Agreed. Players like Janmaat and Quina for example are deserving of a chance but are not getting one. Quina especially must be getting fed up as he came here with the promise of being given first team football.
So you're Nath's mouthpiece now? I doubt you really remembed a specific post of mine from a few months ago, but I suspect you've been trawling to find 'evidence'. Too much time on your hands? Anyway, apparently I'm a happy clapper because I didn't condemn Gomes' year-long contract extension. I don't think our fledgling goalies are up to first team yet and Gomes has always been a positive presence around the place. He's not our 1st choice keeper and I'd prefer Foster to be our cup goalie as well, but Gomes is as reliable a sub as we can have. And it's true, ultimately the club does know best, fans are outsiders looking in, thinking we know best with our pub punditry but we don't really know that much. That's not to say the club doesn't make mistakes (eg. Oulare, Wague) but fans would make many, many more. Finally, to get back 'on topic' for the thread, I think we could get something from Wolves on Saturday, a draw would be a good result there, wounded pride and all that. Or is that a bit too positive?
Football is a funny old game. Had we beaten Man City 8-0 rather than lost, the mood would be very different I dare say, so we need to remember not to get carried away. As for Wolves, they are struggling and should be a routine 3 points. I would keep the same XI as the City game and try to grind out an 8-0 win. Prediction Wolves 9-1 Watford Jota (82, 84, 85, 87, 89, 90+1, 90+2, 90+4), Deulofeu (own goal 90+6); Capoue (32)
It’s not just one game though is it? Had we been 14th in the table and beaten/drawn or had a regulation 3-0 defeat against City, the reaction wouldn’t be as bad as it has been. Had we been mid table and lost heavily I doubt it would have been as bad. But the form and efforts so far (save for 45 minutes against Arsenal) means the club have lost the right to expect fans to treat Saturday as a moment in isolation. Bottom of the table with no victory was bad enough so far. I’ve even at times over the past 24-48hrs been able to excuse the fact it was 8-0 in my head - it’s the 5 goals in 18 minutes that have left me furious with the whole lot of them. They’ve deserved every word of criticism levelled at them since 4:45pm on Saturday. Not a single word from the so-called ‘leaders’ at the club beyond Foster’s almost jovial post-game interview.
In all seriousness, when people do the scorers and the times, it never fails to make me laugh. A lot.
You’re not a happy clapper for welcoming Gomes extension. You are labelled so because you can’t think for yourself and trust the club’s judgement unconditionally. Back on topic as you say yes a draw would be decent but we really need to win a game soon. Draw (or lose) this and the pressure on the sheff utd game will be intense.
I just experienced that thing where once again it feels all the more real. I mean, I hadn't forgotten that we'd shipped 8 - EIGHT goals this weekend, without reply, but seeing it written like that, once again, was like a hammer blow to the guts. It's like bereavement. You know someone is dead, but then you see their empty chair and get knocked, then their unused mug, then a letter arrives for them from some account you forgot to close down etc. Every time I am reminded that our team lost 8-0 and didn't even care about it, will hurt like hell until the players somehow manage to achieve some sort of redemption. Not that I know how these spineless ****s would ever do that.
5 goals in 18 minutes. Playing Holebas, Femenia and F*cker for his debut in a new look back 5. Hauling off F*cker after 30 mins of his debut. All from a manager brought in to tighten up the defence.
It's true. Had we won 8-0 on Saturday, I probably wouldn't have minded Foster's nonchalance and hero worship of their striker. He makes a valid point though and one which gives pause for thought. Had we come away from Wembley after that semi-final comeback and put together a streak of wins, securing 7th place and Europe, bouying our confidence before somehow dismantling Man City 6-0 at Wembley in front of a global audience to lift the first major trophy in our history, then had a summer of strengthening our already cocksure squad of winners, won our opening Europa League games, then picked up 14 points from our first 6 games, including a record equaling hammering of Man City on Saturday, then I think we'd all have a different point of view. Makes you think. Fine margins and all that.
N No there would still be one or two on here, moaning that we should have won the Cup Final 7-0 (thus establishing a new record) and then questioning why we have dropped 4 points already this season.
We got off lightly. Watch the highlights on the official site...…..it should have been 7 after 25 minutes. Aguero was through 1 v 1 and chipped his chance wide, then he hit the post a minute later then the rebound hits Foster and goes the wrong side of the post. https://www.watfordfc.com/matches/highlights/highlights-man-city-8-0-watford I think you'd have to go down to the level of Sunday pub football before you'd find a side bad enough to be 7-0 down after 25 minutes, as we should have been.
Ridiculous to say this. You know damn well comments like this should be kept to yourself until we are all in the boozer to discuss over some pintz and bantz.
I'm sure that you don't mean me in that description of forum members - so I won't call you an obnoxious, insulting, entitled little tick. BTW you seem to have a new admirer in RookeryLad that's some endorsement....
Serious question, but what is the tipping point for people when anger at losing 8-0 etc turns into laughter? Let's be honest, we are so bad it's actually quite funny. I remember when we had that appalling season under Bassett. In the end people were actually laughing at the players when they made mistakes, because it was so comical. For me, that's got to be the ultimate insult to players, when your own fans laugh at you.
And rightly, questions would be asked, but I think most of us would be happy to give the Pozzos a bit more time if we were still in touching distance of the top of the table and on course for a Europa, premier League, League Cup and FA Cup quadruple.
I've been in the pub since yesterday soaking up the atmosphere, gossip and bantz generally. It was an honour for a small club like hours to have been on the same pitch as those gods. You're gonna lose a few games 8-0 at this level. Better than beating Rochdale 1-0.
...or losing to them 2-1 at Spotland. Oh god, the memories - Horthur Arsefield - get out of my head.....
I physically burst out laughing reading the times of the goals. Thank you I needed that after that ****y result Saturday.
Tierney is the ref and Friend is on VAR......not that it makes any difference these days. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...e-watfords-away-game-wolverhampton-wanderers/
Yeah I’m expecting a lot of **** from my Liverpool / ManUtd and Chelsea supporting friends this Friday
Anyway enough of this self flagellation In the last 18 months we have become the record holder of the quickest goal conceded, equalled the record for largest defeat in an FA Cup final , are 2nd place in the largest ever defeat in the premiership Wonder what record we will set this week , I suspect the most number of red cards in one match. While researching what the number is I came across this: Don’t know if it’s true or not, but suggest we keep this up our sleeves for the next time it starts to go wrong
