So.....another tease from the club. Posted this today, in the knowledge he'd be gone in a few hours. C***s.
I did think what the **** is the club doing posting a picture of him laughing and joking at the training ground and then selling him its as if they are taking the piss out of the fans.
Leventhal has confirmed its genuine interest and says we are in talks with Valencia over a deal. ‘Not yet complete but a growing possibility’ and ‘Capoue has told some of his teammates he wants to play under Gracia again’
Why tf would the club post that tweet with a grinning Capoue at the training ground basically just as this was going on behind the scenes?!
Yep....the club have certainly taken the "let's f&ck off these mugs for as long as we can" route. Not sure why they are doing this, but it will backfire for sure. They cannot treat their loyal fans in such contempt. No way posting those photos and then him virtually gone are just innocent coincidences. Not sure what the club hope to gain by this, apart from losing support in droves.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a Leventhal ‘exclusive’ which wasn’t just a puffed up article full of stuff people all already knew or could credibly guess
I really am no longer sure that the club pre-screen what the social media admin puts out. That being said, I’m not so sure that they ‘cannot’ treat loyal fans this way. We are not and have never been a club that turns on people viciously. We are a toothless fanbase who struggle to really unite on a cause anyway. If Gino and Co are wilfully treating fans with disdain, it’s because they know a large number of them will lap it up and jump to their defence.
It could be a case of so much going on it's far safer to say nothing with regards to existing players because any one of them can be off if the right price is offered. Just like the Capoue tweet earlier. I'll get my coat.
Not so sure that's true anymore. I used to always defend Gino, but that trust I had with him and what they are doing has sadly eroded. This p1ss taking they re doing now, is going too far though. It's a willful act, designed to see how much crap Watford fans will take. What was it yesterday....photos of Suarez at training, which have now suddenly been deleted. Everyone has their limits, even the placid Watford supporters.
No idea.....but then I don't get half the jokes on this forum. I guess it's the British sense of humour? Make out your important players are staying, just before they leave. I guess they think it's funny.
There isn’t a single player we could realistically attract to the championship who could fill the void left by Capoue leaving
Capoue and Doucoure to Chalobah and Quina is a massive step down. If they both go, we have to sign an experienced, physical starting centre midfielder or we'll get run over in the Championship.
I would be extremely disappointed to see Capoue go but I still think Chalobah, Quina, and Hughes are a stronger midfield than the majority of other championship teams have available to them.
If it's as advanced as it appears to be, then the club would have known the situation well in advance. There's no chance I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this anymore. They are doing this type of thing a lot these days.
It just doesn’t make sense though if it’s playing out as you suggest. They own a business with millions upon millions flowing through it - why would you alienate the fanbase just for a laugh? While I’m as frustrated as you are, I don’t think you can honestly believe the club are wilfully antagonising fans.... Personally I think it’s just a continued sign of disconnect and horrific communication. I think they posted that vague statement at the end of the season and think it appeased one and all.
This could well be the case, but what are the chances that the club's Twitter feed decides to profile one of our players in such a way on the day the club's also negotiating a deal for that player to leave? It's hardly as if the club have been doing many close-up shoots of other players to post on the club's Twitter feed in the last couple of weeks. It would be a very weird coincidence if so. It would have made sense had it been a suggestion that the club and player were laughing off the rumours, but it seems the rumours have become more concrete as the day has worn on.
We will certainly need to bring in someone of experience if these two go. Also, it could be the thing that makes others want out as well. If we cannot keep hold of our star players, then that statement of ambition the club put out was all bollox I'm afraid. Whoever we bring in will not be as good as the two out of the door and this is the problem. We can let players go, but we will not be able to replace with similar quality. It will just be a watering down.
From the top of my head, I don't see 7 or 8 teams with a better midfield better than that in The Championship in all honesty. I think it would be one of the best if not the best in the league. Just to put it in perspective Cardiff and Swansea managed to get in the playoffs last season and those 3 would walk into their side.
Bare with me on this - and it’s still the lesser of two options with the best being retaining Capoue. But Hughes was a player very much in the vein of Capoue while at Derby. I wonder if they want to give him even more responsibility next season - and while some think Chalobah is finished, I disagree. And let’s not forget just how highly rated he was - if he can play regularly next season, we may get a decent version of him back. If we could add Antov from CSKA to those two, I’d be less concerned. Antov really is very very highly thought of. It would be a gamble and one I’d rather we didn’t take. But it would soften the blow slightly.
