This is bigger than the establishment are letting on. Perhaps it has the ability to mutate & start harming the healthy individuals that catch it next.

Start of major recession looking more likely unless there is noticeable containment in the next 2-3 weeks. Still no vaccine in sight?

Wonder if Leicester game will go ahead now that it's known that there have been confirmed cases in Watford?

It takes months to create a vaccine and that's before trials ahead of releasing to the general public.

Vaccine won't be available for 12m-18m at the earliest.

Ok, so tell us more about ITK Anon and how they know this.

Otherwise we will be forced to cry ‘bs’. It’s not me saying that you understand, it’s just the law.

The most "successful" viruses don't kill their hosts. It's less likely to spread if it causes serious illness or death.

Anything is possible but I think a more virulent and deadline strain is unlikely at this stage.

It might be like the flu though and have multiple strains that appear annually that need different vaccines.

A quick, reliable and, hopefully, cheap test would be first - but again we're looking at 8m at the earliest.

Also it's good to see that it wasn't the panic buying nor the UK's recorded deaths that caused him to publish this but the fact that the hateful Dorries has got it.

Funny how some people are paranoid that it's all much worse "than the establishment are letting on", and there are others that think it's all been overblown and is a staged epidemic by the establishment to create a convenient excuse for the managed/necessary recession that was likely coming anyway.

Report here on newstalk this morning that huma trials have already begun by using a weakened piece of the virus.
It says a competition has been launched by the Bill Gates foundation the Norwegian government and other philanthropists to get a vaccine that will be released free.
They state that it would cost aprox 2 billion which is a fraction of what would be lost on markets.
Also they are hoping for a result by September.
Also it pointed out that the virus is SARS covid 2 and the disease is covid 19 in the way HIV is a virus and aids is the disease.
So testing for covid 19 does not tell us who Carry's the virus only those who have developed the disease

Yes test results by Sept so industrial quantities of distributable vaccine is 12 months away minimum, more likely 18m. The process has started months ago, many minds are on it, but its a long process to find and then manufacture and then distribute the vaccine worldwide.

Yes many minds are on it but the point was made was that to have human trials so soon is a positive

What's scaring the NHS is just how easily it spreads. It may well kill fewer people than influenza, but if we are following Italy's course then there will be a lot of death in a short period of time. Having a COVID patient on a ward makes everything a lot more difficult, then there are 'suspected' cases which also have to have precautions taken. It essentially shuts down departments, and this is why we may struggle

Yes will still be ages before we have usable vaccine though. Target will be to have it ready for next winter peak season but unlikely as I understand.

Pretty much yes, and try not to have visitors. Basically just have a really boring 2 months and sit it out. Unfortunately old people are useless on the internet, as this forum shows, and have no interest in it given it's just football forums or porn.

And my dads exact words back to me last night were ‘you know me, I’m fatalistic...if I want to go to the pub then I’m going to the pub. And the Indian takeaway.’

So they’ve been told but they won’t listen. My mum’s response was that I work in the gig industry and she doesn’t see me shirking away from crowded areas - didn’t want to know when I pointed out that I’m 35 and she’s 69 and that it’s my job, I can’t just stop going. Well not until everything is cancelled in a week anyway.
