Vladimir Ivic - Sacked

I told you all I had a curse put on the club after the cup final. When will the penny drop?

    Deeney will never leave.

Ivic has fallen foul of player power - it was always going to be the case that either we lost the troublemakers or him.
No `Manager` will take this job as the current structure does not allow them to manage - interference is rife even down to monitoring of training effort which is relayed back to the owners.
So a Coach who will accept players in the pool, with no recruitment influence will have to make the best possible job of what he is given.
With the possibility that we lose the players we should retain, and retain the players we should get rid of in January - we are hardly likely to attract the type of individual that has a pedigree of UK performance.

One report, which I read, suggested that Muñoz could only be an assistant coach if he comes to Watford because he does not have the necessary coaching qualifications for a head coaching license.

'Players were also left frustrated when they were told on more than one occasion that they would have to stay at hotels after some away trips prior to warm-down sessions the following day rather than being allowed to go home for a night in their own beds'

This part from Leventhal's article interested me. It was clear in Foster's cycling GK vlog from the Brentford game that the players had driven to the stadium, then they boarded a coach to go to The Grove and then back to the stadium for the game and then back to The Grove afterwards where they apparently stayed.

What a weird way of handling an evening home game. Foster even said that they had their cars so they could go home after the game. And then he didn't go home. Made a real point of it I thought.

Club don't seem to mind ******* money away for pointless overnight stays at five star resorts.

Happy enough. A 'let's see' approach.

Also paints Ivic as a pretty complex character in my opinion.

S0 they fell out because they didn't find each other basically and probably clashed such in the egos involved?

The owners or rather their right hand men getting involved at half time again?

I was surprised we kept staying in hotels for home games and the likes of Wycombe away too.

Thing is, from that article, it doesn't actually seem like Deeney did anything particularly wrong...for once!

There's a lot of detail in that incident though which is pretty much between the two of them...suggests to me that Deeney has directly sourced Leventhal.

I did see that, but the Athletic article that's just come out makes clear that he has an A-licence, which is enough to coach in the Championship.

I don't know why they'd be briefing for him so hard in said article if it wasn't going to be him, considering basically everything in the article must have come from the club itself. Would be a huge gamble and not a particularly inspiring one, though I'd love to be proven wrong. The Georgian league is currently ranked 40th by UEFA coefficient - shockingly poor.

It's more that the club have been doing something wrong in failing to replace him.

Haven't we all?! This seemed clear to me at the time, with Ivic always keen to emphasise the other players in the squad; it's one of the reasons I'm disappointed he didn't manage to get it right on the pitch.

There must have been more to it than this - it hardly seems worthy of a massive falling out over.

    This is not a surprise.

It's been true for a while, but the board have been too slow in freshening up the squad and instilling a new sense of purpose.

This seems a decent sign if it is to be Munoz.

The trouble with the articles being put on the internet is if you read one it talks about a falling out of players and nothing about board getting disillusioned on manager tactics and/or team selection, and other ones that mentions just the players fallout and in particular Deeney.

Either way in my opinion a manager will never be able to manage this club properly the way things are.

So Munoz likes 4-2-3-1 does he?. That means we will have Deeney on his own up front like last season under Pearson. I spose hoofball is one way of getting the ball in the opposition half ;)

Apparently it's worked wonders in his 11 games as manager.

We should have given away the bad eggs in the summer rather than holding out for a fee. Do it in January and at least give the new man a fighting chance.

******* hell, I know he is boring, but we have only lost three matches , we are 5th and 4 points of automatic.

We are now going to be in turmoil for a month with a new manager coming in - think this is more likely to **** up our promotion campaign then keeping Ivic.

We're half way through the season, we've scored one goal from open play in six games, hardly ever look like scoring, there's potentially more players coming (as unlikely as that sounds) and most of the fans think the downward spiral has begun.

I don't think many will say sacking Ivic was Gino's biggest mistake.

I mean, the silly **** brought on two fullbacks when we were 2-0 down yesterday. Lol.

He lost four games, and I don't think there was an issue with sacking Ivic. He got a lot of lucky results during his time. Should have lost at QPR and Wycombe. There were so many games where we got the rub of the green. The first decision that's gone against us incorrectly was the winning goal against Brentford. Until then we had a charmed life.

The style of play was horrendous and not improving. It was very clear we wouldn't have got into the top two playing like we were and Ivic seemed incapable of changing it. He was far too cautious and wedded to his beliefs. Far too stubborn. You do have to be flexible enough to learn and adapt. He didn't appear to be this.

Have you even read the article? We were in a false position and falling...with things behind the scenes almost guaranteeing that would happen.

Nope literally came on here , looked at the headline and thought what the **** , also to be fair didn't see yesterdays game, was in a pub garden outside freezing my arse off.

Well at least we have an identity in football, we are the team that swaps mangers every half season.

As a happy clapper I will get behind any new manager we get in and at least it cant be Sam Allardyce

Your summary of results where we were lucky or got the rub of the green could apply to any team at any time in any division if fans bothered to dissect it. Not saying he should've stayed after the behind the scenes unrest reported yesterday I'm just saying there are always 'moments in games' as Ruud Gullit used to say (and probably still does).

Out of interest, would you be happier with a worst position in the league, mid table for example, if the football style is more to your liking?

That statement from Duxberry is crazy. Manager unhappy with a player, drops player then gets sacked because that player is the hierarchy’s golden boy?!
