So we welcome back 2 players that weren’t involved at the weekend - yet still have 2 GK’s on the bench?

Utter joke of a squad when it comes to balance/depth.

Also, think it’s time to accept Hughes may well be off. Just think there’s too many excuses and times he’s simply not there. And then he plays just a few minutes when he is available. Too many coincidences.

And questions have to be asked about the reasons why Capoue is repeatedly overlooked. Whether it’s him or the club, something isn’t right.

 

More like nobody for him to get the ball to - expect 65 minutes of Sarr bombing down the right wing to cross it in to an empty penalty box for the gazillionth time in recent history until Perica eventually comes on.

That could still be the case, but if he was one of the players with covid there's no chance he would have been back in time for this game anyway.

Only hope is that Brentford decide not to play with a midfield.

 

Not a Ivic fan but I’m not sure what choice he has regarding the midfield. Hughes probably has COVID and Capoue clearly doesn’t want to be here judging by his ‘efforts’ when he’s played. Caps is probably my favourite Pozzo signing but he’s a liability at present

 

If this happened, and that was the action we took, we'd have to start worrying about Swansea style asset stripping rather than just a dodgy coach.

I find his continued absences a bit baffling and yes, at face value implausible/suspect, but if there was a single one of our players who I wouldn't suspect that of it would be Hughes, especially as he has literally spoken about why he didn't seek a move after relegation and his feeling of responsibility (despite being one of about 3 players who made any effort at all in the resumption period).

All that being said, it could be nothing to do with him and all to do with the Pozzos - on the Hive Live that Deeney sat in with Emma Saunders before he returned, he very openly said that he had been set to leave in the summer, and that the decision was not made by him but by the hierarchy. There are legitimate reasons to both believe and doubt the full truth of that, but it could end up in hindsight being rather instructive for what will happen here. Only time will tell, of course.

 

Deeney I’d be inclined to think it was just his ego talking. Hughes would be a very odd one, how much is he realistically worth? Yet he’s comfortably our best midfielder and gives us the best chance of going back up - some actual creativity. If it really is about him being moved on then we really are bang in trouble as a club, for many reasons.

 

i really hope not , he is one of a few players we have where you can guarantee effort , it’s been disappointing him missing but hope he will back soon

as for capoue, he may well be a spent force ,probably realises that even if we did get promotion this year he would be unlikely to go up with us. Capoue on form is a force to watch, sulky capoue is a liability (was it the Mazari season when capoue and Holebas stopped trying)

Just get the coach to tell him to attack his man, and the team to play the ball for him to run onto occasionally.

Come on, Hughes is obviously one of the two that has Covid but they have the policy of not naming them. We've been a total shambles all season but I've no doubt he would've been starting had he not caught it. Capoue on the other hand...

 

On the plus side, it's a stronger team than the weekend. Quina has reverted back to his early season form after a couple of better games and even an off colour Sarr is much, much better. At the moment Kabasele is significantly better than Wilmot too.

 

Just seen some highlights of Brentford - now worried

 

He hasn’t started all season. Fair enough about Covid and tonight etc. But I have real doubts about him staying and the fact there’s always small reasons why he can’t play, which normally happen days after we are told he’s fully available.

 

One day Watford might hire a head coach who won’t play Deeney up front on his own.

Wow!! We are getting taught a right lesson here. Brentford are inventive, full of pace and really sharp passers. Only positive we made it to half time 0-0

 

How we arent at least 3 down I have no idea.

Well I'm really enjoying it. Looking SO SOLID at the back. Full of bite and passion in the middle. 4-5-1 is such a thrilling formation to play. Only give credit to Garnee who is atleast attempting to play football.

 

Chalobah is an abomination of a footballer.

His confidence levels are absolutely rock bottom despite playing in a winning side.
