...and they havn't paid the players yet (for May). Maybe this is because a Winding Up Order means that bank accounts get frozen. But I think this is the 3rd WUP in the last few months from a supplier.

Number 100 on the following list.

    http://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/court-lists/list-companies-winding-up

It can't be good and is definitely embarrassing!

The reason their players didn't get paid is because it is a bank holiday in Kuwait today. This means the payment is delayed by a day. Apparently anyway

Really wouldn't surprise me to see them go into administration in the near future.

The Bank Holiday was on the 27th May. Hardly relevant is it anyway? Does a Bank Holiday stop a bank transfer?

I wonder if this is why Pearce has still not been confirmed as manager ?

The Nottingham Post sports reporter, Paul Taylor, has tweeted that it is the HMRC that have issued the Winding Up Order. That's a strange one as they are making a £12m to £17m loss each season so I wouldn't have thought it is due to unpaid tax!

They'd still have Income tax, NICs and VAT to pay at the very least, though...

Yes, of course, you are right.

I really think they are in some sort of trouble. Stuart Pearce is "apparently" muttering about lack of info re budgets, etc, and may walk.

If one business (Kuwaiti Co) make a cash gift to another business (NF Co) how would that sit with the inland revenue?

That's ok I thnk, so long as correctly documented. Would not help their FFP liabilities though.

Could be PAYE. That's what Pompey got in trouble for. Employer's PAYE liabilities are huge for football clubs, and I think you can pay it quarterly, so if you go off and use that money for something else...............

I think its a real shame when a club goes under due to poor management. Every club has a lot of history especially Nottingham Forest and its a shame when that gets thrown out the window due to bad financial management by people who have only a temporary affiliation with the club.

Its the fans who suffer and ultimately pay for it. If it wasnt for the Pozzos I expect we would be in a similar or worse situation with Bassini.

Not really the same though. Bassini was selling Sordell and Mariappa and buying budget players, whereas the Forest owners were throwing millions at players. At the end of the day, despite FFP looming they effectively tried to "cheat" last season, but having no consideration for the rules. It's like QPR who when faced with impending armageddon, doubled up the risk by signing Benayoun, Doyle, Maigo (sp) and Ravel Morrision, all on premier league terms no doubt.

I have no sympathy for Forest whatsoever if they now end up in financial strife.

This is pretty funny. The rumblings at Forest carry on.

The latest is that players are upset about not receiving their bonuses from last season. This is countered by some who say that recent Nottingham Evening Post pictures show "happy, smiling players" - therefore there are no unhappy players. Then this fella called Boszi comes on and says that the Posts's images were photoshopped to show smiling players. He then goes on to demonstrate using this ELA software that apparently shows where images have been altered.

    http://www.forest.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=28370&start=101

The examples he gave are quite impressive, I think we could use this ELA software on our "Lurking Baz" thread as I have suspicions that some of those images are in fact, not genuine!

According to this thread on a Forest forum, they are about to announce a mega shirt and ground sponsorship deal with the Kuwait government. The initial article is in Arabic but will be announced in a "quality British paper"!
