    What an amazing night.

I just logged onto a live stream and catch the build-up and the goal and I just jumped and shouted. P'ed off the missus as I woke up the kids and spilt my beer.

I didn't see any "Doyley speech" did I miss anything?

That goal was so well taken and a true beauty. I can't believe my luck.

Kris, Sir Lloyd was understated as ever in his speech and had a lisp. And then he said he lost his mum 5 months ago and dedicated his goal to her. Top man.

my son returned from scouts to me screaming lloyd has scored ! his reply was 'yeah right' then every time he touched the ball all you could hear was 'SHOOT' from the crowd. he turned to me and said ' did he score really ?'
at the end of the game they showed his goal and young James lept into the air. his smile said it all.

    ARISE SIR LLOYD

Doyley outstanding tonight!!!!!!! If he plays like that I dont have a problem with him.

Good to see DeMerit back. Cowie was outstanding and so was Cleverley.

Eustace also excellent first touch passing and Hodson was a great outlet 1st half.

    Ellington was **** i thought.

"On 7 December 2009, the day came that every Watford fan has been dreaming of, Doyley scored his first senior goal for the hornets against QPR at Vicarage Road. He scored with a diving header after a great lob assist from Don Cowie, netting the equalizer for Watford which they went on to win 3-1. Doyley joined the club aged 11, joining the youth team at 17 and had to wait 10 years before scoring the best goal ever seen at Vicarage Road. Many well respected pundits have since commented that Doyley had almost guarenteed himself a place in Fabio Capello's England squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, as a back up Left Back and supplementary Striker. Doyley was also a 'legend' on Football Manager 2007 for LSTB."

I watched the special moment live on Sky in the union - kicked over the table , broke six glass and two pitchers, and spilt about £15 worth of beer.

I was also the only person in there watching the football!

What a ****ing night, Doyley is a bloody hero.

    Words can't express it.

Another superb performance. The players just show so much effort it's staggering.

Despite having control of the game before they scored we didn't do much and it said a lot that Hodson and Lloyd were our best attacking players.

The equaliser changed the game...right on half time and the fact it was Lloyd who got it. I'm still in shock but what a celebration :]]. From that moment the crowd came to life and once we got the second it was clear the players would do anything to make sure we won it.

Saw the interview at the end and it was quite moving when he said he was dedicating it to his mum

Best win of the season so far and the team will struggle to beat that. Doyley scoring was just unbelievable. The whole team was just fantastic as well though. Our passing, movement, team-work, awareness, and skill were just all fantastic. We started the game well but unfortunately they got a goal, thankfully we came back and didn't let our heads drop. We showed great determination to get back into the game with the best ever goal, Doyley's goal of course. From then on we continued to press well and after some good work by Cleverley he was able to set up Cowie for a great finish, obviously Doyley will get all the praise tonight but Cowie's goal was fantastic. At 2-1 up QPR came back at us but despite the pressure we never let them have any real clear cut chances and were able to hit them on the break effectively. Right near the end Graham then showed a fantastic first touch to bring the ball down and play a lovely pass to Cleverley to slot home one-on-one.

Loach- 7 Dealt with most things well and his distribution was very good. Didn't have to deal with a great deal but when called upon he did well.

Hodson- 7.5 Attacked supremely well, put in some lovely crosses and passed the ball well. Defensively he also did very well, defended well in one-on-one situations and he put in a very good performance like most others.

Mariappa- 7.5 Defended well and put in some very strong challenges including one goal saving tackle early on in the second half. His passing wasn't great but his defensive side overrides that.

Cathcart- 5.5 I think he needs to toughen up a bit. He just seems a bit delicate to me, he shows a lack of aggression when clearing the ball and he also lost his man for QPR's goal.

Doyley- 10 MOTM The best goal ever surely. Putting his aside for just a moment his overall performance was actually sublime. He defended superbly, passed the ball quite well, attacked well, but I think the way he dealt Routledge was brilliant. He knew he had pace and stood off him at the right distance so that Routledge couldn't skip past him, he tackled at the right times and put in the blocks when needed.

Cowie- 8.5 Fantastic performance, his goal was just superb. He passed the ball very well, set up Doyley's goal, and defended strongly. He put in tackles, worked very hard, and ran all day.

Cleverley- 8.5 Played in the centre of midfield and completely ran the show. He ran with the ball well, passed very well, crossed well and scored with a nice finish. His work-rate was also very good as usual. Also got a nice assist for Cowie.

Eustace- 8 His passing was great, he tackled well, provided a shield for the defence and put in some goal saving tackles and headers. He looks so much better this season, playing with these types of players and playing in this style seems to be making him flourish, Malky certainly has got the best out of him.

Harley- 7.5 Very good, he passed well, worked very hard, won tackles, supported Doyley when defending and he also put in some very nice crosses. He like Eustace seems to have improved under Malky and although I have given him a little bit of criticism in the past, I now see him as part of the squad and am happy to see him in the first team.

