Dear oh dear...doubling down on your bad take.

So it's the fans fault now? Or are the fans playing the games?

You were trying to provide a rebuttal to this comment (about the team, not the fans):

You're behaving like a child saying that they didn't nab a cookie from the cookie jar while having crumbs all round their mouth.

But feel free to keep digging though...

You are quite strange. I guess it's Friday and we have no football to look forward to, so you come out of the woodwork with the agenda to pick fights for no reason. If that floats your boat, you're welcome to it.

I'm just sad we won't have the opportunity to wave our flags again as we break our own cup final defeat world record.

How about spending Sunday watching a recording of the final back, while sat down waving a flag on your sofa? Not quite the same, but I'm sure you could recapture at least some of the magic.

You'd only really capture the full shame and embarrassment of it if you wheeled the sofa out onto the front garden and sat there bollock naked waving your flag.

It depends on the competition, you wouldn't want to win at the 'Darwin Awards' for instance.

Also, most people on here would probably rather avoid winning the 'Biggest Forum Meltdown of the Year' tournament, though somehow hornetboy seems dead-set on taking the gold medal each time.

    Who's playing games?

You still haven't refuted Lowerrous' evidence of league defeats following FA Cup victories - then you made it about the fans when your claim was evidently not true.

Then you passive aggressively claimed he called you a liar, when he didn't, he just offered factual evidence to disprove your claim.

You're not a liar, just your theory is incorrect.

Evidence: 2015 Cup run in March:

    2/3/15 Man Utd 1-0 Watford
    5/3/15 Watford 0-1 Leicester
    13/3/15 Arsenal 1-2 Watford - FA Cup 6th round
    19/3/15 Watford 0-1 Stoke City

Now it's time to move on.

Sometimes I have the appetite to take on the small-minded fans, whose only joy is making an issue out of something that doesn’t exist.

I post, when I post with observations that are relevant at the time. I do not keep a record or catalog of other people’s comments in order to fit some type of agenda to it. That has never interested me. I find it extraordinary that people, like yourself, use up so much energy in doing this.

I have no idea what you’re even talking about. A list of cup games. No doubt it means something to you, but it’s totally lost on me.

I’ve explained what I was talking about, if you do not accept that, then that’s up to you. I have no interest in explaining further.

I actually did both - I first offered the evidence to disprove his claims, then when he tried to backtrack and claim he actually wasn't saying anything about the confidence of the first team then I pointed out that it seemed a clear lie.

Good info around the 2015 cup run btw.

You're either admitting here to being incredibly dense, or you're just trying to "redirect" things again.

Very transparent, very ineffective, slightly pathetic.

This is a very good post except for the line: "Joao Pedro and Gray up front is fine for a cup game.", which reveals that you have succumbed to the brainwashing of the football media and the wider game that cup ties don't matter any more.

Your claim has been eviscerated so you turn to condescension.

It's a simple concept to understand about 2015 - we lost the games leading up to the cup game and we lost the games immediately after the cup game - confidence had nothing to do with it.

Playing the victim doesn't really work.

Yes I have used therapists in the past, they've been a bit of a mixed bag tbh. Even if any of them were particularly worth recommending London and Berlin are both a bit far from Barcelona for such a thing.

Seems to be a decent amount of English speaking options in Barca though, e.g.:

I agree. A new day today.
Gray was total pants and embarrassed himself at the kick off. Dumb or what?
Why are we taking on players let go by other clubs? As you said, many will float off to Park football in a couple of years.
Barrett has taken a lot of stick for being totally useless. We all know a failed youth/U21's team player who was at a professional club and now playing with his mates on a Sunday morning.
The pitch was awful at Tranmere. The desire is to stay in the Premier league, but the performance was crap by Watford. Pleased to read that some Tranmere fans realise that we were playing our Squad players and have not got carried away with the win.

Well that just summed Gray up and people say the players will be annoyed /upset but tbh not sure that many will care sadly.

They will just "learn and move on" as the pros say.

The best young player we have is Ryan Cassidy but he probably had burnt his bridges with the club.

We seem to have a lot of quick potentially good youngsters but physically weak particularly against "men"

I saw the rest of our Under 23s lost to Plymouth who had Joel Grant at 32 in their team !!

Anyway if we had anyone good enough for Premier league football now they would have been poached by a bigger club..

I didn't see the game itself so cannot comment generally on the performances on the night.

Pretty ropey marking by Holebas for the winner though..

As I understand it, a team who deliberately throws a game because they want/need to concentrate elsewhere can get into trouble with the FA. Possibly they can get fined, at least this used to be the case. So no-one at the Club actually says anything of that sort.
It was not that they didn't mind getting beaten, I suspect they actually wanted to get beaten. Pearson, who has been known to speak his mind, as near as dammit owned up. So they fielded a sprinkling of marginal first-teamers, came close to getting a result (it was only 2 - 1) and nobody can sue them/ fine them for deliberately throwing it.
Why? Because they feel they cannot risk any more injuries and didn't want exhaustion to be a factor in the near future. Exhausted players get injured more often and it could also play a part in getting walloped by Man U. Now we don't have to play them and we have a rest.
My guess is that, whatever else he has found out since arriving, two players having to leave the pitch with cramp after just an hour shocked him most. It shocked me. The fringe players are not fit enough. What does that tell us about the fitness coaches of the recent past?
We have too many first-team squad players injured (although Pearson seems to have a policy of not seeking-out excuses) and threadbare back-up (as has been discussed endlessly).
As a supporter of sixty-plus years I find it very hard to ever want Watford to lose any match; but I tell you what, the Club were right on this occasion.
We are in a relegation battle and it is going to be a 'damned close-run thing'.

The reward for these Tranmere players is Man U on tv. The reward much more appealing to these league one cloggers, they’ll probably receive a bonus in their pay and it sets the club up for the foreseeable, the vibe around tranmere this week would of been the full focus on this game as for our boys it was a hindrance. The mentality of it all effects performance.

Yes we should be able to play a 2nd string capable of beating these. But risking anyone coming back from injury that has a place in the 1st team is criminal. Loading the bench up with the young lads was the right thing to do. You mention success, I’d of played him but I presume something might be happening behind the scenes with him. I’d of played Dahlburg instead of Batman but that I doubt would of made any difference.

  32. Pearson played the weakest side we could get away with without getting into trouble with the FA. He used it as an opportunity to look at some u23 players in men's football outside of the academy bubble. Don't blame him one bit.

It worked. He's back on the training pitch today working to improve the first team which is exactly where he needs to be, not fart ar5ing around putting together a side for Sunday.

No wonder we lost - Kabasele has tweeted talking about the game and thanking the fans for their support .. on Tuesday!

I know we played then too but he mentioned Tranmere.
