I agree he appears to have an issue with foreign players. You can't get much more pointed than : “We do have a British core - the spine of the team are players you can rely upon."

If its Pearson I'll be informing the ticket office that my seat is open to the many thousands waiting in the wings to snap it up

  7. Pearson would be an appointment to get us ready for next year in the championship imo

At this point it is clear that our issue is with the players and their motivation. Too long they have had friendly friendly managers tip toeing around their laziness.

There is still, I believe, more than enough ability to stay up. But you need to get in someone they will hate, who will.make them put the effort in or make them train with the kids.

For all their fancy talk, right now the pozzos need an old school manager who doesnt want to give the players a cuddle. BFS ir Pearson would both do that

I won’t be attending Vicarage Road again this season. It’s true that my love for the club goes beyond the dug-out. But likewise, I’m not sure how else Gino will realise the extent of fans displeasure unless they vote with their feet.

Nigel Pearson is a disgusting appointment if it happens. And will be two fingers up at every Watford fan. Lessons not being learnt. He got sacked as his team were bottom of the Belgian second division THIS YEAR. What standard is that? League 1 at a push?

Appointing Pearson will end badly and be another two fingers to fans opinions. A move by owners who have given up/don’t care/want to sell.

I for one am happy that we can rely on the outstanding performances of Foster, Cathcart, Chalobah, Hughes, Deeney and Andre bloody Gray.

Why are you so against him? Sure he has anger issues and problems with authority, but if he can shake up the obvious demise and apathy that's within the dressing room right now, isn't that a good thing? I'm pretty certain the appointment would be made through gritted teeth if it is him, but needs must.

I must admit, I thought he was excellent in his two spells at Leicester. I'm pretty sure there will be clashes between the board and him, and I don't think he'll last more than this season, but we do need a shot in the arm as a club. He may be exactly what we need at this moment in time.

Because he’s done nothing since leaving Leicester that points to him being anything less than dire. That was nearly 5 years ago. How many other jobs at PL level has he been linked with? Zero.

If it’s British and shot in the arm the club needs, You go all out to persuade Allardyce.

But if the question is ‘What if Allardyce says no?’, the answer still isn’t ‘Nigel Pearson’. I’m against him because I fail to believe there aren’t easily more qualified and suitable candidates in the whole of football.

Nigel Pearson wouldn’t be the worst appointment. He actually got Leicester out of a worse situation than we are now and laid the foundation for their league winning season.
I’d really like a home grown manager now and someone if relegated that would stay on and help us bounce back. Pearson in this sense is a good candidate but I have to say Big Sam has my vote all day.

    far
Not sure how many PL jobs he's been linked to but it's not as if he's not been working. His record at Leicester was very good over a long period of time. That's not a fluke. He damaged his own reputation because of all the strange things he was doing in the media. Being overly aggressive to reporters, but he's a straight-talker, that type always gets into trouble. I remember he grabbed a player by the throat in one game. Ostrich-gate was another which was some sort of feud with a reporter. It was truly bizarre stuff.

I don't think he's as bad as you think, and I certainly will not be walking away from the club if we appointed him. My biggest concern would be getting someone like Alan Pardew. Duxbury worked with him at West Ham, and Mullins played for him at Palace, so there is a strong link with him.

I don't think I'd like Fat Sam either. He's all about the money and at his age, I just don't think he'd take the job seriously. He's got a 'shrug of the shoulder' type attitude these days, and it's not what we need. We need someone who is serious about his career in management. Maybe Pearson would see Watford as a perfect opportunity to rebuild his reputation, so I would trust someone's motives far more if he's doing it for personal ambition, rather than the money.

Oh Nigel, you mad *******. I wish him all the best because he pulled Leicester up from the worst position in our history and built the foundations of the club as it is now.

He’s a club builder, a man who can delegate with an uncanny knack for finding quality coaching and scouting staff. He’s funny, intelligent and resourceful.

He’s also a grumpy bully and a very bad loser. The ostrich incident is his most famous outburst but far from his most bizarre. He had a five year long feud with the tool who does the commentary on BBC radio Leicester which made for cringe worthy post match interviews week in week out. He does not suffer fools gladly does our Nige. He really struggled in his only season in the Prem with us despite having some really good players, we were horrible at both ends of the pitch for nearly 30 games.

It would be a very strange appointment and one I think would suit both parties better in the summer when the dust has settled on the season. Who knows though, as a Hail Mary to avoid relegation Pearson might just be mental and unpredictable enough to make it work.

You're not going because you don't like the manager we are (possibly) getting? Really? It's Pearson not David Pleat. I will never understand comments like that. I support the club, not the owners, not the players, not the manager, the club. It's irrelevant to me who those people are, it will always be my club no matter what and no appointment (apart from Pleat) would stop me from going

I suspect a frank exchange of views (and a broken nose for Giraldi) would resolve that one.

Nigel's kneck would be fine after that.

Thought I would come on here to see the reaction to your link with Nigel Pearson and after reading the reactions I just had to sign up.

As Leicester fans we were recently asked who ranked as our top manager of the decade and most backed Pearson ahead of Ranieri and Rodgers. Nigel Pearson, with time, would be the greatest thing to happen to your club in recent history. You may go down this year, but he will have you going down fighting. It sounds as though it is a rebuilding job at Watford, with a few bad eggs who need moving on but largely a lot of good still and a good fanbase, precisely the stage that Nigel came in to rescue us twice (when we were relegated to League one and when Sven left us in a total mess with highly paid Championship level superstars and a whole host of uninterested loan players). He is a fantastic man manager who is ruthless and once he has built his own squad, you'll be left with a group of honest players who would die for Pearson.

On the footballing side, you'd be hugely surprised too, the best football I've ever seen at the King Power Stadium was under Pearson in our Championship winning season. He plays attractive attacking football too which dispels the myth about long ball.

Believe me, don't be blinded by his most recent spell in Belgium. You can ask any Leicester fan and 95% of us would have him back in a heart beat. He built our club and Ranieri won the league with his side and philosophy. Perhaps Ranieri's charm just took it that step further but I would have been confident of finishing in a European spot that season under Pearson no doubt.

Back Pearson and get behind, he's a fighter and a battler and will get you out of this mess.

Thanks for posting. I too know a lot of Leicester fans, and I've spoken to one just now. He has basically echoed what you said, but he also said that a lot of the credit went to Steve Walsh and Craig Shakespeare as well. It was this trio that worked so well for you. Hopefully if Pearson does get the job, he'd bring them with him. It's a proven formula that works very well.

Bang on. Pearson went to Belgium without either as they were both occupied elsewhere and struggled. I don't see him going to another club now without at least Shakespeare with him. Shakespeare is an outstanding coach and Pearson an excellent technician and leader and both compliment each other so well. Steve Walsh is almost like the father figure to them that keeps them in check and his scouting record cannot be bettered elsewhere.

Walsh would basically be a Giraldi replacement though wouldn't he? Can't see Gino (or Giraldi) being up for that.

Nice one. Personally I would MUCH prefer Pearson over Hughton, Hughes, Pardew or Clement! Allardyce is probably the only British manager I would've preferred that was in the running.

To be honest, his personality and demeanour is EXACTLY what's required around this current bunch of prima donna's. He also has a track record for keeping Leicester in the League having got them promoted originally.

I think he would be quite an underrated appointment.

Could go really well and be a master stroke or it could go spectacularly badly! I'm excited!