Graham- 7 Worked very hard as usual. Hopefully he bag another goal soon because his play deserves it, he got another assist with that lovely touch and pass for Cleverley's goal. His first touch is just brilliant and his movement is good, he should get another goal soon if he keeps the level of performance he is putting in.

Ellington- 6 This was his big chance and unfortunately he didn't take it. His first touch looked loose and he couldn't quite make a big an impact as I would have hoped. He worked quite hard and put in a few nice crosses but just didn't have strong enough impact.

    Subs:

DeMerit- 6.5 Started off a little shaky with a mistake early on but got into the game more and although he made a couple of little mistakes he looked pretty good. He will get better obviously so it's good see him back.

Henderson- 7 Did quite well, held up the ball well and did a couple of nice lay-offs. He worked hard, put in some crunching tackles and he did cause a problem for the defence, he seems to be very awkward to play against as he won a ton of free kicks off the defenders.

Severin- 6 Not really enough time to make an impact but did alright.

Just got back and f**king hell what a match.

Rookery went bloody mad when Lloyd scored and was super happy that I was there to see it and what a fine goal it was.

Thought we would f**k it up when Henderson came on but fair play to him didn't have a bad 30mins or whatever it was.

My throat hurts too much, brilliant support and was funny to laugh at the QPR fans singing "Can you hear the Watford sing" every 15 minutes even though they sang for about 15 mins all match.

Also heard a verse of "Chewitt give us a song" ...? :]]

All in all brilliant match. Would we of won it if they started Simpson, Buzaky and tarrabt? Possibly but that is their mistake and a good performance from us.

"We were there when Doyley scored"

What a first game for Fitz at the Vic to pick to come and see.

Lloyd scoring is one of my favourite moments as a Watford fan. I would have loved to have been there, but getting bemused looks of Welsh pub locals wasn't bad either! I phuqqing love football at moments like this. That goal is one of the most beautiful things I have EVER seen. Well done Lloyd, you are a legend. 10/10 man of the match performance fully deserved as well.

Probably one of the best games that I have seen at The Vic, just one of those moments that you had to be there, seeing Doyley scoring, as he has said in his pre-match interview, he has been getting closer in the last few games. I was worried once that we had gone 1-0 down that we could concede a couple of goals. Then I later on realised that Jim Magilton had made a mistake by trying to rotate his team too much, he was mad to keep Buszaky, Taarabt and Simpson on the bench, and to be honest, even when they came on, apart from one shot, they all looked very average. A great team effort tonight, when you compare with what we have to QPR, we should be proud to be a Watford fan, as I think we have a group of players that are young, commited and not afraid to give it a go, and tonight it paid off.

    Ratings

Loach- 7 Had a good game on the whole, seemed to catch most balls in the box, one hairy moment where Cathcart cocked up a backpass.

Hodson- 8 For a player of 18, he is competent, and excellent on the ball. He delivers excellent crosses, only disadvantage is he can lose out to some faster or taller players, which all managers seem to be playing that tactic against us at the moment.

Mariappa- 7 Solid performance, he is a good captain, he made a goal saving tackle, and was unlucky with his chance from a corner.

Cathcart- 5 He dips in and out of form, its a shame because he had a few good points in the game, but more bad ones, and once again played a precariously short backpass.

Doyley- 11 MOTM The man is a legend, the goal wasn't just a tap in or a bundle ober the line, a diving header into the roof of the net was simply perfection. His defending was also excellent, commited and made some brilliant tackles, he has just re-inforced his status as a Watford legend.

Cowie- 8 Excellent performance, great finish for the goal, and was more in the game than he has been recently. He also provided the cross for the goal of the decade by Doyley.

Cleverley- 8 Again an excellent performance, good passing, glad we have got him until the end of the season, the run and finish for the goal was also first class.

Eustace- 7.5 He is a calming influence in midfield, seems to have lost the mentality where he has to get himself booked every game, great distribution and other touches around the field.

Harley- 7 Good performance, for me he always seems to play better when we are on TV. Some nice passing and made good runs down the wing.

Graham- 7 Worked hard, was unlucky not to get the chance to convert a rebound after a fine save from Cerny, also excellent at passing and holding up the ball.

Ellington- 6 He was average today, the only reason that I have given him a 6 was because of the header that Cerny produced a fine save from. He seems to be a little bit off the pace, maybe more games will do him good.

    Subs:

DeMerit- 6.5 Good to see him back, made some good tackles, hope to see him getting more game time soon.

Henderson- 6.5 Put in an overall good performance tonight, he held the ball up nicely, won a few free kicks for us when the defenders started to become frustrated. Again he needs a longer period of playing time like tonight to become a better player, rather than just reserve football.

Severin- 6 Not really enough time to make an impact.

Last 10 mins or so QPR were going for it and I was waiting for them to score, earlier in the season we would have let a goal in as they were piling on the pressure.

Only way we could have had a better night at 3-1 would have been the 3rd goal coming earlier we could have relaxed a little, still thats us don't do things easily.

    Well done Watford!
