Brighton have been playing OK this season, it was mainly the opening day they were clearly not ready, which was a real shame as it was us they faced that day.
One of them games where an early goal for us is vital as Huddersfield would them have to come out and play....or it could be a long afternoon .I can see a 1 or 2 nil win ,with the goals late in the second half
Normally I would say this has a loss written all over it but for some reason I really feel like we can have a decent season. 2-1 Watford. Success and Hughes.
From football365 Since the beginning of March, Huddersfield have had 121 shots at home. They have scored one goal. One! https://www.football365.com/news/premier-league-winners-and-losers-jose-mourinho-liverpool I was there for it..
Actually not quite - apparently Keen was sacked by SEJ on the morning of the game and John Collins took over for the rest of the season. So Keen's last match in charge was at the Recreation Ground, Aldershot where I witnessed a 2-1 loss for the Hornets in front of a 4,000 crowd. Makes losing 2-0 to the Arsenal somewhat less hurtful surely. We took 3 points (out of 4) from Huddersfield that season in the 4th Division, drawing 2-2 at Leeds Road. The previous season (as in 2016-17) they did the double over us - their 2-0 win at Vicarage Road was one of the defeats in the first 3 games to send us bottom of the entire League (for a week). All this only 7 years after losing to them on the night they clinched promotion to the First Division - their fall was more spectacular than ours in the early 70s.
Holebas in for Massina and keep the rest the same. Thought Mapps deserved to stay in especially as Kabasele has gone into brainfart mode in his last 3 games being red carded twice and conceding 3 penalties ( yes I know Lacazette wasnt awarded but it was defo pen) We should give Isaac a run of games to see if he can scores some goals against the TinPotters we ve got in the next 3 games.
Mike Dean is officiating this one. He can be controversial, but I think he's one of the decent refs. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...mier-league-game-to-be-refereed-by-mike-dean/
It's easier to say which ones I don't like. On the current Premier League circuit there are five I don't rate for obvious reasons. Michael Oliver, Jon Moss, Anthony Taylor, Lee Mason & Lee Probert. The rest are fair minded and seem to officiate without prejudice, which is exactly all you want from an official. We watch the game to see the players, not the referee. It's all about Oliver when he officiates. Moss, Mason and Taylor are just extremely poor and Probert is just a d1ck. There are a lot of decent refs though. The ones I rate are Atkinson, Marriner, Pawson, East, Kavanagh & Tierney, the rest are ok...ish.
I agree. Mike Dean tends to favour the smaller club, which is an unusual trait. Refs like Taylor, Mason and Moss always favour the bigger club. This is why these particular three are usually poor for Watford when we're playing one of the top 6.
Kavanagh had a howler for the non-given penalty last night though....was yards away with an unobstructed view. Would love to know his reasons for thinking it wasn’t a penalty.
Yes, I saw that. It’s another one of those that the bigger side get away with. Clear penalty not given and would probably have changed the result. But it was Leicester, so I like him even more because of it.
I would go with the following Formation: Foster Delofeu Cathcart Mariappa Pereyra Hughes Gray Deeney Success Okaka Sema We don't need more than 2 defenders for this game. It's a chance for all our attackers to bang in hatfuls of goals and get their confidence up. We should be aiming for 12 or 13 goals.
I predicted us to lose to Wolves and was massively happy to be proven wrong. Huddersfield is the type of game we should be wining but this is Watford we’re talking about. I sort of agree with what @Mollyboo said about them, they aren’t a crappy side, Aston Villa were well below what Huddersfield are like now. They remind me of Middlesbrough when they came up last. Play sone nice football in parts but can’t seem to score. Going to be bold and say if we keep the same starting 11 and formation we should have enough to win this, but it’s not going to be a mauling. I cannot see us playing like we did last season in the same fixture. I was so so angry that day afterwards and kicked a wheelie bin over they way home I remember. For one it’s not Snake Face in charge and as others have said, Gracia probably will not let a performance like the muff one happen again if he can help it. Success to bag one, Hughes to smash one in off the inside of the post. 2-0.
Not precise enough - which post, left or right? Although, perhaps their goalkeeper might be reading this, so perhaps not.
Weather for Saturday 3pm is 8 degrees and cloudy, so we should still be able to nick it by 1 goal. A couple of degrees colder and it would have been a draw.
I bet that we'd beat or draw with Bournemouth and we lost. I bet that we'd lose to Wolves and we won. I'm going to make a bet that we'll beat Huddersfield, so we'll almost inevitably lose.
The sort of game that you hope will be a routine win. 2-0 with one scored in either half. No surprises and worthy of little comment. Next to last on MOTD. But there's always that unpleasant nagging doubt.
When Michael Fish takes on Lawro in the BBC prediction thing, he’s going to slaughter to slaughter him.
