Hughes ran his socks off at the weekend, might be best to give him a rest and go with Chalobah instead

Most of the players should have had enough of a rest for this match, it's a good opportunity for 3 points so we should put out our strongest team possible.

Rotation will be more necessary for the Saints game.

Although we are not playing till tomorrow, it’s a big night for us today

need all three below us to lose , last thing we need is muff of Villa having a revival

Sure, but Hughes was limping a bit in the Brentford friendly, two games in 5 days after that with the effort he put in might be an ask. Besides, Chalobah is a similar player, I wouldn't call it a downgrade

genuine question (not trying to start an argument :)) , is two games in 5 days really that big an ask , these players are ultra fit (well maybe not ours) and I assume if they play an extra game that would replace a day of training

There will be no intensity, other than intense heat. Go out in the sun now and see how long you think you could run around for :) !

I see Bournemouth have picked up two bookings in 37 mins including Steve Cook, obviously playing their usual game!

    three good results for us

watched a bit of both the Villa and Muff games, Villa the most likely to escape the drop , wonder how much muff will sell Ake for , didn’t they want £60m+

You need to read my comment again - I said we didn't need to rotate any players for this Burnley game.

However, the Saints game is only 3 days after that.

I think we have an opportunity to really stamp our mark and pull away from the bottom 4. Our next two games could see us winning both. If we do that, I think we'll be fine. Two huge, important wins, then we can all but consider Premier League football again next season.

After that we'll probably only need one more win and maybe the odd draw from the remaining 6 games. Ok three of those are City, Arsenal and Chelsea, but with Newcastle, Norwich and West Ham the other three, there's enough scope to get those 3 or 4 points required.

My big worry would be that we're tantalisingly close to survival but then mess up at West Ham, then are sitting ducks with two difficult games to finish the season with. That would be typical Watford for that to play out.

I can see villa getting a lot of points from their last 4 games. Right now Muff seem the most likely to finish 19th. Its hard to know what Wham will do. They've got the players and the fixtures to stay up but have they got the manager?

your post just promoted me to wonder why some people think 2 games in 5 days is a lot , I wasn’t suggest that’s what you think. I was just curious , many other sports like tennis will play many matches in a week

To be certain of staying up going into the Man City game we need to be 7 points clear off Muff and 5 points clear of Villa and West Ham. To avoid it coming down to goal difference and bearing in mind Villa play Wham in the last game. That'd be no small feat.

Do you mean ‘serfdom’ in its misrepresented portrayal of the agrarian status of declined villeinage in the late 13th/early 14th centuries? Because despite the fundamentally parlous state in which that group lived during that period, they were not fully ‘unfree’, as can be seen by the accelerating move towards mobility of labour after the demographic impact of the Black Death played out. Put-upon & less than enfranchised in every way they may have been, but ‘slaves’ in the manner of black plantation slaves in the USA & Caribbean they were not.

Good results for us tonight. Is it wrong of me to feel convinced now that we will lose tomorrow?

It's us isn't it, everything falls into place like the planets aligning. All of our rivals are dropping points and our opposition are depleted right down to the bare bones with injuries, players not signing extensions, an unfilled bench with kids and two keepers as well as not having a home crowd to pressure the ref. What could go wrong?

Us rolling up and not performing is the answer.

Part of me thinks about the Villa and Everton games, but another part of me thinks the law of averages suggests that we're due a better response this time!

I, for one, am shitting myself. This is such an opportunity to put some breathing space between us and the bottom four - as it stands, the five lowest ranked teams have played ten games since the restart without any victories - we are all in equally rancid form. First team to post a win will get a big boost, win a couple in a row and you're almost home and hosed.

    2-0 Burnley

It’s all falling into place for us to lose 2-0, no shots on target and a couple soft set piece goals against.

Watford have played 20 midweek away Premier League games (Tue-Thurs). Won just the 1 back in January 2017. Lost 16. I am hoping for a shock result tonight.

If ever there was a predictable Burnley win matched up with a predictable Watford defeat it's going to be tonight and it's going to be 1-0 Burnley and it's going to be awful to watch.

    And it's live

Wonder what's going on with Dyche at the moment behind the scenes. His initial verdict on the banner was it was 'unacceptable', he couldve condemned it in stronger terms and later he did call it completely unacceptable, probably after further conversations with the club. He basically gagged his players (apart from Ben Mee) from condemning the banner publically, not a good look in the current climate. Then there's the recruitment issue I really don't think Aaron Lennon and Matty McNeil do much to cover it up. Even their 4 overseas players are Czech, Dutch, Icelandic and New Zealander. Ive always really loved Sean Dyche and he's a Watford legend but I personally can't overlook this. There must be a reason for it. I thought Troy's reaction was really great and Ben Mee said all the right things but that combination of a town with a history of voting BNP, racist fans, the all white recruitment and on top of that the players saying they knew about the banner in advance suggests there is a direct line of communication between the club and some of its racist supporters. My guess is the chairman turned a blind eye during the good times but now he's worried about being associated with racism. Just hope we come out of this sh1t$torm with the 3 points.
