Didn't know if you had one of these for every club in the league's transfers to keep you updated.

We've apparently bid 3m for Lewis Grabban and we've secured the free transfer of Valladolid striker Javi Guerra. He has scored 15 goals in La Liga this season yet still wants to honour the pre contract he signed in January! A bit chuffed by signing him, especially on a free!

Any transfer news from your end??

We will send him down your way. ;)

Not quite sure where he is mind - haven't heard anything of him since the first game of the season.

Don't get too excited by signing foreign players, half them turn out to be sh*t

We were thrilled to sign Acuna a year ago. He went back to Spain in the New Year.

Aye but you don't score 15 goals in Spain's top league and not be able to cut it in the Champ at least. Stoke wanted him but he's said he wants to honour our earlier deal.

We thought the same about playing for Real Madrid B.

That's a division below where Guerra is playing. A lot of them players don't make it from Madrid and Barca 'B' teams.

Iriney had played over a hundred times in La Liga and still couldn't cut it

At 32 though coming from spain it'll first be hard for him to get up to the fitness level the championship requires and then to fit in with the team and to suit the style of the championship. Lots of things to overcome but you're right you don't score goals in a top flight unless your good, and if you're good you can overcome those things with the right manager.

Agreed but seen as he is a free agent he will be here from June 1st. That should give him plenty of time to get up to scratch.

Sounds like a good signing, FRB. Will keep an eye out for him next season.

    this Javi Guerra?

    from Wiki
    Cardiff City[edit]
Guerra joined Cardiff City – who eventually suffered relegation to the Championship – for a fee of around €2 million, on a two-year deal

OK Wiki can be ****e at times...but....

To be honest (not just saying this as a dig towards your new signing), there's not a whole lot of difference between Adelante teams and the bottom 8 or so teams in La Liga.

But there's a difference in their opposition, this guy has scored a lot this season in a league with tougher teams

The jealousy in this thread is unreal. Any player who scores 15 in La Liga will be a good player at this level.

I think you are confusing cynicism with jealousy.

I think FRB is confusing us with people who give a 5hit what happens at Cardiff.....

Fabbrini has played for Italy. Iriney has played over 100 La Liga games. Faraoni has played in the Champions League for Inter Milan. I wouldn't say jealous, just sceptical following our own experiences with high level players. I know very little about Guerra, like pretty much everyone on the forum (including the Cardiff guy), but I don't think it's unreasonable to not expect a 32 year old, playing outside of Spain for the first time ever, won't set the division on fire.

We have had a 3m bid accepted for Lewis Grabban. In Cardiff tonight for talks.

Seen Brighton have released a lot of players too.

Have to say, 3m for Grabban seems extremely low compared to what I would have expected them to sell him for.

What would you pay for him then?
26 yo, spent most of his career in League 1. His highest goal tally in a season was last year with Bournemouth so perhaps he is coming into his prime. But will Cardiff give him that platform, will he be a regular starter like he was at Bournemouth?
I think he will bag 15-20 goals tops but only as a regular starter. Not prolific enough like Frazier Campbell at this level, i guess Cardiff will be shipping him off back to the Prem.

Hmm, not sure. I think Wigan will due to Rosler being an excellent manager.

Ole's not great as a manager.

Marshall could leave, Caulker will go, Medel will go, Campbell will go, Noone could possibly go and Mutch may go.

They'll have good striking options in Guerrera and Grabban but think they'll need a lot more.

I also think players like Andrew Taylor who have now tasted top-flight football will struggle to motivate themselves once again.

Plus an inexperienced manager who's never tasted championship football.

I avidly follow Spanish football & can safely say that Javi Guerra is a GOOD goalscorer. Consistent across multiple seasons too. My only worry if I were you would be his age. He's 32 so he's definitely past his 'peak years' in terms of athleticism. He may only last a couple of years & logic dictates that he is more than likely to only depreciate both in terms of his footballing ability & sell-on fee of course. On the other hand, I consider him part of the brand of "fine wine" footballers. If you research his career he's only become better with time.

Regardless of whatever happens, 1 goal every 2 games in a relatively crappy Valladolid outfit is something to get excited about for sure. I just hope he doesn't score against the 'Orns!
