The accounts for this year end on 30th June and should be published by end March 2022 !They never detail the individual sale prices (unless there is only one of course).

So for the last accounts for June 19 we made a £22m profit on selling Richarlison, Zarate and Amrabat.

In the accounts for June 20 due shortly they will detail the profit made on Lukbakio sale-£19m and the cost of buying Sarr, Pusetto, Dawson and Pedro-and how we funded that outlay

Would Watford & Udi be able to get away with transfers between the clubs that are a long way short of market value? I'm no accountant & I could be way off, but I would have thought the football authorities would take a very dim view of it if they did this, as would the Italian & UK governments for potential money laundering & tax evasion.

Also, as HB1 pointed out, if Barca have a sell on clause for Del Boy & they found out we'd sold him to Udi for a knock-down price, they'd get their lawyers on the phone pronto.

Honestly I wouldn't put anything past our owners (or even most football club owners), but don't see how they could get away with doing this.

I think this was the point for me when I started to feel Pozzo really can't be bothered. Complete and utter joke of an appointment in what is / could have been a crucial season.

Borrowed the picture and put it up. Didn’t claim it, said some other genius watford fan created this.

Miles started following me moments later.

Edit: Miles has now unfollowed me haha. Must have read my other tweets haha.

The whole "model" seems to have been based upon being ahead of the field at scouring under-scouted regions to pick up a plethora of cheap talent that either:
generated massive profit after contributing to on-field success
gave 3,4,5 years' excellent service contributing to on-field success before moving on for small profit
never made it at one of the 3 clubs in the network, but generated useful loan fees over numerous years

They are no longer ahead of the field at this, so the top category barely exists; the second category is much diluted; so we are left with the last category, and the quality there is lower than it was as other, more famous, clubs are offering the same potential route to that talent pool.

Whilst openly saying that "realistically" Watford's long term aim had to be to become an established top-30 club. And that was before the creation of the EPL, which he forecast would make that job extremely difficult. Remember, when he took us to the Prem he went on record more than once (when asked whether rumours about signing on-the-way-down star players were true) that he would not sanction any deals that put the financial stability of the club at risk. He was definitely willing to take the "Norwich approach".

The thing is it's more than what's on paper.

If our club wasn't such a festering canker sore, maybe the likes of Sarr and JP would be tearing up the Championship.

We would be top and they would be worth a combined 60m. Go up or sell them.

As it is, we have big, big investment depreciating rapidly. The playing staff are clearly not right and haven't been for 2 years now. There's a culture issue which is as damaging as the financial shortcoming IMO.

Being broke is a problem, but being broke and toxic is a catastrophe and that's where we are.

I wouldn't disagree with much of that. We should be one of the top 4 fighting for the top 2 spots. There's be no guarantee of course that we would finish top 2 but the whole club seems to be a circus at the moment.

    In simplistic terms:

I think the club needs to change its model and identity (whether they are the same thing or not is debatable I guess). The idea that just a creative midfielder and striker will change all this is folly in my eyes - it’ll help and it’s needed but it’s papering over cracks. Get a striker who scores 20 goals, sell him to Everton for £40m - the model underneath remains. There’s far more issues that need dealing with from the bottom up - a couple of transfers would have been band aids, nothing more.

I can’t really think of many clubs who have undertaken such a change without the ownership of the club changing hands.

Perhaps we can keep the owner but everything below him needs ripping up and starting again?

But what simply can’t and won’t happen is fundamental change if the work is undertaken by all those who have plotted our current course.

If all that has happened in the last 24 months hasn’t been enough to force a reevaluation of how we operate, and bring changes focused on addressing the obvious shortcomings, then I honestly don’t know what else could.

If the summer had brought genuine change in how we recruit, and shown evidence of a long-term plan for success, then I’d be willing to accept some growing pains this year. We’ve obviously been hamstrung by COVID to some extent, but Pozzo is the man who handed out long-term deals to the players that are holding us back now. He built this house of sticks, and now he’s got no choice to live in it while it burns around him.

He doesn’t deserve any faith at this point, particularly while there’s no evidence of change.

That’s it’s. All this talk of ‘they deserve a chance to turn it around’, ‘I’m sure Gino recognises the mistakes’ and ‘He’ll know as much as anyone what’s needed’ - it’s utter b0llocks. Because it’s been shown to be false.

The majority may not yet be calling for him to sell up and go - but the owners and board have lost any right to ask fans for patience IMO. If they want to change course, and make fundamental changes, they now have to accept it will be done with a disquiet fanbase watching every step and being openly critical. They had the ability and opportunities for fans to retain faith in them - and were careless with it. Few fanbase’s go into bat for the owner quite as vociferously as Watford fans did. They’ve squandered that.

They could have had it different if they adhered to their own words. But they gambled on telling a lie to the fans and it’s backfired.

He probably should have got someone to copy edit that before sending it/posting it, at least - it's embarrassingly rife with mistakes. Just makes you look a little stupid, and like you're not to be taken seriously, really...

Heat of the moment stuff and anyway they'll just say we tried to get players and COVID has damaged the revenue strem.

They won't admit in public we have had too many average under performing players on too much money.

It was quite the week - the end of a non-event of a transfer window, despite the team screaming out for re-enforcement, a drab performance v a cack QPR, including losing from being ahead, all presided over by a Spanish Butlins Redcoat yes-man.

    No half measures.

Would be interesting to see what the reaction on here would be had we gone down that route when we got promoted. I would think the same people endlessly slagging him off would be doing the same

That’s just a pointless dig isn’t it? No different to me saying I bet if he had done the Norwich route the people on here endlessly clapping him would have done the same.

And then you’d have started whining that people need to grow up.

And it's an easily created myth to consider that Norwich fans were happy with what happened last season as they saw some sort of long game. They didn't. They hated it. They slagged off their owners.

It's not a pointless dig, it's the truth. I try and put positive spins on things but I also have said that mistakes have been made. We seem to have people that complain no matter what except for when we win and their conspicuous by their absence. I don't include you on that by the way
