He had, I said earlier in a group chat my feeling around this potential appointment is similar to how I felt when we hired Joka and that turned out well. Although Joka's CV didn't have high profile clubs on it, his win record at every club was great which provided some optimism. This guy has managed 11 games and got tanked 6-1 by a team from the Faroe Islands in the Europa League, I find it hard to believe that the Pozzos can see enough from 11 games in Georgia to picture this guy as a head coach for a Championship team. I might very well be wrong again (especially as i've not seen any of their games!) as I was with Joka, but I cannot find the reasoning behind it.
Another potential positive - Dinamo Tbilisi's home ground has a capacity of 54,000, but an average attendance of 1,600... so he's used to getting results from teams in empty stadiums!
Fair point, but that year we had a hugely talented squad which wanted to get promotion and had the decency to fight for absolutely everything. This current crop appear to lack any desire or take ownership. If he is our new manager, I hope the coaching team appointed around him gives us hope! Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
I should have been clearer with my post, because it wasn’t supposed to be an endorsement of Xisco, just pointing out the similarity alone with Joka being a name that at first seemed well out of left-field. Which in itself, really means nothing at all. Agree with all the points made above.
I agree mainly - but surely even Cowley or Paul Cook are a safer pair of hands than this guy? Given Cook he said he wants to work for team where promotion is the target, I can’t see why he would not be interested. This smacks of Gino panicking and hiring one of his agent buddies clients. Lesson’s will be learnt after last season? Utter b0llocks.
It's more likely that I will find God, win the lottery and develop a cure for Covid all in time for 2021, than this guy getting us promoted.
Don't forget Steve Gritt. Without Gritt Curbs is like Morecambe without Wise, Johnson without Cummings, Pozzo without common sense and so on.
Yes cowleys who did well at Lincoln and got sacked by Huddersfield. Cook who has done little in his career to date and managed Wigan who struggled in the champ (I accept they shouldn’t have been relegated). Neither are exciting prospects, that was my point. We were always going to get an uninspiring unemployed guy with some experience or a complete unknown. We got the latter.
You can only assume that the Pozzos trawl the middle aisle of Aldi and Lidl each week and buy a load of **** but once every six months they buy something that’s actually useful. Their managerial appointments seem to be based on the same system.
Look at Cook’s win-ratio. And read up about his style of play. And look at how gutted his previous clubs fans and players have been to see him leave. Won the league at Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan and won domestic trophies in Ireland at the start of his managerial career (yes it’s FAI but it’s immeasurably better than the Georgian league). I respect your opinion as always - but not sure how you can say he’s achieved ‘little’! He’s worked his way up and has earned a decent opportunity. He would be a FAR better choice that it’s almost untrue.
And he is a very nice man. Having seen what the Muppets are doing at the club I think even he would steer clear despite the potential quick renumeration.
Will be easier when it comes to "firing the Cisco". Whoever it is will be wary of taking on such a "high-voltage" job.
Won't happen - why would Joka be that bothered to get us promoted again knowing that he'll be given the boot as soon as it happened?
Someone who manages in the Kyrgyzstan League. Gino uses FM Global and his next manager will be wait for it......Alexander Krestfallen. Only lost one game last season , almighty goal difference and ran home with the domestic tea cups. Lump on now. I love watching Dordoi Bishkek. What a team, what a name. Bishkek, Bishkek We play it on the deck No one beat us Even if they park the bus Bishkek etc, etc.
We do need a manager of the month award sponsored by some local recruitment agency. What was a crude caricature of the club in the national press and other supporters is fast becoming a reality. Joke of a club.
Not sure about that, he might have a sense of humour but looks a bit of a nutcase - similar to Gattuso or Diego Simeone:
Our very own Deep Space NINE.......Get it ? What a sad day in the history of this proud club. 139 years and we have been saddled with a bunch of mercenaries and muppets.
Once this muppet without the right qualifications has his marching orders I’ll apply to become his replacement. I’ve a great record at u-10 level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
