I am aware that this is a generation issue and cricket needs to widen it's appeal however I see t-20 as a manipulated game much as I see WWF as not real .
Ian Bell retires. One of the unsung players in that successful England side of the mid 00s to early 2010s.
A good Test is still by far the most exciting form of the game, but T20 can be fun too, last night was brilliant
Agreed. I would just question why it has to be ‘exciting’. The point of Test cricket is that it is a test of concentration, skill and technique over a long period of time. There will be exciting moments and sometimes exciting finishes but you don’t need those to appreciate the sport.
I do agree to some extent it is just that I find t-20 a manipulated event . For example if you just wanted to win a match of t-20 and you could select any bowler you like from history then surely "flat Jack" Simmons would be opening your attack and would say to the likes of Chris Gayle " dig that one out son !". But then there would be no event if the bowlers came out on top .
Flamboyant Dean Jones has passed away aged fifty nine in Mumbai. I remember when growing up his panache and the smears of sun cream on the face. Here Jim Maxwell beloved of TMS recalls his memories of Jones. Also will be sadly missed by those at Derbyshire CCC. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/29958649/former-australia-batsman-dean-jones-dies-aged-59
Yes! Great documentary, especially if you remember that superb West Indies team. All put in the context of the significant social change that was happening then and is still so relevant today. Highly recommended.
IMO the greatest team of an era . I am aware that some will champion a later Australian team and I could not argue against that however that Windies team was the best AFAIAC and Sir Viv the greatest batsmen ever!! FTR and for balance if the Holding\Close encounter ended up in the car park only one winner . And it would not have been the bowler !.
Lovely man and good cricketer but was not as good as the others of his generation - sobers, holder, boyce and they also played a spinner in lance gibbs in those days
