I still think some are getting ahead of themselves expecting Quina to be a regular. Don’t get me wrong, it’s what I’d like to see - but given how we have operated the squad in the past few seasons, I’m thoroughly expecting Cleverley to play ahead of him.
There is not a chance he'll play in the championship with us. Are you people insane? Has it not sunk in that we've been relegated? A rude awakening awaits.
Plenty of internet traffic in Spain from media sites saying his move to Valencia is as good as done. https://twitter.com/RadioTaronja_/status/1298337124224323587?s=20 https://twitter.com/SergioSandee/status/1298310857089265664?s=20
Heavy suggestions from Valencia news outlets tonight that he’s close to signing for them. Massive loss if this turns out to be true - he’s one I thought might stick around next season. If him and Doucoure go, beginning to look like a CM rebuild is needed too...
Our midfield will be rank if they both go. Ivic seems to rely on a DM with good passing to set the tempo and initiate attacks, if Caps goes then I don’t think we have anyone who can fill the role. Maybe Hughes there with Quina and Cleverley ahead of him? I think that needs upgrading - especially when Hughes goes!!
Sad but too much of a luxury for the Championship. Pereyra next with Doucoure. That's a lot of wages gone so one positive is our young cheap youngsters will get game time now!
Is 32. If we are going to build for the future, we need to get rid. Thought he went off the boil towards the end of last season, and can’t see him wanting the grind of the Championship
It’s not something I would consent to - but on a human level, I can see why the club are allowing it. He’s given his all and been a great signing - but he’s getting no younger, has a chance to sample another top league and re-join the manager that he’s played his best stuff under. But it does leave us short. We have no like for like replacement and also it’s a massive loss of experience. Selling Capoue means Deeney is almost certain to stay I’d suggest
Not much at his age. Somewhere between £4m-£6m... I really doubt this is a decision that’s driven by finances. They likely feel Capoue has earned the move.
Gino's got it covered. There's a few players who are kicking around at Udinese waiting for their first ever football game. One might be a midfielder.
Hopefully, a considerable amount because he is an important player for us if its peanuts then we have f***d up in my opinion. I can't see why we need to sell him for a fee of 4-7 million which it will likely be we won't get anyone anywhere near as good for that amount and our midfield starts to look a bit lightweight without Capoue. Yes he is 32 years old and we are supposedly building for the future but we also need to gain promotion.
If they think Cleverley or Chalobah are adequate, then they are very much mistaken. 5 yard passes are a struggle for them. I have absolutely no faith that we could recruit a player with his quality, especially with our reluctance to pay transfer fees in the Championship. If we'd have held onto Gueye, then maybe, but that ship turned around and sailed to Marseille instead.
We won't be signing players of the quality of Capoue. All about saving money and bringing on the youngsters. People thinking we will walk the league or have Sarr/Suarez up front all season might want to think again.
Rebuild my arse. The morons at the top will continue with the status quo - arrogantly assume we'll be OK with what we've got. A midfield of Cleverley and Dele-Bashiru next season with Deeney and Gray up top. Honestly god help us.
Sad if true, easily my favourite Watford player over the last 5 years, so under rated. I imagine Chalobah, Hughes and Quina will have been reluctant to stay through relegation and absolutely won't stick around to sit on the bench in the Championship so I guess the club have had to make some choices.
I don't mind Chalobah so much, I think he can potentially be a good defensive midfielder at this level if he can stay fit. Cleverley, on the other hand, is a 31 year old nothing player who I never want to see near our team again, but a player who will 100% start every game he's fit for this season, as we trudge toward mid table mediocrity.
Single most depressing piece of post relegation news so far Possibly the one player in our squad who we will struggle the most to replace Big blow to our bouncing back chances
But according to our fans Cleverley is going to be unbelievable suddenly at this level, so what's the problem?
I don’t think Chalobah is as much of a lost cause as others do. I really think a season in the Championship is exactly what he needs.
