Planning on doing it but it's the day after Spurs away which would mean a London away game with little/no beer. Tough one!

goto a proper running shop, pay the money for some proper running shoes that are suited to you, money well spent, I used to have dreadful problems with knees, i thought running shops were just for people who were proper runners and not those who just want to keep the pounds off and plod around, best £100 i ever spent and touch wood no problems with knees since, take your old shoes with you, they can tell from your heel what the problem is sometimes

I think this may have been part of the problem, I just ordered some Nike running shoes over weekend which should be with me this week. They look like they will be nice and supportive with a thick sole that gets thicker towards the heel. At £85 they better do the trick!

Watford half yesterday is the hardest half I have done to date. My legs are like lead weight today.

Well done. My brother was in it what time did you come in at? I was at the finishing line so probably clapped you in.

Well done, I intended doing that if I had not gone to spurs, it is one of the toughest half marathons there is and only normal that your legs are like lead, congratulations, by the weekend you will be looking to do another one!

Had 3 half marathons and a marathon lined up but now back at a physio, this time for an achilles injury. So frustrating as I was getting quicker, fitter and really enjoying running. Doing 10+ miles training on a Sunday was becoming second nature.

2h 3m. I've only ever done one half in under 2h so to get 2h 3m on that course I was actually pretty pleased with.

I've got a 20 miles race in a few weeks so I need to get a 14 mile training run in on Sunday - right now 14 yards would be a push!

Went for a run this morning past my local school.

One of the little lads sweetly shouted out ...

"Who do you think you are grandad, f*****g Mo Farrah?

Ha ha, you've got to love the little cherubs. Bless 'em.

2 Hours 3min is a hell of a good time for that course, people don't understand how much difference hills make, I know what goes up must come down, if you did the Brighton half Marathon you would knock 15 mins off of that.

Well done good time for a tough course. I'm thinking of St Albans half in June but at moment am kind of enjoying a break from official races (not including the odd park run) whilst just going out running on my own or socially.

Keep the updates coming. I love how this old thread keeps popping back up.

Ha I was neck and neck with him for the last half a mile or so but then he went for a sprint finish - which sadly I just didn't have in me! Fair play to him though, that can't have been comfortable.

Been doing 3.5k for the last couple of months. Tried to do it once a week but didn't really stick to it. My best time was 16.42 I think. Decided to bite the bullet and do 5k for the first time. 26 mins 3 seconds, relatively happy with that (especially considering the last 0.2 miles is practically vertical: http://bit.ly/1QToapN) and I was aiming for around the 25 min mark. Hopefully can better it next time around.

18 mile run yesterday, in prep for a 20 mile race on Sunday. I enjoy half marathons but training for a 20 miler hasn't been much fun. It'll be my one and only 20 miler then back to half marathons for me.

Wow, rather you than me. I take it you wont be doing much than a little short jog between now and Sunday.

Best of luck, you deserve it!

Thanks. Two relatively short runs in the week, get Sunday out of the way then have a well earned break. My missus is training for Brighton marathon so I've been training with her but after Sunday she is on her own!

Anyone doing the Berko half this weekend? Going to make a last minute decision. Training has been going OK since my injury but the furthest I've run since then is about 8 miles.

I was contemplating it earlier this week, but not sure if I will. I'm training for the London Marathon and did 13.75 miles last weekend so will probably try and up it to 15/16 this weekend. Given that I'm based in London at the moment I don't think I fancy two trips out to Watford and Berkhamsted within the space of 18 hours so will probably just do my long run locally instead.

I didn't realise it was as soon as this otherwise I'd have built it into my overall training. Have been meaning to do it for years.

Just wanted to say a huge congratulations to anyone who took part in the Brighton Marathon today. I know there were a few fellow Watford fans running as I was on the sidelines wearing my Watford hat and a few runners gave me a thumbs up or shouted "Go Hornets" as they went past! I was there supporting my sister ("Hove Hornet") and have to give her a special mention for running it in just under 4 hours and raising over £1,200 for the hospice that looked after our mum in her final days.

I'm running the London Marathon Sunday so can't get to Wembley to watch us but I will be able to have a drink afterwards to hopefully
    celebrate our win!!

Would love to do it one day. I know someone who has (and held the course record). I'm some way off that distance at the moment though!

She was very pleased with her time, especially since it was her first marathon. Best of luck to you on Sunday and, yes, hopefully a double celebration for you by the end of the day!

I've had a few weeks off running after having to push myself quite hard to run a 20 mile race but my feet are beginning to itch. My missus also ran the Brighton marathon which has got me contemplating trying to do one for myself...
