Big personal game for me. Taking my 6 year old to his first game at the Vic (he’s previously managed Woking and Wimbledon away). Uber excitement.
Moutinho will be most pleased to be credited with that when it was Neves who made the tackle! To be fair to Doucoure, he’d sprinted the length of the pitch to get there and I think only the best finishers would have hit that first time. Was more a great bit of defending than a poor piece of finishing IMO. Let’s also not forget we played 3 in the middle last season which allowed him more freedom to get forward into the box. I think he has to limit that type of thing now and work more in tandem with Capoue. 4-0 today. Really fancy us to put a few past them.
They were all dressed in the same colour shirts. Most unfair. Neves it was, then. I don't disagree with any of that - you may well be right. It's just that, whenever he does get into scoring positions, these days he seems a bit more hesitant.
A few Huddersfield fans at Northampton services. One was next to me at the urinal. I let a bit of my spray hit his shoe.
I don't know about hitting it early but he could have steered the ball away from Neves, keeping his body between defender and ball. It was a good tackle but not amazing as the ball was presented quite nicely for him to poke away
Giving the piss, instead of taking the piss? Are you sure that isn't a form of greeting up in Yoorkshire?
Yep nothing wrong with not changing a winning team!! Okaka to come off the bench and score the winner...
Bit concerned about Hudders' wingers (especially Kadgagoogoo) vs. Femenia and Masina. Peyreyra and Hughes will have to not let them pass halfway.
I'm pleased we've kept the midfield and attack the same, but I'd have been tempted to bring back Kaba and Holebas in to the defence. It's nigh on never that Mariappa goes two games in a row without a big error, and Holebas has more pace to track opposition wingers than Masina. It's understandable that Javi has given both second chances after we were so good vs Wolves, but it's inevitable that as soon as one of them makes a costly screw-up they'll be straight back on the bench for the following game.
Half time Two stunning goals We've not played well On another day Huddersfield could of had 4! I love Isaac but today his pass has gone to a man in blue every time
Excellent result and win with some great goals. We should have won about 8-0 though. A lot of sublime attacking football which was brilliant to watch, but repeatedly extremely wasteful in front of goal. Very, very promising in the past two games, though.
Success would have been MotM for his nutmeg on Hogg alone (would be great to have a gif of such a magical moment), but he gave a very good all-round performance on top of that as well.
Mentioned it in the shoutbox, but it makes me laugh when you have Success playing like that (as he did last week too), and then you've got Gayle on commentary talking about how much better we'll be with Deeney back in the side. Why is there such a weird bias towards Deeney? Success has looked better the past two games than Deeney has in years, and we've looked a far better side for it.
Strange to say in a 3-0 home win but I think Foster was MOTM today. Could have been a different story this afternoon without some vital aves.
Great result , 2 stunning goals and some really really good runs Didn’t think they were that bad, but foster kept us safe with a really good performanc, good to see a clean sheet But and it’s a minor but, we waisted so many chances and our passing wasn’t as clinical as it was against wolves, if it had been I think we would have had 7. Especially wasteful in the last 10 mins, but guess everybody wanted a goal. Issac looks so good, but his passing in the box wasn’t right and his finishing is a bit weak, however am sure with the confidence of scoring hits first league goal this year will continue to improve Doucoure seems to have lost his confidence in front of goal, Pererya and GD looked almost unplayable , Hughes solid performance , didn’t really notice Capoue today, kept expecting him to pop up and put 1 in. I can’t help thinking we are almost a really really good side
Where’s that Northern monkey that @Clive_ofthe_Kremlin told to feck off a couple of weeks ago now, eh?
Great result, 3-0 but it could easily have been about 7-3 were it not for some wasted chances and some top Foster saves. I thought we were bossing them for a good time, then took our foot off the gas before half time. Thankfully Javi must have pepped them up again as we came out so strongly for the second half and were really dominant. Success played brilliantly today but was just a little wasteful with some of his passes and decision making. Really happy for him to get his goal, and I think he's my MoM (closely followed by foster). Deulofeu and Pereyra are absolutely scintillating, I can't believe Deu missed that chance when he was put through by Success though. Apart from those above, the whole team played pretty well and the result was never really in any doubt. Huddersfield weren't terrible but we just outclassed them. I'm loving this formation, loving Success's development and loving the points! COYH
What's fundamentally changed this season is that you have the complete confidence in this squad that they will still control & go on to win the game after scoring, rather than the old days of shaky defence & hanging on in the last 20 minutes. Got to hand it to Gracia. He has got all the transition play from defence through to attack flowing fluidly & autonomously. You get the sense he really understands the squad & its an absolute pleasure to watch.
Gosh this really is a wonderful time to be a Watford supporter eh! 19 points already in the bag, from just 10 games. More than halfway to guaranteed survival and the clocks haven’t even gone back yet. And we’ve started keeping clean sheets as well to go with our exciting attacking play. Just brilliant, and even this old misery has a spring in his step and a big smile on his face after all his pre-season worries! Really enjoyed today’s game. Thought Huddersfield were spirited and even started the better, but you can see why they’ve been so woefully short of goals so far this season. And then after a few early scares, our quality came to the fore. Whoever could have dreamt under the bad old days of Bas that in just a few years time we’d be at the Vic watching two excellent first-half goals scored by players we’d signed from Juve and Barca. Wow just wow! Heady days! Well done one and all.
