Everton interested now, so we may have missed out on yet another good value home grown player after Gray and Austin moved for what is, in this market, peanuts.....
Hypothetically not good enough. Never played in any top league so therefore it's unprovable whether he'd be good enough. Why take the risk?
We already have one development striker that we just purchased. Some people are already questioning that signing. Not sure why Clough would get any more time than Oulare.
A player whose potential talent is far greater than his price. We are said to be looking for underpriced British talent, and at such a low transfer fee the risk is minimal. So I actually agree with the OP that it is a bit of a missed opportunity. Gray too.
The trouble with all of this is that we will never know if the club bid for the player or not or if they ever actually had a chance of signing them or not. Despite what some seem to believe it's not just a case of outgunning everyone on the financial front.
Why take the risk? lol For 2-3 mill it would be silly not to take the risk. Gray hadn't played top flight football and he's not looked bad. Some of our fans are so deluded
Exactly - at this point in time there wouldn't be many players picking us ahead of Everton or even Southampton, even if we did try and sign them and offer a similar package.
Well, I can't speak to what he looked like, but: http://www.bwfc.co.uk/team/player-profile/zach-clough/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Clough http://www.transfermarkt.com/zach-clough/profil/spieler/246351 http://www.espnfc.us/player/191564/zach-clough It's pretty well documented, including on the Bolton website. He might also be capable of playing in midfield (haven't seen enough of him, to be quite honest) but it's clear he's considered a natural striker by everyone, including his current club.
I like him as a player think he would do well in the prem with a half decent side . I would be happy for us to sign him .
Eagerly awaiting the 'People who don't have a clue about ZC' thread, in which someone or other loses their rag and accuses everyone else of being bum bandits
Surely you could say that about any young player though? Unless they were already playing in the prem/other top leagues and would cost a fortune
