Oh no, I’ve liked you’re post now I don’t know if i’ve missed something obvious and you’re trolling me or do you think I’m trolling you. Are you Moog? Am I Moog?

No, I don't reckon he will personally. We've not seen enough of him to really know, but certainly there have been quite a few glaring faults.

He's presided over one of our biggest ever home spankings, made injudicious public comments about the owners, fallen out to greater or lesser degrees with several players that we know about (Capoue, Okaka, Dja Djede, Deeney), publicly disparaged others before they've even played (Waggue, Zeegelaar) and presided over a £12 million striker former record signing disgracing himself publicly with prostitutes and booze excess.

Tactically he's all about speed and counter attack. That's why he plays Gray so much. His teams have consistently failed to break down teams playing a defensive game against us (hence the poor home record). See home draw against Brighton and defeat to Stoke. He's made one or two catastrophic substitutions which have tipped games against us.

I think he's got lucky with some players here hitting purple form and showing their capabilities. In particular Richarlison, Doucoure and Tom Cleverly. Your supporters' over-the-top despicable treatment of the latter is why I don't think Silva will succeed at Everton.

While counter attack tactics have their benefit for honest, humble, down to earth teams like our dear and beloved Hornets, whom the glamorous glittering premiership giants expect to whop every time we meet (I'm sure you're familiar with variations on the well worn phrase "If we can't even beat the likes of Watford..." etc), I'm not so sure how they'll play out at self-declared giants such as your good selves.

    You have bigger demands.

PS I'm strictly Alf Garnett when it comes to lazy long-haired Scouse git boyfriends...

  3. Everton are ***d. Moshiri is the new Venkys. League 1 beckons.

Half serious about this. Forest, Leeds, Villa,Sunderland aren't coming back anytime soon- the lower leagues are full of teams too good to go down.

Very good appraisal. I think you’re bang on with the bit about speed and counter attack, that makes exciting football.
We haven’t seen any good home performances though.

I was just about to go on to who should Marco sign for us in January...could they handle playing at Goodison...it takes immense character...

If Everton get Silva and that's a big if. It'll be a world record fee for a manager.

Which on it's own is mental

    77? JCL ;)

Well we've had a history of people coming on the board posing as away fans trying to stir things up. I'm sure all football message boards get the same thing.

Incidentally 1977 was really the birth of the modern Watford.. when Taylor came along. We were indeed in the 4th Division when you started going to football but 5 years later we were beating the Toffees in our first ever top flight fixture (Did you go?)
Mind you we were payed back after that, winning only one further fixture during the 80's. Our record verses Everton may well be the worst verses a side we have played at least 20 games against. Won 3, drew 3 and lost 19.

Your 70m 'war chest' probably won't be enough to bag Richarlison.

What is it about Everton that takes more character to manage than any other club that's won FA in recent history?

He did not sign any players for Watford, he would have been asked his opinion on the proposed targets. It was reported that he was upset Kieran Gibbs was not signed from Arsenal. He may have had more influence at Hull when they brought in players last January. I am surprised Silva is seen as a better option by Everton than say Eddie Howe or Chris Houghton.

I dunno mate, that's what makes it so intriguing and infuriating to be honest, probably the biggest club on the planet, yet can't get it right for long periods in regards to winning a trophy...how do you work that one out?

Having seen the Silva press conference, he's clearly highly media trained. Football managers would make great politicians if they failed in sport. They are brilliant at avoiding the question. You could ask him which chocolate he likes from a box of Roses, and he'd say something like he doesn't like to talk about individual chocolates, only about the box as a whole.

This is how he presents himself. He is incredibly guarded in his interviews, but on this occasion I think fans may have taken it the wrong way. His style is to evade, but there was an opportunity to pin his colours firmly to the Watford mast, which was missed and that was a shame.

Personally I think Silva will stay, but if he does go, I wish him well.

Mirror now saying that Gino is demanding £15 mill but Moshiri will only pay £10 mill.

Was doubtful this was going to happen up until now , but once the seller reveals an asking price then it's only a matter of time before an agreement is met.

If the story is true from the mirror, then one would imagine £12-13 mill compensation will be reached sometime this week.

I wonder who Gino has got lined up ?

He could be the next Guardiola who just needs to learn how to organise defences, or he could be the next Martinez , lots of fancy football but weak as sh1te at the back.

The comparisons to Mourinho are only becuas he's Portuguese and a media tart. The football could not be more different between the two managers .

He likes fast wingers who track back 100% , fast and technically excellent attacking FBs, tactically and technical midfielders who can create, defend and cover a LOT of ground .

CBs need to be fast as he likes to pay a very high line , pressing th oppositiion in their own half . This leaves you very susceptible to the ball over the top. If the CBs aren't fast then you will get done constantly . Just watch our game against WBA where they did that to us repeatedly .

I have to say Everton's slow , ageing defence and a lack of quality wingers makes their squad very unsuited to Silvas style so expect a big over haul in January when all the overpriced, unwanted players go on sale for over inflated prices.

But I wouldn't agree with you in saying Everton manager is a huge job . I don't think many people in football would say that nowadays.

I'd say it's up there with the Southampton or Stoke jobs . Certainly not on the par with the West Ham job .

Cheers mate...I love teams that can defend the half way line, just like Everton in 1984-85...probably the greatest club side in the history of the game...

Why is he snakey? Isn't he still the Watford head coach?

He cannot go anywhere unless Gino allows it. So if he does go, are you going to be calling Gino names too.....after all he's the man that would have allowed it to happen.

It'll be alright, he'll only be here for two games, then we'll appoint the groundsman or someone else completely unqualified for a couple of games, then we'll get Slav back just in time for Christmas.
