Looks like Pardew's fate is in our hands https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/feb/25/alan-pardew-given-week-to-halt-west-brom-slump Apologies if already posted. I've got a little behind. Reading the forum, that is.
Yes - saw that and it is about the oddest decision I have seen - made public. We know managers are often one defeat from the sack but to come out and suggest it in public is weird. West Brom have a tough run in. So too do Southampton and Stoke. They are my three favourites for relegation at the moment. Mind you if we lose to West Brom I will go into panic mode again.
WBA Stoke and Palace down. Wolves Villa and Fulham up. Swap a London club and two midlands clubs (my daughter at Birmingham uni so nice to go with her to local games).
He's no Albert McLenaghan In case anyone had forgotten /wasn't aware http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11309181.On_this_date_in_Watford_FC_history/
He seems to have got away with the general criticism of Arsenal over their past 2 displays...probably sums up the media love in for Wilshere. As for Ali - he will be a walking yellow/red card in the World Cup with the reputation he will have.
Of course. Btw, between your post, TUT, & the article, Albert's surname is spelt in 3 different ways. Another unusual hat trick.
Would be highly unusual if none of the promoted sides get relegated. I'm saying WBA, Swansea, Huddersfield
WBA obviously. Stoke's run in is utterly awful after Southampton. Still them 2 plus anyone of 6 others for me.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if Everton went on a run like our finish to last season. Is there any chance of that happening?
I don't think any premier games will be cancelled Clubs in this league don't they have to meet premium requirements for multiple weather scenarios? In and around the ground ? Though I would allow extra time to get there
Please let's give West Brom a push in the right direction, I mean apart from Ellington, the chants about "The football Team" under Betty, Pullisball what have the Baggies done to us?
I really do not get the point that others enjoyed our time in lower divisions more. The point of being in a division below is that there is a goal to be promoted. The only times I have enjoyed watford play in lower divisions is when there have been promoted. The last 3 years have been far more enjoyable than most of the last 30 years. The highs of winning at home to liverpool, man utd and chelsea are a lot better than being in a division below. I have enjoyed the our time in the premier league. Relegation would mean a rebuild as a lot of players would want to leave. There is no assurance of promotion straight in our first year in a division below. I think it would take us 5 years to return to where we are now. Once we return our key players from injury and sign a striker who scores 15 a season we are very close to being the best outside the top 6. In fact why not go for that europa league spot as its possible now
I don't understand that either. I have seen written, that some amongst us would sooner we be in the Championship, and I bet they would want us to be promoted, but then why if they prefer us to be a Championship side? I love us being able to compete at this level. I hope we stay premier League for many seasons.
A lot of games are utterly dull, a lot of games are backs to the wall 90 minute defending, 8 games less a season, there can be 2-3 weeks between games, cup never taken seriously, season has been effectively over with nothing to play for by pretty much the end of January for 3 years. Yes we get some good occasional highs but there are more in the championship. Of course we want success and growth but the football is immensely more entertaining in the championship.
Didn't realise how good Doucoure has been. 7 goals from 12 shots on target, and ranked 11th in the league for the most passess
Nice even comments there. It is slightly odd that they have said 37 for safety and plotted each path to it when SAM in the same article has 18th and 19th being relegated with 38?
SAM numbers seem overly high and don't match the accompanying analysis - e.g. giving WBA 12 points from their last 10.. I think they have every team in the 'relegation mix' down to get >10 points from their last 10 games
Yeah, it reads a bit like they wrote the article and then got the numbers from SAM and thought, 'ah fook it, lets publish anyway'.
They have basically said that every team will stay exactly where they are apart from newcastle moving one place up vs huddersfield and leicester moving one place up vs burnley. Tough job being a journo. Ffs
I think this thread can now be closed...at least from our point of view. And running our current position through my model 1,000 times shows how much impact 2 wins has at this time of the year, Out of 1,000 seasons only 3 times do get relegated! Please don't be one of those seasons!!!
These 2 wins reminded me of last season when we beat Sunderland and Swansea 1-0 to reach 40 points. I hope we can pass that now!
Two crucial wins have restored a healthy cushion. Sure we have 2 tough away games but we aren't alone in that. I reckon the team in 18th will go down on 36 so whilst not mathematically safe we all but are. We should now be looking to finish on a high, we still play Burnley at home so can still catch them
For the first time in a while, there’s a little gap opening up. Muff 3 1/2 points ahead of WHU in 14th. I hope Udders are ok & also Soton. They do a huge amount for youth development (aka Liverpool). Otherwise, any of the other 5 is superb. Ideally all of them.
I always want the teams with the most potential to be a big club to go down. That means Newcastle, west ham and Everton. Failing any of them, Southampton. Then comes stoke and West Brom, then crystal palace and Swansea. I hope all the newly promoted teams stay up as they're gash and will stay gash next season.
I wonder if it will be the ex Pulis clubs that go down: West Brom Stoke Palace Also could be those with a link to Pardew West Brom Palace West Ham/Newcastle Had a look to see how the fans of the bottom 4 teams were feeling (unintended schadenfreude), West Brom fans resigned to their fate now, Southampton fans seem very concerned, Stoke fans appear quite confident that Lambert has stopped the rot but concerned that they may not have the games to turn it around totally, and Palace fans are 50/50. I'm going to Huddersfield and obviously want us to win because I think we should be aiming for 45 points now, but if losing to them ultimately sends a Palace or West Ham down I wouldn't be as annoyed as usual
I think if West Brom and Stoke go down, they don’t have the ability to bounce back up again and see them spending a decent amount of time in the championship. The Stoke players were arguing amongst themselves yesterday and most will jump ship if they go down. West Brom players will do the same. As for the third team, it would be great if it is Palace or West Ham. Unfortunately I think it will be Newcastle, Swansea, Southampton or Huddersfield.
Sadly I think it will be Huddersfield despite our help ! It was amazing they got promoted after conceding more than they scored in the champ. Their manager must be fantastic.
We are now 250-1 to get relegated according to Skybet Everton 50-1 and Muff 33-1, West Brom 16-1 on They go for Stoke and Huddersfield to go down with the Baggies
