Ivic got it wrong in the second half and refused to make any meaningful changes. Very lucky to get something.
Outplayed in the 2nd half after the perfect start. Good wins for Norwich, Muff and Swansea. Still in the playoffs by just a point.
Unbelievable. We had a good thing going with 3-4-3, maybe looking a bit frail at the back (when aren't we?!), and Ivic just pointlessly changes the formation back to that lopsided 3-5-2, and surprise surprise, we spend the 2nd half penned in by the team in 18th. Pathetic from Ivic. With the players he has available to him, he should be doing so much better. I've said before that I've never really liked our revolving door of managers, but I couldn't care less if we jettison this negative *******.
Really enjoyed the first half and although they had a couple of good chances we looked very dangerous. Can’t understand the change of formation 2nd half and we looked poor for that 45 minutes. Would love Ivic to learn from that and just keep going for teams with our strengths and stop worrying so much with what the opponents are going to do.
We are absolutely ****ing dreadful. Is that the best you can do "best squad in the league"? Really? Is that all you've got? Embarrassing, especially second half. No effort, no quality and deserved to lose.
Incredibly frustrating to watch that dross. What are they trying to do? Don’t seem to have any plan. It is hard to comprehend the messages the management team are giving the players.
Just cant see us getting promoted under Ivic. Feel like ive watched the same game 12 times where we've been worse than our opposition, just been fortunate to be on the right side side of the coinflip to have us in the league position we are
Awful. Protecting a 1-0 lead at half time? We weren't great first half either but at least looked dangerous, the subs completely nullified that but didn't make us any better defensively, just ended up giving QPR nothing to think about. Chair was fantastic for QPR and got a well-deserved goal. They played some really tidy stuff around our box in general. Think they deserved all 3 points. Sarr was really disappointing, body language stinks too. Ivic is just a Serb in Big Sam's clothing to be honest, really bloody bored of his football. Ridiculous given our league position but for purely selfish reasons I want him out. Nearly 15 consecutive months of not being excited to watch us play on a Saturday, 14 months since we re-hired QSF and somehow I think we've found an even more negative manager. Boooooorrrrring.
So here we go again. Win at home and raise our hopes and then comes.. Our wretched away form. We’ve scored just 3 times on the road this season. Taken 6 points from 18. That is NOT promotion form. Sadly the one-trick pony in charge was found to be wanting yet again. His defensive mindset is draining the joy out of this squad. Despite yet more iffy summer recruitment, we should be doing better than this. Awful at Wycombe. Awful at Barnsley. Awful today, despite the perfect start. Meanwhile Muff score four. Norwich win on the road. And us? Another gash away performance. Another season of disappointment beckons. Send for Howe before it’s too late.
'if you can't win then a point is the next best thing.' Insightful stuff from Cathcart. I'd be ******* fuming about losing the win there. Not our long time losers.
Quina is brainless as he obviously seems unable to learn. Slow on the ball and makes a roulette turn in his own half. Collides with Capoue and lets them have another chance. The need for Hughes and Cleverly is painful. He and Crapobah stink the place out. Deeney had zero service. Sema and Kiko pushed or told to drop deep. Appallingly bad. Not watching again for a while. Same excuses. Tough division. Not if you play the right players in their correct roles and instil belief and a positive attitude. Not cower in their shells.
That second half was truly pathetic. Sitting a bit deep with a 1-0 lead has already proven to be risky so far this season, but also being completely unable to change our mentality after going a goal down is doubly disappointing. The mentality of the whole team was just so negative. Gray, JP and Deeney all didn't do enough throughout the match and couldn't get involved and keep the ball. I still think Perica has looked our best striker so far. Sarr played like a player who'd just got off the plane back from Africa, though still looked our most dangerous player. Capoue couldn't get near enough the ball. We need more legs and steel alongside him in midfield. We're really struggling in that area. The overall fitness and mentality of our squad still seems lacking somehow.
Watched the last half hour and we looked utterly clueless. They just worked the ball through our invisible midfield and into the gaps between centre back and wing back.
