Anyone into test match cricket can watch New Zealand v West Indies right now on YouTube.

It's the first session of the first day in the 2nd test right now (23:15).

India all out for 36 against the Australians!

They had been on top for the first day or two as well.

First time in test history where all 11 players and extras scored single figures!

Another Surrey legend. Also worked on TMS but best known in the Southern hemisphere as a very knowledgeable voice on the game.. Fantastic bowling average.

Australia skittled out cheaply in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test. India minus Virat Kohli 36/1 at stumps. Tribute to Dean Jones at the MCG as well.

Seems some sides do not care that much about Test cricket. India also fielding a very young inexperience bowling attack in the Fourth Test. Impressive debut from Lawrence batting at number five.

I think they have been hit hard by injuries but no idea how much that has affected their team selection.

Lovely show of sportsmanship from Joe Root who fist bumped the Sri Lankan lad when he came in
at 1 down whose previous scores were 0,0,0,0. You can be a battle hard cricketer and be sporting.

It reminded me of an anecdote in David Lloyds autobiography where he recalls scoring a double ton in his 2cnd test match against India whilst Farooq Engineer was behind the stumps. Farooq was Bumbles teammate at Lancs and was encouraging him to get his head down/concentrate etc but went on to say that if he should stray out of his crease then Farooq would have had the bails off in a flash

They've been decimated by injuries both before and during this series Smudger. A few in the batting department too, as well as Kohli only playing the 1st test before going home to see the birth of his first child.

Cheers mate. :) I as you probably know don't follow cricket intensively anymore. Fell out of love with it and how it was developing as a global sport. Just had the look at the scorecard and saw Bumrah and Ashwin for instance were missing . Assumed India were rotating their players.

Like you my interest is waning but I've been watching some pre-lunch & the last knockings of the evening sessions from the Aus/India tests and players missing from both sides has been a common theme.

Both Bumrah & Ashwin picked up knocks in the previous test so were ruled out while right arm quickie Navdeep Saini is a doubt to bowl in the 2nd innings after picking up a groin problem while bowling in the Aussies 1st innings.

A lot of test cricket this calendar year so may see a bit of rotation. England play 16 test matches in a year! I bet Kohli and Bumrah play when England go to India!

Nothing beats Test cricket in my view. Sadly many don't have the patience for it these days.

    Great win for India.

They really have dug themselves out of some holes and really been fantastic in the final innings of tests particularly after what happened in the first test .

Yes fantastic test and a great win for India given the absentees. Good to see the Aussies getting beaten at home, esp after the needle in the last test.

As I said I don't follow cricket with any rigour. Even failed to see this building up but as you say a great match. I don't know what it is. Perhaps the pressure of work, family means one does not have the time to devote to numerous sports as one once did. Certainly no glorious summers listening to the dulcet tones of CMJ and the gang all day or staying up late to hear of what the touring team are up to. This format they are considering of reducing Test matches to four days should be laid to rest by matches like these.

It’s just a product of ageing and greater responsibilities, I think. Test cricket does demand a great deal of one’s time. It’s worth it, though: well, some of the time at least...

    Not a good start.
    Chasing 389 Sibley gone and we're 4-1.

    2 now.

Our lack of experience at the top in these conditions is going to be badly exposed batting wise in India .

Going to have to rely on Root a lot .

    Yes,R&B steadying the ship somewhat.
I heard on the 5LX commentary yesterday that The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed between Columbo and Galle.

    Heroic innings from Root.
Exhausted which no doubt contributed to his downfall.

Mark Wood's fault. If he just defended for 10 minutes Root wouldn't have felt he was running out of partners and needed to play a few more shots. Instead Wood goes for the slog and gets out, the idiot.

    Escalated quickly.

Spinners doing the business but sure we will make any target look tricky with their spinners on a turning wicket.

Almost a 50/50 call now. Maybe SL still have a small advantage but if we could get to 50 with only one down that would reverse.
