Lovely piece on their forum re the note which was passed round in the 2nd half! You want to know when it's bad....Today we had the ignominy of watching a Premier League team passing a note around to work out a formation. Not only passing it around but watching as players read it in disbelief, stared at each other pointed and tried to work it out, passed it on, Smith visibly shaking his head while reading it - five players it went to all of whom had to try and work it out while a televised elite league game was happening around them. If every you doubt that we don't have a Premier League coaching set up - and that doesn't change your mind - then nothing will.
To be fair the commentator did say a solid 8/10 all round, with Deeney just edging it. Not sure what game these other guys were watching. Quina gets the same rating of 6 as Capoue as well which is weird. Nothing against Quina but he only played a handful of minutes.
I'd be very worried if I was a Bournemouth fan. The biggest indication that all wasn't right was the lack of diving and surrounding the ref. It's normally where they derive their energy from and how they get their fans going. Today there were only a couple of ambitious tumbles from Harry Wilson and Lerma had a half hearted effort at winding Doucoure up but it was all a bit flat. It's a fundamental part of their game plan and it's gone missing, almost like a realisation that gamesmanship won't be enough to keep them up.
It’s been a few hours, still really happy - which is unusual for me (I’m a miserable ****) Think next week will be hard and can see us going back into the relegation zone, but who knows. We looked solid and organised every player knew what their job was. Bournemouth looked the total opposite they were easy to play against as they were not physical enough and kept trying the same things even though it clearly wasn't working for them. We wont get many away games as easy as that one.
You wonder whether that is the end of the great Eddie Howe as manager of Muff. Hopefully not as they look nailed on for relegation at the moment
I reckon Javi could be parachuted in & might do a half decent job at Muff. Knowing exactly how it feels, for some unknown reason I actually felt a little sorry for Eddie in the post match interview, he looked & sounded totally dejected, lost for words & bereft of ideas. Any other PL manager would have had the sack by now & it's not healthy long term for any club to have a manager who is virtually untouchable. Strangely, I am not as ecstatic about beating them as I thought I might, just another much needed win & at this stage big or small, I don't care who we steal 3 points from. Just focus on us now & we should be ok.

Taking charge in the centre of the pitch Delefeou, Dangerous and lively Chalobah, ok, he surprised me. Looks to be saving his career Sarr, has bags of pace and attitude. Could do more, slows the game down too many times, but that could be due to no one can keep up. Did well today Deeney, loads of running and bullied their backline. Buried his chance with power. Bournemouth were awful. At one point, they had 7 players defending their own goal kick - terrible. We out fought, out muscled and out played them.
I don’t get playing out from the back and crossing balls to the goalie. Doesn’t work and is dangerous

I am with you , it’s fine if you are Man City or Liverpool but for teams without that skill level it’s insane. Muff just couldn’t get it away enough and kept giving it away in dangerous areas, if they had booted up pitch at least they would have had more chance. Also not a good tactic with a novice goalie.
I'd say that Bournemouth's problems stemmed from a good deal more than trying to pass it from the back. A lot of their players looked unfit during the second half and they were even giving the ball away in our half in the final half hour! I don't mind us playing from the back as it gives us a better chance to create good opportunities than just hoofing it up which at best gives us a 60-40 chance of winning it back, but it would be risky against the better teams so we'd need to mix it up more.
Whatever bonus big Nige is on to keep us up, certainly seems to be motivating him to make sure he gets it!

Yeah I thought that as well that Nigel told Doucs to explain to Sarr why he had been taken off, as Sarr clearly did not understand what Pearson said and was not happy at being substituted.
Does anyone know how many penalties Muff have got in the 1st VAR season compared to the last 4 seasons and also how many of their opponents' players have been sent off compared to the last 4 seasons? Has VAR really made a difference? Seems like King being injured and Wilson off form plus loads of other injuries and their habit of going on winning and losing streaks have also had a big impact.
I think it's part of golden boy's "big 6 CV" showing to the big boys that he can play football "the right way". It's madness for Muff and one of the reasons they have always conceded lots if goals. I think their next 3 games are something like Norwich, AV, and Brighton. 3 six pointers right there but does mean one way or the other that points will be earned by clubs in the bottom 6.