That was one of the longest games of football I've seen in a long time. Robbed them of a point and QPR should have had a pen or too as well. I was very willing to give Ivic time to build his team but these games are fast becoming painful to watch, with one turgid display after the other completely wasting the attacking potential of the squad. I don't see us getting close to promotion if this continues
We do the same thing nearly every game. We have the first 15 minutes on top while the opposition poo themselves about the team sheet, reputations and YouTube highlight videos. Sometimes we score, sometimes we don’t. Then they realise we’re actually a paper tiger. Sometimes the opposition manager shuffles his pack, sometimes they just start winning second balls and either way that’s enough to overwhelm us. From then on we shrivel like a raisin. And for all his childish whining about players being away on international duty, the two players Ivic hooked at half time were ones he’d had the whole fortnight to work with. What sense does that make? Then he sulks through the second half and makes no more subs, probably because he’d already shat the bed by changing formation at half time.
New Professor Emeritus of Logic Craig. Seriously Gino needs a word with Ivic and his awful tactics. Does he want to win every game 1-0 ? Pathetic.
Does anyone here have an answer to the question: what is the style of play that we are attempting to implement? That is another of my genuine questions - I'm seriously asking.
That was a typical Watford away display. Score early then sit back. Of course they were going to score, we cannot defend one nil leads, and our away form is going to end up costing us. We has the chance to end the weekend top, but typical to how we do, we blow. I know we didn't lose, but it feels like two huge points dropped today.. I was sure we could win this, especially with the formation change and strong lineup. Hardest game so far coming up on Wednesday now. Not feeling confident about it, especially if we score early. This tactic of sitting back will not work. We do not have the defense for it. Why am I so angry... we didn't lose but we continually throw points away as other teams win and overtake us.
I keep expecting us to play better but am coming to the unpalatable conclusion that this is it. Capoue anonymous,Sarr seemed to have his boots on the wrong feet. No chance of an automatic place unless we improve dramatically. Too slow and too much sideways passing. QPR we're much more incisive. Poor.
With our limited options in central midfield and none of our strikers looking especially sharp so far that's highly debatable though.
We play like we genuinely believe the opposition will never score. We’re clearly crap at being defensive, it worked for the first few games but hasn’t worked for far longer. What is the actual ******* point of trying to defend a 1-0 lead for 45 minutes when you aren’t good at doing it?
Changing back to the tired formation killed the momentum I think. But I suppose 1 point is better than nothing.
Problem is that Cleverley is no better, Capoue is giving 30% effort and we have Garner for whom the jury is still out.
Qpr seemed way more up for that. Quina was shocking lucky to come away with a point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unbelievable decision to sit back from half time. QPR should have been heading for a mauling in that second half. Ivic should be sacked. That was a crime.
Midfield selection still isn't right. Disinterested Capoue and an incompetent Chalobah today apparently.
Winning at home and drawing away is promotion form though. We won't do that every week of course though.
We’re not good enough. Can’t see this team going up. Another pathetic performance from the ‘best squad’ in the league. I used to think that players were not performing but they’re just not good enough.
Getting a draw away from home is never a terrible thing but jesus that was boring. QPR fully deserved to win and I'm astounded that Ivic changed nothing after HT. Especially after their goal.
Sarr is incredibly wasteful and seemingly isn’t improving that side of his game. Chalobah was better first half but became lost second half. He’s just not firing again consistently. Femenia and Sema are great wingbacks. Our defence is ok, up top I think we’ve got enough but midfield is the worry. Our midfield three should come from Capoue, Hughes, Garner and Cleverley. Quina showed yet again how overrated and hopelessly out of his depth he is. I like Ivic and I think he’s doing a good job, but he got it wrong with the subs today.
How to completely ruin a game with substitutions. Amazing we came away with a point. Gray's touch is cack but he took defenders out the game and nearly scored. The sh*t show that was Deeney highlighted how much trouble Gray caused their defence. Hilarious to think Deeney was on about staying in the premier league.
Terrible performance, the midfield was a joke they got given the run around by Q.P.R. they need to have a long hard look at themselves. Capoue couldn't be arsed he may as well have just stayed at home. We need one of Garner, Hughes or Cleverley otherwise there is just no energy in the middle. Again the formation did not suit us but how many times are we going to say that. Gray had the audacity to say that we are the best team in the league, I would say that we are far from the best team in this division, we may have a good squad on paper but it does that matter if they can't be arsed. I will give Ivic the benefit of the doubt for this one as he had preparation time and only had the majority of the squad available for one day this week.
