The dullest game I've seen for many a year. A soporific yawn of a half-hearted exhibition match in which our team played the part of submissive, bumbling point fodder. The fact that they managed to get more than 75,000 gullible innocents to pay handsomely to watch it is a triumph of marketing over common sense. I hope very much to not have to see the following in a yellow shirt ever again. Holebas, J. That is all.
Agreed. I wouldn't be booing because not sure I care enough but I also don't think the celebration was a good idea. Ah well! Don't remember that! Maybe it's a reference to Marlons current occupation as jailmate?
I agree. This next phase of play thing is farcical. How can Rashford get an advantage like that from being patently offside? In the scenario you mention why is the keeper parrying it not a new phase of play if something as simple as a pass to Mata triggers one. I give up on trying to interpret this nonsensical rule.
So if Mata shoots and Rashford pops it in it is offside but if mata passes to him it is onside? I’m sure you are right but what a ******ous rule.
Agreed. Had Mata shot and the ball rebounded off Gomes to Rashford, the player would have been offside. Because he passed it to him, he was onside. It's a ludicrous rule.
As I understand it that's not quite right. If Mata shot when he went through, and Rashford was still behind him (or rather, the ball) when he took his shot, Rashford wouldn't be in an offside position if there was then a rebound to snaffle up. But if Carrick had shot from 50 yards instead of lofting the ball over the top to Mata, and the ball then rebounded out to Rashford off of post, bar or keeper, Rashford would have been penalised for being in an offside position. The whole rule is ridiculous these days. So difficult to unpick.
No no! My point was let's have a fair debate! Credit Javi for the good he's done, but not gloss over the not so good purely to suit an argument! Anyway, we've both made our points and as i always do, I've enjoyed debating with you. And now it's the summer!
Can’t understand why it needs to be so over-complicated, that’s the thing. If you are in an offside position and the ball goes near you, you’re offside for me. As it was if Mata had run through on his own, no offside. The minute Rashford decided to get involved, the play was offside. That’s how the rule should be.
I think the contentious point is that the ref 'deemed him to be not interfering with play'. When the ball was lobbed forward he was in an offside position - he turned and ran from that offside position towards goal as Mata ran past him & before Mata collected the ball, gaining the clear advantage of being unmarked when Mata actually did pass it to him. If that's not deemed to be interfering I don't know what is - and that's something that clearly needs to be stated in the rules. I've always understood that movement towards the ball from what's deemed to be an offside position was offside.
But is that the preferred format of the owners? Presumably there was some input from QSF towards getting Suarez and Jurado, Saliva and Carillo - no trees were pulled up. Does the coach not have to fit the system, rather than him dictate it? One may not approve of this, but it seems to be the way it ideally is; (I suppose the above-mentioned players were sops to attract a wavering coach.(?)).
Hey ho; you're probably right. Some people just need to grow up a bit. Maybe flick a v-sign or something and then move on. There are people who are just looking to have a grievance about practically anything.
Yep. Although there is also the possibility that if it is Man U at home it will by default be a Man U goal.
So you've met some of our ladies second team players then?! Try John Lewis, they have most items and very pleasant 'partners'.
Well, We've had a coach trying to play 4 at the back having to make do with wing-backs and vice versa, and maybe Garcia would have preferred to have had better striking and defensive options rather than having to rely on an all-star midfield bailing us out
Yes that's exactly what we should judge him on as well as the wins and overall performances home and away. Or maybe just take the mick out of his appearance at every opportunity if that's your level
I'll not give the game away, but I like to keep a few on my little wall at the office and it looked sh*t when I put it up today, (if you can even find it). The Spurs at Wembley ticket is much better quality. Big club? You're having a laugh.
I am now reading its the same as last year at £108.4m as we were on TV less times so only got £12.5m which is the same as Huddersfield/Swansea/Stoke and Burnley. So despite £5m more in place money for finishing 14th we actually earnt less than Saints who finished 17th as they were on TV more-only the 3 relegated clubs and Huddersfield earnt less than us
