Well that was a waste of time. I really do think that the hornet idea was a bad idea. They (WFC)have learnt that if you want something done properly you hire the right people to do it. The current badge was done in the same amateurish manner and although it’s poor it has been tweaked over the years into something acceptable. It needs changing but not in this manner.
A friendly forum member just sent me the link to them. I wish they hadn't. The club has to be on the windup. They are ******* horrific.
Thanks to the individual who sent them to me. You know who you are! My verdict? Stick with what you know. Not a huge fan of any of them.
Relegated then playing our first season back in the smalltime with one of those shitstains on our shirts. Oh joy.
I'd go for the one we have now. However if you had to pick one, which would it be? My choice would be Q. The worst? L, but many are close to it.
We should just put a picture of QSF’s face where the badge is. And start playing in sharply tailored suits.
Well we won't have to worry about marketing ourselves across the world if we get relegated. No one will care !
Most of the selected badges are technically better than mine. Would be interested to see some of the designs with Harts posted here. It is hard to include the Hart and Hornet together on the badge and make it work. I'm not convinced that mine does work but would be interested know what people think. Bad line work aside I quite like the overall look. There are some stronger designs others have entered which didn't get picked and with a bit of tweaking (which I think they are allowed to do) could have been better options. The mostly negative feedback shows that the panel have really let the process down. I'm sure there are some great Hart badges. Please share them if you can. https://www.talenthouse.com/item/2207078/62348012
No! No It has to be "B". It loks like it's got its hand on its hips and I can imagine it in a really camp voice saying "Watchoo thing you're looking at!".
Its a no from me. The hart looks odd but the horns look great. Not sure about the mirrored badge shape either. Think they should use a hart of some sort though.
None of this really matters though as it's clear the marketing department/the club have already chosen their new badge
Hello guys, I'm a designer and football fan that took on the contest. I just wanted to share my creation with you. Respect! https://www.talenthouse.com/item/2214089/31860083
It's going to happen. Sure it's got something to do with Pozzo wanting to sort out the image rights & licencing, in advance of us getting into Europe at the end of this season.
I submitted a design and it didn't make the cut, so this is my view on the 20 shortlisted - please be aware that following non-selection, I am now like a irrational toddler; totally bitter and against the idea of a change of badge at all.... The design brief stated: "Your badge can be any shape, but it should be a distinctive shape. Watford FC like that its current badge isn't a traditional circle or shield shape." - At least 6 shortlisted designs are either circular or shield shaped. "Only use the club’s colours in your badge: yellow, black, red. See the Design Guide for Pantone colours " 5 designs have white in the badge 4 have different shades of the stipulated yellow, red or black colours. 2 have tinges of Luton orange! "Consider that a small version of the badge may be used, so it shouldn't contain elements that won't be visible at this size e.g. fine lines, intricate detail etc." 6 of the designs have intricate lines that would either blur if small or not be reproducible when used in manufacturing However, I would say that some of the designs that have made the cut are great, but some are way too modern. I know was part of the brief, but my view is that, as we all know, people don't like change. So I would (and did) make the design as similar to the existing one as possible. Maybe mine was too similar. Happy, now, to share mine if people give a ****.
Handy that the geezer that created the Simpsons character banners has submitted a couple of these laughable new logos. I'm still laughing about them. I've shown supporters of other teams who are also laughing. 6-0 mauling in the cup final, bottom of the league and now this. An absolute laughing stock. Thanks Gino and Scott.
I think it's B that is the plant. I was contacted on twitter randomly by a so called Watford fan working at a marketing company to see if they liked their design. Apparently the same lady approached a few Watford fans in the same way. And lo behold her design is in the final 20.
Being contacted by a random new account on twitter just seemed a bit too suspect to me. I'm keeping my tin foil hat firmly on.
