Anyway, its a pointless signing unless we're doing the old Football Manager tactic of signing players on a free and selling them for a few mil in the same window

 

Has come in specifically to replace Andre as the club and fans forum boo boy. He has got big shoes to fill.

 

The thing with Andre is that he scores goals. Not as often as we'd like but a lot more often than our other strikers apart from JP. Him and JP are the only 2 strikers in our squad that have any realistic chance of scoring from open play in a game. It would b great if Feltcher turns into a PL striker but the odds of it happening are remote. If we are looking for upgrades on players like Success and Lazaar rather than making PL ready signings we are punching below our weight.

He doesn't score enough goals. Wasted his career so far. Can he change his big time charlie attitude? I very much doubt it.
We have move chance of seeing Fletcher and Success on a night out in Town than on the pitch.
He must have one hell of an agent to get a contract with a Premier league side.

This is surely in the top 5 worst pozzo signings given the circumstances. But Gino is happy, he’s brought in a striker on a free and can get rid of perica for a million or two

He doesn't though does he - 21 in 126 appearance for us is a goal every 6 games, that's just appalling

For comparison

Troy 140 in 417 = 2.9

Ighalo was 39 in 99 = 2.5

Fletcher (using his Boro appearances) 28 in 108 = 3.8, hardly anything to write home about but still far better stats than Gray

Need to look at goals per minute not per appearance. Need to take into account the leagues the goals are scored in. Gray has massive shortfalls in general team play but I believe his goals per minute are not that bad and in the Prem. Happy to be shown to be wrong though. Has a good instinct to get on the end of things.

 

Gray doesn't fit a 433 and we're kidding ourselves to think he does. Neither does Troy.

433 needs a complete forward, who can be a target man but has pace, movement, has an all round game and can do everything well.

JP is that player, but is very young.

I don't know if Fletcher is that player, but I sure as heck know Gray isn't. Period.

 

He’s free and I doubt we’re paying him much so it’s a non event.

Well he’s had his entire career to date.

 

We’ll be paying him a salary 99.5% of the population would bite your arm off for.

 

Fletcher is a more flexible player than Gray being able to play across the front 3 I would imagine.

Gray had one good season for us when he earnt us a number of points with late goals off the bench. But the last two seasons he's spent most of it injured or offside. And I can't imagine his repeated breaking of lockdown has done him many favours behind the scenes.

 

He needs a chance to be included in this remarkable stat. We should revisit this next Summer.
I'm not a fan of the signing in fairness but he's ours now and he will get my backing.

I'm shocked that Boro fans think he has a bad attitude. Why would they think that of someone who turned down a contract to stay at their club?

 

Except you are doing it by games rather than minutes and including Troy's penalties as well as the goals he scored years ago when he was good. I assume u r being intentionally misleading rather than stupid.

It appears that most Boro fans would have gladly paid for his taxi to another club.
The laughter on hearing that we signed him can be heard all over Teeside.

 

If you want to provide us all with a highly detailed statistical breakdown minute by minute of how great Gray is no one is stopping you
