The funny thing is that on Udinese's forum he's absolutely not rated and frequently named as "the Sloth". As you said, only a question of style of play. Guidolin in Udinese wants midfielders quite quick, while Zola's 3-5-2 seems to have been perfect for him, with his precision in shots and assists. His 12 goals were really quality! Edit P.S.: that's one of the best things in the idea of the 3 teams IMHO. Some players too quickly branded as "failures" might shine in another team, with another manager and different playing style.
He's not even that slow, he carries the ball very quickly. I don't think he was ever really given a thorough chance at Udinese, but like you say, that's the benefit of the trio.
He's an unbelievably stylish player, so confident in possession and his distribution is tremendous. Remember last season when Sean Murray was the ray of light in our team, and now we have players like Abdi who are just streets ahead of players we had in the past.
Am with hairy on this one. Maybe different types of player, but imo the best 2 midfielders to pull on our shirt
He just doesn't put a foot wrong, media or otherwise. Seems like a real tryer in all aspects of the club despite being so good at what he does. Can't put into words how highly I rate him, easily my favourite player in my lifetime. I really do hope he stays, what a massive confidence boost the other players must get from seeing him, seems like someone you'd definitely rely on.
He seems a genuinely nice guy and that goes for all of the loanees. Here's hoping they realise their dreams at Wembley, they so deserve it and certainly much more than those sarf London gangster rappers.
I like looking at the holiday snaps he posts on his website.. seems very down to earth and genuine top bloke!
Crystal Phallus fans on Almen Abdi It's no surprise that they're into that sort of thing. It's probably why Selhurst Park is designed to look like a giant dog's egg. Everything about that club is tailored to appeal to Cleveland Steamer lovers.
Rumour has it that when they found the Brighton poo, they scooped it up and put it in a cup to share amongst themselves.
Almen Abdi's Facebook videos. Was just having a little scroll through and came across this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3225083178783&set=vb.144402678956852&type=3&theater I'm referring to the line ups. Just bear in mind this is a Europa League game and we now have 3 of the players who were in this squad, including one starter. These players are all ones who have experienced football at such a high level. Just bear in mind that Abdi didn't even make a starting spot in that team, one of the best players I've seen at the Vic in absolutely ages, how good must Fabbrini be!? It really has just hit me how lucky we are. We have got one hell of a season coming up!
It's crazy watching the Celtic game video as they go down the line up and you're like....watford....watford....watford....watford and these are starters in the Europa League playing for little old watford!!! Abdi, Ekstrand, Battocchio, Fabbrini all started that match as did Neuton but doubt he'll be back.
Crazy to think we have a midfielder who took a penalty in an important Europa League game away at Celtic Park and scored...and who is about to enter his prime.
Reminds me of when we signed John McClelland.....little old Watford signing the Glasgow Rangers captain. Was a major coup back then.
Yeah, it's honestly crazy. Not sure why they've all dropped a league either really, they must all really want to play. Similar sort of thing really, on a much bigger scale though.
http://vimeo.com/69967143 That's worth a watch, if this doesn't work go on his facebook page, it's the latest one. Or click download on the vimeo site.
Grinned all the way through that. I cant believe he is with us permanently, an absolute pleasure to watch.
You all seem to think they're big time. Jamie Vardy, Martyn Waghorn, Zak Whitbread and Conrad Logan say to me; 'We're the big boys, pipe the **** down Watford.'
He really does. His agent also seems to be a very savvy bloke. Nothing to upset his current club/fans in the videos, but everything is prefaced with the agency name and agent's name. Just a small reminder that Abdi's services are available for the right price.
Yeah seems like a clever agent for a clever player really. Like the whole setup of Abdi, doesn't look for the limelight but is very friendly. I'd imagine his agent is doing very well too. Worth stickying this thread? He seems to come out with a fair amount of stuff worth viewing... Otherwise I'll keep bumping it up when I see things!
Vardy - anybody who comes through Stockbridge Park Steels youth is okay in my eyes...best he isn't fussed on a cold wet Tuesday night in Barnsley )
