You have to be joking.
B is horrible
Out of interest, how many is the club asking you each to choose and by when?
Hi everyone, I am one of the many designers from all over the world who had entered the competition to redesign Watford F.C's crest. As per the leaked image of the final 20 selected I am not up there and I feel extremely disappointed because like many others I had put in a lot of thought behind it and in spite of not belonging to Hertfordshire, I tried my best to represent the values of the club through my design. I feel that my idea was lost in the sea of entries and I would like to reach out to some of you and explain the design myself.
Unfortunately it appears the angle of the curve in your badge is reminiscent of the layout of part of the Watford ringroad, which was the scene of a horrific traffic jam at Christmas 1993. They're still recovering mummified remains today. I should imagine if you belonged to Hertfordshire you'd have known that and avoided such an insensitive design?
I feel that there is no Watford F.C without Hertfordhshire, and the very name is a tribute to the hart. Keeping in mind the strong ties that the club has to the community and it’s roots, I had to include the hart head. But, in a more subtle manner so that there is no mistaking that these are The Hornets. But, deep inside them lies the hart.
You do realise that the UK is a (the) world leader in industrial graphic design. All of whom shake their heads in disbelief at the state of our bank-notes.
Also, the hornet symbol is made up of 11 parts to represent the 11 players of the team. Each part of the symbol, is as crucial as the next. Without even one part, the symbol becomes terribly incomplete. After all, it's only playing together that makes the Hornet’s sting hurt.
Where is it’s eyes?
It looks like a blind hornet doing a Mexican wave.
If we want them, we'll get them. End of.
Fingers crossed you get the nod for a playing piece in the Official Watford FC Trivial Pursuit game.
Our current badge is perfect. And you can't improve on perfection.
As for the hornet, I actually think it's a nice quirky little bit of trivia when people ask why there's a moose on the badge when we're called the hornets. There's no need for everything to be so literal.
1 choice. 15th September
Thats better than most there
Can you abstain?
It seems to me that you have the bodyshape wrong - it's too feminine and more like that of a bee. Perhaps submit it to Watford Ladies or Brentford FC (who call themselves The Bees)?
Oh - and steer clear of our testosterone-filled captain, Troy Deeney. I think he'd take umbrage and carry out some nasty reprisals. Just ask Joe Allen of Stoke.
How this didn’t make it beggars belief when looking at the state of those options.
It's just the same as the others isn't it? Angry insect or animal? Check. 1881? Check. Bizarre shape? Check. There's only so many variations on the same theme they could put in I guess.
Great in theory, however most games lately we haven't had 8 out the 11 working hard together much
Something about the Watford doesn't look right.
I think it's the letter spacing
Having seen them on Twitter, I actually quite like J. Wouldn't be unhappy if that was our new badge.
The whole idea of the new badge was to move away from the hart. I like TJD's designs and this one is good, but even he knows this was crossing the boundary with regard to the brief.
It very well could be, it doesn't look prominent enough for me.
A - 50/50
B - 100% NO, worst one out of them all!!!!!!!!
C - NO
D - NO
E - 50/50
F - NO
G - NO
H - NO
I - 60/40
J - Best one
K - NO
L - NO
M - NO, looks like a female brand
N - NO
O - NO
P - NO
Q - NO
R - Second Best, although the date is wrong
S - NO
T - NO
So out of the hundreds of designs and designers, we are left with a pile of cow dung. The only ones that made me look twice were/was, J, R, I, A and E - in that order. However I would keep our current badge. Shame really, I was actually excited about a badge change but not now.
Sorry Thomas. At least you have your banners still.
My life on this forum gets worse, first HB1 posts right after me, making it appear that he’s my brother in another thread and now I’m Thomas. I’m off to go support my first club Man City.
That would be my preference.
Not a moose, not a weird thin legged bee, an actual hart
I'm borrowing HB1's tin-foil hat for this one.
Doesn’t look anything like a Moose
Let’s be honest.
If our current badge was an entry, we’d all be ripping it for looking like a goofy gormless cartoon moose.
It's got legs!
After seeing the final 20 list I must admit i'm actually quite glad mine didn't get selected as it would seriously make me question my design ability. I mean, I know design is subjective, but **** me most of those are abysmal and don't deserve to be anywhere near contention.
K (looks like Stoke) and Q (looks like Everton) are the only two that could possibly pass for a Premier League club badge IMO. I've seen many other, far better designs that have somehow been overlooked in favour of some these clip art logos.
