Quite right. But while I may be happy with my new iPhone as a whole, if there’s a feature that I think could be improved upon that I think is within Apple’s means, I would happily voice that and believe I have a right to as a paying customer. Gino is running a business. And it’s my choice whether or I invest in that business by buying tickets (I do) and merchandise (I don’t). But I think it’s sad when it’s an active policy to have the fans wondering what’s going on at times when a bit of open dialogue would go a long way. I’d be very interested to see if anyone asks the question about new defenders at the ‘At Your Place’ event next week. But I suspect the answer would be diplomatically dodged. I should point out that I’m very happy with our owners and find the overwhelming majority of what they do for the club to be without any reproach at all. But I also don’t buy into the fact that they aren’t allowed to be pulled up upon certain things or questioned.
I think still having Mariappa as first choice centre back allows informed comment. Then again if club objective is just to steer clear of relegation then the season cannot be argued with I suppose. Pozzo is very lucky to have Gracia.
Marcus Thuram who was 'linked' earlier in the window has uploaded this to Twitter: Probably going somewhere else, but its more exciting than a treadmill (just)
Me waiting for the absolute meltdown on here when we sign no-one. P.s I don’t look like that, I’m much better looking.
We've left it late this year but looks like we've found our yearly regen from the Belgian League to sign for a suspiciously inflated fee via the usual agent currently under investigation for money laundering https://www.walfoot.be/fra/news/lis...-va-rapporter-un-enorme-montant-lete-prochain
After the constant stream of piss and drivel you subjected everyone to in the summer , I think pretty much everyone on here's got a right to say 'I told you so' right now Naff. You'll take as much notice now as you will at the end of the season though. #groundhogdaynath
I think the signs are there though if you look for them. Gino's only business is football, he hasn't got billions from outside interests he can plough into the club. So how does he make his money? Through loans to the club from his own investment companies that charge high interest rates to the club. We're amongst the lowest wage payers with one of the lowest turnovers in the Premier League. Our owner's estimated wealth is second lowest out of all owners in the league and we have the second or third smallest crowd. We were looking for outside investment but the other party didn't pass due diligence. All the signs are that we don't have a lot of money to spend. We're probably not in any financial peril but the £40 million from Richarlison has probably been swallowed up by running costs and servicing debt. We're safe and Gino is making a good living out of the club. He doesn't have the resources or inclination to splash the cash, there's no benefit for him. The only time it would be worth the gamble for him would be if we looked like we might go down. We'll punch above our weight and be content to stay up for a while and then eventually we'll go down but at least we won't have bet the house on it and we'll have a nice stadium and better facilities to try to rebuild.
Just another few hours of the transfer window and then Borensy and his virtual friends can go back to swamping the Watford Minecraft forum with their 'contributions'. Stay strong everyone.
As posted by @hornetboy1 in Wilmot's thread, it appears he is on the move to Udinese. https://www.football-italia.net/134061/watfords-wilmot-udinese
The Wilmot move to me sounds like a panic signing for Udinese. The fact he was subbed on last night, and tweeted about moving onto Saturday after the game, suggests this only came about today.
Can someone add a poll asking which 1 position everyone thinks most needs improving? I expect CB would win but would be interested to see what split wingers or strikers get. Maybe even a few votes for full backs or a centre mid if Doucouré looks like leaving.
Here he is. The forums resident GI-Joe... Sorry if I bore everyone. Just thought I’d give some thoughts while we all wait for another of Lizard’s searing, insightful contributions...or while he thinks about what childish insult he’d like to throw that’s designed with the idea of hurting feelings but really just makes him sound like more of a plank each time. Do carry on...
Ante Palaversa [Hadjuk Split - Manchester City] £7m What chance do we have when Man city are now buying player in single millions!
I was wondering whether his inclusion ahead of Chalobah and getting on the pitch (which, let's face it was a surprise to us all) suggested they wanted a look at him before he moved. Wouldn't surprise me that Javi's tactics were governed by Pozzo model shenanigans, rather than trying to get a result.
As always, we won't buy anyone massive because they don't buy in an overinflated January window. Selling in an overinflated market on the other hand, that's good business. So Doucoure for £50m+ maybe, Duelefeu for £30m+, bank it and spend wisely in the summer?!
You're being naive - Gracia would see very little of money made from selling Doucoure and Deulofeu. We'll likely replace them with more Masinas and Semas.
I would have liked us to have added a couple of players (at least a centre back) maybe on loan to make permanent in the summer. Tbh think this is first January we haven't but there isn't a crucial need for us to. I wonder if the B word uncertainty has caused us to be quiet
Expect the treadmill to run off (or maybe float gently away) with anybody who leaves the club who knows our lease arrangement with tbe supplier.
