid for Fessi today. If true, he's already doubled in value and that's just the opening bid!!

It's an indicator as to his value. Which league the club is in is immaterial.

An added bonus is we can sneak the 7 million loss through under cover of Man Utd losing 90 million on the Pogba debacle.

A good day to bury repurchasing loss news.
