We have 2 weeks before the next match, Deeney hopefully will get an U23 match to get himself fitter, we've been due a win based on our October performances (apart from Chelsea). As someone said we are on an upward trend despite it not being pretty. I also believe that QSF is really only here until January, get us out of the relegation zone or at least within reach of 17th, when the Pozzos can do something about it.
I know we’re all united in our dislike of the club on this forum, but I’ve got to confess that there’s a part of me that is really pleased we’ve won. There I’ve said it. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone.
Brilliant win, albeit not an amazing performance, it was gritty and organised. We looked a little shaky first half down our right but we adjusted to that second half and didn't really ever look like conceding. Foster had to make a couple of saves from distance but apart from that nothing. We had chances to score more tonight, Deulofeu should've done better when putting wide, Gray was unlucky with a great block and then second half Gray lacked composure when well placed. I thought our game management was superb in the last 15 minutes, we sh*thoused our way to 3 points tonight by breaking up the play, wasting time, tactical fouling/bookings (minus Kabasele, he's just a clown). We needed to do that to get us over the line with 10 men. A really good away performance against a team that needed the points as much as we did! Capoue being back made a massive difference to us! We looked more robust, physical and organised in midfield and Doucoure raised his game by 30% with Caps back in there! Deeney to come back in after the break. Hopefully Pereyra's injury is just a pre-caution and he's not out for long. Sarr also back now as well as Prodl. Things are starting to look up!
Splendid. All about the result and it was a great effort given the rock bottom confidence. Norwich are rubbish but what a great building block for the next few games. Well done to Flores and then players.
You Orns!!!! So it turns out that we are not the worst team in the league. I didn't think we were particularly good today but the lads worked tirelessly and got the result. Norwich are by far the worst team we have played this season. We got let off when we went down to 10 men due to their inability to put a good ball into the box.
That Onel Hernandez is a tremendous player though, isn't he? Not just because he's Cuban. Ok, yeah. It's because he's Cuban.
Hopefully that win will breed confidence, and we can play with a bit more freedom and purpose next time out, because that was by no means a performance that gives me hope of survival in this division. Capoue made a big difference, and Ben Foster is looking solid again. I couldn't tell if it was Gray's goal or if the defender knocked it in. Special mention for Cantwell. After recent controversies in other sports, it's refreshing to see a transsexual competing as her birth gender, and I think she played quite well apart from a few crap set piece deliveries.
I thought the game, particularly the first half was what used to be called cracking entertainment. Nerve-racking end to end stuff. The second half Norwich ran out of ideas. Their man Hernandez was really the only problem. Kabasele pulled off his party-piece special once again; whoever said they were questionable yellows - sorry, no, in my view they were both cast-iron yellows. Mind you, he was dropped in it for the second one by a lousy pass.
I think Sainsburys looking to close a number of Argos stores has played a part in Hernandez playing so poorly. With Post Offices becoming ever rarer in rural areas and TK Max just a distant dream for the boy, the thought of no longer being directed towards 'checkout number five' with his little slip of paper has shattered all faith he had in the Western way of life.
He was awful. Such a poor touch. Got us in more trouble than out of it most of the time. Gave the ball away in key areas. Got bullied off the ball too easily. I mean, 2-0 up. Get in the channels . Hold the ball up. Cause havoc in their defence. I've really tried to defend him and back him up but he does nothing in our current formation. Takes no pressure off our defence when we really needed it and didn't put himself about to disrupt them enough. We need more from him and I'm not sure he has what we need right now.
How did these beat Man City and our aggregate is 0-14 from our last two games against them?? Football.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Excellent to have that particular monkey off our backs. Now we go into the break with a positive feeling about the place and have two weeks to get everyone as fit as possible. I still feel we have a much better team than our position shows and hopefully we will start to show that with a bit of confidence restored after this win. Despite our horrendous start it won't take much to pull us out of the mire; we just need to start stringing a couple of results together. Our next four is about as winnable a string of games as you could hope to receive in the Premier League. With any luck we'll pull off at least two wins and avoid losing to Southampton. One of Southampton or Everton are guaranteed to drop points tomorrow, which is good for us. Still, we're going into a weekend with our game already out of the way and, shock of shocks, it was a win. Having a completely enjoyable weekend ahead is strange. I forgot how it felt!
1 defeat in 5, and if VAR was working at Spuds and Newcastle we would have another 4 points. We weren’t great tonight, but we dug out a win. It gives us hope for the rest of the season, but agree we need to improve if we are to get out of trouble
I keep reading this. The third match is away to Leicester, probably the best team apart from Liverpool in the PL at present.
It does feel a bit like when Doyley scored against QPR. He wasn’t sure what to do, but eventually ran to the crowd to celebrate.
Kabasele is a complete clown, how on earth does he get sent off so many times?? Thank god we won, nearly beaten Derby's 11 points so we can go down in peace.
