Have to agree that the spurs kit is awful. Cant stand it. Now just waiting for our kit to be released, hopefully we'll get some news in the coming days as hinted on the clubs twitter page.

I really hate the idea that top teams have kits that are from templates. I'm sure this didn't always use to be the case?

As a Premier League side we should have a bespoke kit from a top manufacturer.

I agree, don't see any reason why we shouldn't be given a template. Not fair to class us out of having a personal design, especially as some of the templates from manufacturers just don't seem like they would suit us.

Arsenals Puma kit so much better quality than our kit, hopefully because we are premier and seen around the world they will up the quality and a bit more thought in the design, if it is puma, did not like either of the last two puma home kits, the first one was good, this years away shirt was good, could not stand last seasons.

Umbro seem to be a bit more active so hopefully them or would be great the get adidas, don't thinks have been that good recently.

Our kits were supplied by Genesis sports, who use Puma templates. Arsenal's kit is actually Puma, which explains the difference.

I despise the stripe on Spurs' new shirt.

Not on the main section have to do a small bit of digging. Club implying it's any day now.

@lowerrous: "Any idea when the new kit out? holidays coming and other clubs already out? @watfordfcsays"
@watfordfcsays: "Not much longer to wait. Keep an eye on social media and official club website. Thanks"

That would look dreadful. You wouldn't be able to see the mcdonalds logo, it clashes with the kit! But i'm pretty sure I heard somewhere (possibly this forum) that 138 renewed there deal.

McDonalds already sponsor world cup and the mascots don't they? Would be difficult to incorporate a yellow M on a yellow shirt?

But not if we have a big red sash across the front!

I can't see what McDonalds would have to gain by sponsoring us. Their strategy is all around big ticket events and tie-ins that enable them to exclusively trade at them.

Well if the head is a Watford fan then he has something to gain but for the company on the whole not much point.

A McDonalds in the SW corner perhaps? It's crying out for something.

Or better yet, we could go one better than the arch at Wembley and have a McDonalds arch over Vicarage Road. A glorious sight!

The amount of jokes based off of a McDonalds sponsorship worries me greatly.

Dont see why there would be any objection whatsoever to any of that.

Now that would really put us on the map. People shall travel from all over the world to see this magnificent stadium!

Thanks for that so is our deal with genesis or puma, how does it actually work? Are all genesis kits puma?

That's interesting to know, I just assumed puma were more concerned with arsenals kit than ours,

As I understood it the deal is with Genesis and according to their website (http://www.genesissports.co.uk/) they are Puma's exclusive licensee in the UK. So yeah only Puma stuff.

Puma pay Arsenal £30m/yr to make their kit so it's no wonder they give them a bit of special attention in the design!

The crucial difference - Puma pay Arsenal to supply their kit(s) whereas 'we' have been paying Puma (indirectly though Genesis) for ours. I've always wondered how much of a financial "hit" Mizuno and Burrda took to make our kits. The Burrda deal must have been really juicy as they were shirt sponsors as well.

I know it will nothing like the arsenal deal but I thought puma would pay us a small sum to advertise on our kits and they will obviously make sales, or is it all different from years ago when the club did not have an monopoly on selling the kit, is it all taken into the deal they supply the kit at a certain price so the club can sell them at a profit?

The thing that depresses me on there is if you buy a standard Puma kit, it's like £9. Add a club badge to the same templates and it's £40.

Dunno. The first I heard about the exclusive part of the deal was when my son, a few years ago, saw "Le Coq Sportif" tops for sale in Bovvie - (a couple of seasons after they were 'official'?). The bloke on the stall said that the club had the exclusive right to sell kit (any kit) and was very active in enforcing it.

Talking of kit makers and local sponsors - why don't we have successful locally based TK MAXX as our sponsor and supplier? Then we could have kits made by Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Diesel, Moscino etc.?

  32. I'm curious why people think that just because we're a premier league team it means that a giant multinational should give us a bespoke kit. If you're Puma/Nike/Adidas we're small fry that really isn't worth the effort - we might sell 20,000 shirts, if we're lucky.

Exactly. Shirt sponsors will be the area we will profit compared to previous years. Kit manufacturers won't care.

I'm pretty sure we'll get a template. My opinion though is that from looking at Rotherham/Wolves Puma put minimal thought and effort into their templates. Other manufacturers have more innovative ones.
