Muff could start that game in 4th place playing catch up. In that position everyone needs a chunk of mental strength to be able to cope with the pressure. They've not been there before and it seems their players, supporters and manager have already cracked. They won't win on Monday; they've blown it.

Nobody said we we would, just that we could. Surely worth a mention.

Im not sure if I want Brighton to feel they need to win or not.

Some teams play better when the pressures off and are not scared of throwing players forward.

Some play better when the pressure is on and raise their game.

If we wobble and lose at Brighton but beat Wednesday
If Boro beat fulham but scrape a draw at home to Brighton
If muff beat bolton but only get a draw at charlton
If Norwich beat Rotherham and fulham

All 4 teams would end up with 88 points

Team at foot of table. It's pretty much a misconception that a team in a relegation battle suddenly become a bigger threat. Sure occasionally you get one that gets some resutls (see Leicester) but mostly they are still poor teams, the table doesn't lie. We've pretty much beaten all the teams at the bottom so should look to continue that at Brighton. Mid-table teams are bigger threats simply because they are better teams irrespective of maybe having their towels already on the beach.

We've shown absolutely no signs of nerves so far and I don't see it starting now. The table doesn't lie - we are the best team in this league so we just carry on doing what we've been doing and we're there. I'm not expecting either Brighton or Wednesday to suddenly find winning form at this end of the season!

Yeah, but then I'd have had to say that and I wanted my post to be short and punchy, so I went for the loss thing!:)

Part of that was down to Muff being crap and way off their game. Muff's last three performances have been poor. Away from the Wendies game, they went two behind v Brum before coming back into the game with a complete gift. Dean Court was absolutely silent until Brum conceded the first.

It could have been 0-3 down but Brum missed a complete sitter. After the gift of the goal they suddenly had a lifeline and came back; before that, they appeared dead and buried and Brum were all over them.

They're bottling it and are not putting out the same sort of performance they were earlier in the season. It's also worth bearing in mind their first 11 is probably exhausted due to the number of fixtures they've been involved in without rotation.

Norwich and Boro appear to be handling the pressure better, Boro moreso than Norwich. That counts for a lot when it's this tight.

I reckon it'll be Boro and us when the dust settles.

We've got the experience behind us of bottling it - so don't give up hope yet!

Westwood suffered a calf strain pre-match, and they lost Hutchinson to a torn hamstring and their CB Zayatte owing to something or other during the game. Add to that McGugan missing out with a virus and Wednesday hardly had their best side out. Kieran Lee and Maguire are too very good players for this division, but even given that we should beat them, it's just the pressure involved if we need to win.

Cannot look beyond our next game apart from considering the amusing possibility of us securing promotion by others failing and with no media focus on us as we (the team, the coaches, the owners and the fans) are all tucked up at home watching it all pan out before us on tv. Actually, that would be par for the course this year; under the radar and whilst everyone else looks the other way, we walk off into the summer laughing all the way to the Prem.

  16. Bournemouth are officially in meltdown - they're talking about birdwatching and birds..... (and yes the type that say 'cheap' (not that their team is)...with wings and feathers!)

Reckon Boro are going to go past Muff now. Same points total, playing better, in better spirits and more importantly have better remaining fixtures. Only question mark over Boro is the injury status of Vossen/Bamford.

Muff @ Charlton on the last day could well be a horror show. Charlton are no mugs and are in good form.

My friend, nobody is in meltdown other than you. What is your obsession with the Bournemouth boards? Let them talk about what they want....it's allowed and is all good.

  20. Jeezus Philipinne I thought you and I had sorted this out why do you insist on us falling out AGAIN!...I don't want to argue with a fellow horn!!!

Looking at that, Ipswich might struggle to make the playoffs with their fixtures. Brentford for 6th? Even Derby in their current form should make it. With Bent & Ince in their team I'd not rule them out. Wouldn't fancy them in the p/o if the worst happened.

  23. Yes, thanks for that....!!!

Brentford in the semi and Derby in the final would probably be the best we could hope for. We won't need them though.

  25. Believe me their obsession with us is far more... If you actually checked...

I actually think Bournemouth will lose to Bolton on Monday. Not because their manager, team and fans are cracking but simply because Lennon is no mug and wants to make an impact somehow on the title challenge, he said it himself. He will set up to frustrate Bournemouth and they have to win. Providing the ref has another good game like the ref against Wednesday had, then al I see is a Bolton team taking points. I think the two teams to go up this year are us and Boro. Play off winners will be Norwich.

All we need to be concentrating on right now though, is getting the 3 points on Saturday and I do hope Boro and Norwich lose, so we can play Wednesday with promotion already sealed.

As has been said, it's 'cheep'. Well sometimes. Get a grip eh? At least I Blame Basset and I make some sort of attempt to discuss this sort of thing in private on here. So I agree it's a bit weird if the B'Muff forums are now turning into some sort of twitchers' convention. But even more worrying is you observing them, incognito, in your camouflage gear, from a hide with a pair of binoculars. Blokes have been arrested for less.

Imho, the best ornithological pointer towards a victory on Saturday would be for someone to spot a gull (not Seagull mind - yuk) being sick in a bag of chips. It'll probably be a Herring Gull.

B.t.w. I B Bassett. Did you get my latest attempt at an IM?

No. That's technically CHEP ... Your task is to spot a gull throwing up in a paper bag.
