I was screaming at the screen within 20 minutes of the start as straight away the format was copy-and-paste.
Every single team in this division gives 100pct effort and they all attack us at speed with 2 men spinning off in support.
Watch our guys.... Its "pass and stand still" every time. None of them give it and go. Basic football. Every one else plays neat triangles, we play in huge squares at slow pace, the ball take 3 seconds to reach our player and they're already closed down.
So is Ivic telling them to play this way, or are they so worried about "keeping shape" that they just opt for the lazy sideways pass.?
It's time GP came and said "it's OK we expect Ivic to get us promoted NEXT season when he's got a full decent squad.". If not sack him quick...!!

Which talent is that then (except for Sarr)?

Fair point and even Sarr wacked one over when it was easier to get the ball on target!

The player most stinking the place out is Troy (also Gray when available) - though I'm disappointed he's not been benched for Perica again, Ivic has not been left in a position where he's able to sideline him entirely due to the overall lack of quality in the squad in that position. He did leave him out when he was massively overweight even for him, but due to his general crapness even when he's back he's still chasing shadows.

How do you think Ivic should have dealt with Troy and Gray this season?

Allardyce is the answer from here.

Stern enough to send a rocket up them and be respected. Light-hearted enough for the players to enjoy him too. He’s worked with flair before and got them to express it - and worked with basic footballers too and squeezed every bit it juice from them. Has got out of this division before and he kept teams in the PL.

He has little shame so wouldn’t blink twice about working for the Pozzo’s either I doubt. He’s long enough in the tooth to not worry about getting the sack down the line...

Sure, fans might need to swallow their pride but he’s the obvious choice for me.

Honestly? I would have refused to sell Suarez, tell him to suck it up and made him the starting striker.

Ivic was let down by a recruitment team that thought an ageing Glenn Murray or a never really fulfilled his potential Perica were the answers for a promotion push.

He was also given a bad hand in that neither Gray nor Deeney could find a new club.

And then the promising Suárez was sold.

Throw into the mix Gray then getting injured in a friendly, Deeney having a summer operation and Perica stupidly getting a three match ban, and it’s been a catalogue of disaster and error from the word go.

I don’t think we have a very potent strike force, far from it. We seem a million miles from the Deeney-Vydra-Ighalo-Fessi quarter of our last promotion season.

However, and I think this is what the poster in 205 failed to grasp I meant, was even with our limitations, we still have enough decent attacking quality in our squad to achieve better than 3 away goals all season. Coached and organised properly, with Sema, Sarr, Pedro etc in the side, we are underachieving in front of goal.

Nah mate, he's ****. We've got "proven goalscorer" Perica and 18 stone, 40 year old Deeney.

And certainly not replacing any striker with Glen Murray which I presume was the idea with Deeney if he did leave.

And they probably thought Gray would be fit and not having more lockdown parties.

The fact we seem to be pinning our hopes on someone who hardly scores and rarely played says a lot.

Most team have at least one regular striker in their team to rely on.

    Even teams at the bottom.

It is a catastrophe we have been lumbered with Deeney and Gray to take us down and now lumbered with them to prevent us going up. 150k per week combined? Not a single other club will touch them with a bargepole which speaks volumes. Meanwhile we have no option but to sell other assets such as Estupinan and Suarez to fund their extravagant wages. How detrimental they are to the recovery of this club.

The time for Allardyce was last season if we seriously wanted to stay up after QSF went, he publicly said on radio he’d be interested in the job, but we went with the budget BFS Lite alternative.

If we didn’t go for him then then I can’t see us doing so now, would be pretty hilarious if we did though.

    Lol.

So you've spent all season so far having goes at me claiming we couldn't afford 5mil for Toney, yet you're now claiming we could have afforded to reject 15mil+ for Suarez?!

We didn’t get £15m for Suarez. So no.

And it’s easier to keep a player you already have than get another to join you who may not have come anyway.

I actually thought he did fairly well against Preston, but I should have known that it was absolutely the exception and not the rule, and that he'd be straight back to being a fat, slow, useless waste of life who does nothing but flap his flabby f**king arms around and berate his team mates who are mostly all far better and more productive than him.

He never wanted to be here. If one thing ivic has done it’s only have players playing that want to be here. But saying that some of the pedestrian performances from these players begs to differ. Maybe the players are getting fed up with his negative approach

Feels like we'd need to bring back Deulofeu to stand any chance. Sarr has 4 players around him at all times. We currently carry the predatory threat of a small field mouse.

Would he want to? Probably not. But no reason why we couldn't.

Only giving Ivic a 12 month contract undermined him from the start. But there's still 30 games let to play so plenty of time for (a) Vlad to get a tune out of the players or (b) bin him and get someone in that can.

  20. lowerrous

We would have got more for him than Toney would have cost.

And we're not talking about "easier" here, we're talking about whether we could have afforded it or not - and you've contradicted yourself now on this issue.

    ;)

The 10 minutes around 70 showed how we CAN play. Positive, fast interchange, running into space, quick thinking, getting the crowd behind them.
Why the f### can't the Serbian smiler get them to play at that tempo for at least half of the 90 minutes.
It's slow, ponderous, sideways, no movement up front, give them time to get back into defensive shape. No wonder we have so few shots on target.
Oh for the philosophy of GT, some excitement of getting the ball in the box and players there to receive it.
We are so much better than this dog turd shyte.

Something is seriously wrong and if it doesn't change fast it's going to be a f uckshyte end to what has been a miserable annus horribilis, as Liz would say.
And top marks to Skyla for calling this result and Reids for calling how it would be lost.

This wasn't the same issue as I've outlined above where you've made a hypocritical fool of yourself, but even if we were to separately discuss the issue of which would have been "easier" should we have been able to afford one of them (which you'd said we couldn't), we still could have feasibly:
agreed the fee with Peterborough and determined whether Toney would have joined us, while listening to offers for Suarez before deciding whether or not to sell him.

Suarez also seemed to make it clear he was desperate not to play in the Champ, whereas Toney is clearly happy to play in the division, so if you wanted to remove unmotivated players/"bad eggs" as per your earlier post, then trying to keep Suarez here against his will would have also been an odd and contradictory choice to make.

I’m not playing your game of ‘agree with me and my opinions or you’re wrong’...it’s far too tiring when in reality we both just want what’s best for the club.

Isn't also obvious we couldn't afford to bring anyone in without shipping players out? Deeney and Gray being unwanted by any other club and on fat contracts has sunk us. We couldn't get Toney (or anyone else for that matter) in to lead the line and have two wasters sat around on the bench raking in £130k/week or whatever it is.

We simply have a rotten club, with rotten owners, a playing squad of 90% rotten, toxic arseholes on long contracts that nobody else wants and a manager who hates football.

Eddie Howe would probably do an excellent job but he's not going to come here. We're not appealing to young British managers (or indeed, any managers that have actually accomplished something in a decent league). We're fishing in the pond of journeymen, people that have never managed anywhere decent or people whose career has gone so far off track they'll give us a go. If he waits a few months, he'll get a Premier League job.

IMO we have the same problem that we had last year .
No genuine goalscorer . When a team has no real goal threat
it is a double negative whammy when a goal is conceded.
I.E. Our players don't have faith in any player scoring whilst
the oppo have something to hang onto whilst knowing we don't
have a fox in the box .
