I'm glad, they need something to be happy about up there.

Our striking options from last year were based on performance levels were:

    1. Talented but inconsistent teenager
2.Occasional goal threat but offers nothing in build up play. Confidence destroyed.
    3. Club legend that now barely moves around the pitch and offers no goal threat
    4. Comedy footballer with about three good performances in five years.
    5. Beanpole that fell over lots but could get into the right positions occasionally.

I'd say Fletcher goes straight in at number 2. If we get a new number 1 too then this signing is fine.

No chance! Most of those were cheap punts.

Oulare, Sinclair, Peñaranda, Success and Navarro. All cost money and Premier League first team wages and have contributed absolutely naff all between them.

Diakaté will always hold a special place in my heart for most catastrohpic performance I've seen.

Not 'highly detailed' u simply divide the number of minutes by the number of goals. You said Andre scores 1 in 6 - this is highly misleading data manipulation. Andre has scored 19 league goals in 4883 minutes for Watford. That's a goal every 257 minutes. 1 in less than 3 games not 1 in 6. Our worst season with Andre was 19/20 when we got relegated. He only played 747 minutes that season. There's a strong argument that if Andre had played the whole season we'dve stayed up. According to his goalscoring record over 4 seasons in the PL he would score 10-15 goals from open play if he started every game and 15-20 if he also took penalties. Andre haters focus on his 1st touch and the chances he misses. Andre defenders focus on the number of goals he actually scores and how many minutes it takes him, his fantastic movement, how he contributes to the team system and very significantly how many goalscoring chances he creates out of nothing.

I agree with the Gray haters that if Andre gets an open goal from 5 yards out there's absolutely no way of knowing if the ball will end up in the net or in row z. But equally anyoldcun£ with an abacus can see that season after season regardless of the quality of the opposition Andre will score 1 in 3. He doesnt score 1 in 3 by having a good conversion rate, he scores 1 in 3 cos he knows where to be to have a shot on goal. He has the priceless gift of being in the right place at the right time. If his finishing was as good as his movement he wouldn't be playing for Watford.

I agree with Troy that there's a racist aspect to Gray hating, there's something about a tough mixed race ex gang member earning 65k a week with a flash car, a big house and a superstar girlfriend that some of the fat white bald middle aged small minded fanbase cant handle.

Troy has also hinted that some of the abuse he gets from Watford fans may be due to racism. Sorry Troy, but the abuse u get is cos u r an immobile striker who never scores from open play and yet u think own the club.

If Andre leaves and Troy stays it would be a travesty of mindboggling proportions.

Probably best to steer clear of accusing people of being racist in their dislike of Gray. We have plenty of players with different backgrounds who are loved by fans. I don’t think the colour of their skin comes into it for 99.9% of Watford fans.

Maybe Gray would get more goals over time and yes he pooped up with a few goals when Munoz came in but his all around play is very poor.

Deeney for example got 20 goals in his last few Championship seasons when at his peak like Gray should be.

If Gray is that much better should he not do the same - or are we saying Troy was better at Champ level in his prime than Gray is?

Are they not both black men from tough backgrounds who have had issues with the law and gangs earning lots of money ?

Should there be any difference except one is a modern day WFC legend albeit past his best and the other probably the worse signing in the history of our club?

‘But Success and Penaranda didn’t cost anything because we shared finances with their former club at the time….’

    Or something along those lines.

    Gray is pony

    So is Troy

    They both are

It has nothing to do with their colour, its because they're pony

The best transfer window we could possibly have is they both f*** off

Some good points. Dont think the dislike is racism though. Ive defended him for unfair comments but racism never crossed my mind.
Think some folk just dont like him and would jump on every miskick or misplaced pass when others who did the same we just got silence in comparison. And his life outside of football irks some even though its got nowt to do with pitch matters.
Regarding your last point yes i would rather Deeney go out of the two if one went but ideally I'd like an upgrade on Gray as well now that we are promoted.

I’m still debating in my head which is Gray and which is Success out of numbers 2 and 4.

I think we may start next season with the strikers we have today. Good strikers are expensive and I can’t see us spending what’s required to buy one.

So as I predicted, Fletch is a goal machine. He's already scored against Millwall, something Deeney, Gray, Success, Perica, King, Cucho and Pedro failed to do last season. Looks like we have our new starting striker ladies and gentleman.
