Probably not as it was a clear dive punished with a yellow card after review.

First football and now tennis. This country is going to the dogs. Thank goodness we have politicians we can trust to put it right.

They said they could play Saturday if needed.

Well if they want a decent move it's up to them to raise their games.
I've long since given up on footballers playing for their club or the fans but perhaps they'll pull their collective digits out for their wealth accounts?

Agreed. It looked to me like Pawson was looking for an opportunity to give a pen. Soft decision

It didn’t appear to be in jest, which is likely why you got the reply you did. It certainly isn’t obvious if that the tone you intended.

Since when was it acceptable for referees to atone for an earlier mistake by making another?

Feels he made a mistake with the first penalty call? Deal with it as a mistake. Trying to redress the balance should be called out for what it is - cheating.

I read your message before the edit that referenced the second one.

By the time I clicked reply your edit must have updated, thus quoting the updated message. My bad for not noticing the extra wording in my quote when I was responding.

I wonder if DavidmSawyer could manage a graph of 'number of asterisks used per post' against 'time posted after the close of a match'?
There were people posting on here who had just lost it. The result was a water-fall of ill-advised opinions, non-facts, bitterness and anger, mixed in with the occasional glimmer of insight.
About football. God only knows what the political forum is like.
I picture the family dog cowering in the spare bedroom until it's safe to come out again.
Watford were playing away from home against the second-placed club. Their coach had a total of two training sessions to prepare them for it. Not surprisingly they lost and Leicester seemed well in control, although nothing like as dominant as might have been expected.
In fact, I was surprised at how well Watford kept them out and tried to create stuff. I think Mullins, if he had any influence at all, had done a tidy job.
There was a plan to press high and chase down Leicester players all over the pitch, albeit not at a highly professional level, and I just do not think it true that Watford players are physically lazy. There are probably some lazy thinkers in there, though: A proper coach, rather than one just passing through, might usefully tackle that: Lots of little things, like pass in front of your target so that he can run onto it, hit your shots early and hard, and so on.
Losing narrowly to Leicester this season is the least of Watford's failures. Losing to a dreadful Southampton team was big and it looks to me they are simply not good enough to stay up, never mind the stats.
Femenia was ruthlessly exposed as a defender by some capable players. He looks fairly decent going forward, but he is absolutely out of his depth as a full-back.
I didn't notice Deeney contributing much; he probably needs match fitness after a long lay-off, but I think he is probably now just a (very expensive) stop-gap target man who badly wants for mobility. Everybody else had their good and bad moments. But everybody looked very short of confidence. Hardly surprising, but it is a big nail being hammered into our coffin. A big problem for any incoming coach.
To anybody who still thinks we were wrong to sack QSF: Why was he not playing Sarr?

I like your posts Chumlax, and I normally agree with them in essence if not every single point, but I find this one pretty hyperbolic.

Aston Villa had been a basket case for years and they and Stoke were already on the way down, we on the other hand have lost form over a few months after reaching 7th in the league as recently as late April. I don't see how you can compare our situation to Stoke's and remotely to Villa's this early in the season.

There's no doubt the key decision makers at the club have made a lot of mistakes at the club of late which have contributed to where we are now, but with 23 games to go, we do have players of the quality to get us out of this mess, and if we stay up hopefully the powers that be will have learned from their mistakes and we can look back at this in the years to come as no more than a blip in the second most distinguished period of our club's history. I imagine it hasn't all been plain-sailing at Udinese...

Two things for me. Despite a lot of decent competing we have zero idea of how goals are made. And when we do get in decent positions basic control and skill are very poor. Deulofeu, Success and others, often unable to trap a ball.

I was speaking to some boring twatt (to be fair he was probably thinking the same thing) at half time last night about Sarr and he reckons he's the signing that will bankrupt the club. We've massively overpaid for him and relegation will see the back of him at a vast loss. That combined with the lack of premier league revenue and huge wage bill will see us fold. I said it'll be worth it if it means the pozzos top themselves (I was only joking, was pissed mind) and he called me a ****head and we went our separate ways

We just have no goal threat or cutting edge in the final third. We get to a certain part of the pitch, run out of ideas and go sideways. Our ‘attacks@ either come from Gerry on the left side corner of the box, or kiko sending an aimless cross in.

Docuore is the biggest culprit for slowing things down, he seems to shut the angle down in any attack and then just send it sideways.

I mean yeah, it obviously contains an element of hyperbole. Not so much when you compare it contextually to how we all saw the Pozzos, and as importantly how they market themselves, and then the way they have comported themselves over the past six months to two years or so.

The more you look at our recruitment and the players we are forced to rely on, the more it looks like a scattergun, basket case approach. We've got three right backs in the squad and two of them are not competent to play at the level they are; the third is just about, and is a permacrock to boot. Then there's the reliance on ludicrously ageing players who've never been replaced, and to top it off the fact that so many of them actually are what opposition fans took the piss for and we always told them they didn't know what they were talking about: mercenaries with dreadful attitudes. People on here who defended Holebas for his pashun, for example, look rather silly now, a mon Avis Londers.

Fundamentally, I see your point, but I feel there's also a growing acceptance that we don't quite have the squad and players we always told ourselves we did. We've always been a couple of bad results away from disharmony and breakdown, and this time it's broken out fully. Watching last night, I'm not sure exactly who it is we're banking on turning up and both knowing how to how to play in the final third and teaching everyone else at the the same time. Similarly, the defence is, at this point, the result of wilful neglect.

It was reported earlier that we are frontrunners to sign Connor ******* Wickham in January. Tell me that's not vintage Stokilla.

Come again? Google isn't my friend.

Regarding your third paragraph, I think that could apply to any team outside the top six last season (with the exception of Leicester and possibly Wolves) - when it comes to the "rest", there's a thin dividing line between success (staying comfortably in the top flight) and failure (relegation). We all knew the players had limitations, and it was largely a sense of belief and togetherness that enabled us to stay as high in the table as we did for most of last season and reach the FA Cup final. If we have someone who can bring those qualities back then we have half a chance, but we don't know if Mullins is the answer, or if he isn't, who would be the manager we could appoint at this stage who could do the job.

He was injured a fair bit and he did start him at Wolves when he was awful and then started him against Southampton. There were not that many other games he was available for. Anyway I thought the forum had decided he was sh1t?

*Yawn* Did I say 'we're about to sign Connor Wickham'? The dullest thing in the world is people flying in to screech at anyone any time a transfer rumour is referenced 'HAHA TEE HEE HEE SEEN YOU COMING FOOL'.

Any rumour is the same in that you've no idea what the actual truth of it is until it happens, and if it doesn't then you'll never be any the wiser. Do I think, at this point, that we will sign Connor Wickham? No. Is it somewhat contextually relevant that we are now linked to a player like him? Yes.

It's also worth bearing in mind that we signed Danny Welbeck just four short/very long (delete as appropriate) months ago.
