I'm holding judgement on Amrabat (and other players) until I see him playing in his favoured position.

I play chess a fair amount, and if I choose openings that suit my natural game I do well - but if I try openings that don't, I really struggle in the resulting positions to the point where you wouldn't believe it's the same player.

I can only imagine it works the same way in football.

 

I was on my own saying I was glad to see the back of him. But what do I know.

What's even worse is when your bishop gets caught smoking a shisha pipe in Dubai.

Caused me all sort of problems.

What even is his favoured position? He seems a jack of all trades and master of b***er all.

 

He's a winger.

Not a centre forward, nor a kind of play maker with predominantly defensive duties - and definitely not a body for whichever side needs plugging at the end of the game when everyone else is bolloxed.

The fact that he is able to fulfill all these alien roles and still not look the worst player on the pitch says a lot about him, though it probably says more about Jurado, Anya, Ighalo, Nyom and Paredes.

'Winger' is probably the only position we haven't seen him in - and certainly not for any sustained period that would allow any informed judgement to be made. He might well be dog****e, but we simply don't know.

 

I remember him putting in a perfect cross from the right in front of the Rookery - I forget the outcome - but I thought at the time it was a glimpse of his potential.

 

I'd have liked to see him at RM and Berghuis at LM towards the end of last season. Our best play in those games came with Berghuis RM and Amrabat LM, but I couldn't help but think that they'd both have been more effective if they could take on their man and put a ball in, rather than cutting inside and slowing down play.

 

Can I suggest, amongst many crosses, the one he put over for Hogg to head back to Deeney........?

Let's face it, the move has done him good and we have moved on. With the right manager he would have been a great impact player off the bench last season but had he stayed he would not have been used like that.

 

I thought he was disappointing in the PO final against Hull; he was a very likeable guy when he played for us, but he is not quite good enough for us anymore, I wish him luck for the future, but I would not want him back; not that that would ever happen anyway!

How naive of you to think that a thread entitled 'Fernando Forestieri' would be discussing Fernando Forestieri.

 

I was not responding to anyone in particular, I was just commenting on my general opinion of FF!

Really, this thread needs moving to General Football.

We can even have a small ceremony, finally laying his spirit to rest.

When does he join up wth the squad over the Summer? Still think there's a place for him in our squad, done quite well and hopefully the loan spell will have made him mature a bit. We have a good youth prospect on our hands that could one day play for Argentina.

No we didn't sell him, whoosh . We loaned him. We d be crazy to sell a player like that for a few mill .

 

I see Fernando got married at the weekend.

I understand that highgrade was the first to arrive at the venue and the first to be escorted away by police for trespassing.

He turned up, but he threw a strop because someone passed a glass of champagne to his wife, rather than him.

 

After the vows, the bride ran down the aisle but he just walked. Vydra, who was in the background, sprinted after her though. The cad.

 

Now he's married we've not only lost Fessi in body we've also lost his heart. Doesn't even wear our shin pads any more :dismay:

Can't we just loan/sell this thread to SW and stop all this emotional heartbreak ...
