Can't believe it. I was all set to go, but ended up getting stuck at work until about 8ish and only just made it home to see Doyley score on TV.

We were excellent all over the park. Passing was incisive and controlled, we kept the ball very well and created plenty of opportunities. Eustace was excellent and looks a totally different player now. Cleverly is unbelievable. Absolutely ran the show. Cowie was also excellent. Hodson looks like a really class player in the making, performing well beyond what you'd expect of an 18 year old.

I'm starting to really like this Watford team.

I have another thing to bring up - the referee. Seemed top class to me. Maybe got the Stewart red card decision wrong but that was really down to the lino and to be fair he played some good advantages throughout the game. Got the vast majority of decisions spot on on a tricky surface to call fouls on.

Agreed. Not sure there was any intent in that tackle, strictly speaking should have been red but I think it was a good natured game on the whole and he used discretion?

Can we have him for all our matches?

I have to disagree. i felt he let Stewart and Hall get away with too much. I did like however that when there was a foul, he would let us try and play on, and if we lost the ball he would give us a freekick.

His run into the box shows real intelligence - look at how he stays onside and keeps his eye on the ball all the way through. Also a good bit that he actually kicked off the move by passing to Harley and running into position...

HH yes but expected. And we showed Monday we can cope.

Loach - not really. I feel Lee is as good and with the cash Loach can generate selling him is the obvious thing to do.

Demerit - has to go. If anyone ever had to be sold it's Jay. Not that I dislike him or anything but he is into his last 6 months and can sign for anyone for free after the world cup. Also he is on high wages. Jay MUST be sold or we'll get fark all. I'd rater play with Cathcart/Bennett/Oshodi/Severin alongside Mariappa than keep Jay.

We'll still be fine without those 3. I worry more above 221209 than 010110.

Out of those, we'd only miss HH and he's not our player anyway.

For me, the key players in our side are Graham, Cleverly, Lansbury and Cowie. That's not to diminish the contribution of Hodson, Eustace or Doyley, but I think the first 4 are the only ones we really can't replace.

If Lansbury and Cleverly are on loan to the end of the seaon, we can get a striker on loan to support Graham/Henderson, Lee goes back in sticks and we play Bennet or Oshodi (neither can be more error prone than Dustcart) we'll be safe this season.

Our squad is thin, but it's enough to get us to safety.

I think we can survive without Jay, have been doing so for the last few weeks but we will need a squad filler replacement to cover injury.

HH He's scored a couple of goals, would be brilliant to keep him but again we coped whilst he was out.

Loach is the only worry. Lee is a better keeper than a lot of people give him credit for but he is not up to Loach's quality and that has been the difference maker. It's likely that it will be a loan back deal so immediate concerns are solved but we will need to replace.

Just got back from the match. What a ******* great night, so pleased with Lloydinho for breaking his duck. Mad scenes in the Lower Rous when that went in.

On another note, I wish people would lay off of Cathcart, he may have been at fault for their goal, but give it a few years and that guy will be the first defender on the teamsheet in the Premier League. You heard it here first.

Yeah but could you imagine if we ever got some decent owners. Got in some class players from all over the world, established ourselves in the premier league and redeveloped Vic road into a first class stadium. Yeah I know.. Dream on!

    Where can I get some?

Back to reality, really happy for Lloyd if only he knew how to celebrate a goal :)
If only we could afford to buy players like Cleverley instead of begging top clubs for loanees.
And will Cathcart ever make it - he's got potential but he could be injury prone.
Malky' s got us playing some good football and we should be safe this season at least - but who's the next player we have to sell to balance the books?

I can see Sordell going. We’ll probably replace him with someone from the third tier, God knows what he’ll be like.

Not sure we can afford him. He’s scored a few. Maybe Jimmy will have to speak to uncle Elton!
