Well you don’t need me to tell you that everything is going rather nicely for us at the minute. I won’t bang on about how great we are or anything, not while you’re having a particularly **** time. What I will say is that this season has that feeling like something great is on the horizon. Gritty away wins, loads of VAR decisions, players that give a ****, all points towards a big second half of the season. To be clear of 5th place going into Christmas and looking like a really good bet for a top 3 finish is a fantastic achievement. I watched your game against Southampton and I can see why you get so frustrated with these players. A promising start faded into a pretty inevitable defeat to a really bad side. I thought Sarr had a good first half but the desire to be tight at the back just seemed to put the players in too negative a mindset. We can be got at on the counter, Everton caused us big problems on Sunday with quick balls over the top to the wingers. If you can double up on Chilwell especially some joy can be had there. We’re still at our best on the counter attack though and can really punish teams when they over commit. I know Brendan Rodgers isn’t especially liked on here but I’ve got to say he is doing one hell of a job. I don’t expect him to stick around forever and for someone that wasn’t a player he clearly feels that he owes it to himself to the best he can in management. Fair enough but I think he would be mental not to aim for a season in the Champions League with us before he moves on. He’s created a wonderful atmosphere at the club, without demanding loads of his own players but by being a brilliant coach. He’s getting the best out of Jamie Vardy who is apparently hard to work with, I don’t buy that personally but it fits the media’s perception of Vardy. He is one of the best goalscorers in the world, he’s criminally underrated. Give me him over the likes of Aguero and Griezmann every single day of the week. The smartest striker I’ve ever seen live, he’s still as tenacious and as hard working as ever but with a slightly more refined role under Rodgers he is absolutely lethal. Ricardo, Chilwell, Soyuncu, Evans, Ndidi all stand out players in their positions in Europe at the minute. We have quality coming out of our ears basically and I’m feeling very spoiled getting to watch it click like it is this season. I won’t lie, it could be a cricket score tomorrow night. We’ve won six in a row conceding just two goals. You just never know though do you? Another change of manager could kick your players up the arse and spark a great escape that would overshadow ours under Pearson in 2015.
Very good Filbert, but you're wrong. I DO know. The chances of us getting anything are as likely as me returning from the club's agm as pontiff!
Good write up Filbert, thanks. Difficult to see anything but a Leicester win, but if they leave it as late as your write up we might just have chance!
You know what it’s like, no matter how well your team is doing you still have to expect them to screw it up. It’s a defence mechanism!
Funny I mentioned that just now. Unless we are still well adrift come spring, I don't see how our escape could overshadow yours (and it was a credible but not the greatest achievement as you had a fairly easy run-in vs poor teams and/or those with nothing to play for, with 6 home games in your last 9 matches). We do have 24 games to sort it out! Funnily enough I'm quite looking to tomorrow's game even though we don't have a good record at Leicester at the best of times.
I think it's because Leicester are still a relatively unknown quantity and that at least intrigues me, if we were playing any of the other top four teams it'd be another game I'd skip except for checking for any goals scored against us. Plus good though Leicester are, I'm not convinced we should be that fearful of a team that we finished two points and as many places behind (and, of the current PL incumbents, are the last team to lose to us at the Vic when Brendan was already their manager - and Gray scored!).
Got a funny feeling we will win this. 3-0 Leicester more injuries and suspensions the most likely outcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hate to say it but they're a good watch at the moment. Cricket score is harsh basketball maybe. All that being said the gods will be wearing yellow tomorrow. Some dodgy referee calls and two red cards to your lot. So I'm predicting a very tight 6-0 home win.
Yep Capoue is probably last on the list of players I mention that should be dropped, mainly because he has played less games than than the others. And we can’t drop them all I guess.
I’ve largely given up on us staying up to be honest. In any case these players have shown the don’t have the guts for the fight in any case so we don’t lose anything by tinning them.
I don’t think you’ll have to worry about Brenda going anywhere else, he’s got a great team there playing some exciting football. I bet Maguire slaps himself in the face every morning for leaving. Your owners will back Brenda and a top 4 finish is looking good. I predicted you and Everton would swap places with Chelsea and Man U in top 6 I’ve got half right. Hope we are the shock result of the week and catch you on an off day but the way your going right now it’s never happening, your right saints were ***** and we made them look good. Basically everyone I know who plays Fantasy Premier League, has made Vardy captain or triple captain this week. We could be the toast of FPL later tonight when he scores 12!
I'm beginning to think we might lose this one tonight. Fantasy Premier LeagueVerified account @OfficialFPL ,, Jamie Vardy is the first player this season to be captained by 2 million+ managers
I really hope Mullins has the bottle to leave out the deadwood that would rather be anywhere else than on the pitch. There are more than capable players in our under 23s that would bite your hands off to even be on the bench tonight. We need fresh blood and fresh enthusiasm. The likes of Foulqeuir aren’t going to provide it.
Given the trend for getting in completely unqualified ex players from the noughties should Lloyd Doyley or Heidar Helgusson be taking charge of this one?
Could do them on the pitch ! Doyley could at least defend and Heidar would play even if he was injured ! There were suggestions on your form about resting players which says it all ..
Last Season up until March was the first time I stopped feeling like this with Watford. Didn't pan out the way I wanted. At all.
Remember Shaqiri at Stoke. Looked fat, half arsed, and whilst possessing a wand of a right foot could barely be arsed to move most of the time. Then he ends up at the best team in Europe whilst his former club toil in turmoil. We've more than a few Shaqiris in spirit, though lesser talents.
Quite right too. All it needs a rollicking from him to make Doucoure a £50m player again. Will probably get Deulofeu back in the Spain squad too. Don’t know why we are all so worried...!
That does not surprise me. This week is the first week at work where I've started to have people feel sorry for me supporting Watford and begin to question if we could be the worst side (or one of the worst sides) in top flight history. Fun times at the moment!
This is so depressing. All I am hoping for tonight is we don't get slaughtered. I am taking 3-0 Leicester as par
I've captained Vardy. I also have Soyuncu & Maddison in my team. 2-0 Away win incoming. Fantasy title hope in tatters. Up the Watford.
Our only hope is that everyone thinks Leicester will win at a canter. You never know in football but... I think Leicester will win at a canter.
I think there’s a fair chance we’ll rotate a bit but I think we’d have to regardless of the opposition because we’ve had a very settled team this season. Changing to two up front worked against a back three on sunday so we could see that kind of lopsided 3-5-2/4-4-2 again tonight. Players like Praet, Gray and now Iheanacho have looked good in their cameos and the cup games so yeah we could see them. I hope we don’t muck about with the back half of the team but I can see Perez, Tielemans or Barnes dropping to the bench for this one.
