Taken from BBC Football: "Watford are set to sign Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson from Rotherham United for a combined fee of £1.2m, reports BBC Radio Sheffield. The two players are expected to put the finishing touches to their deals at Vicarage Road on Friday. Hoskins, a 20-year-old striker, has already scored 16 goals for the Millers this season. Midfielder Williamson, 24, made over 50 appearances for Rotherham and has found the net six times this season."
6 goals for a midfielder in 50 outings is a good record... if it were 6 goals out of 50 and he was a striker your comment would have made sense!
Williamson has played for them 50 times and scored 6 THIS season. I am sure he hasn't played 50 times in a season.
his goal on youtube looked good, he was running down the right, faked a cross with his right, cut inside got past tewo the sccored frooom the edge of thebox withhhis left. cretive, both footed, quick and cheap!
Yep. He has scored 6 times in 19 games this season and scored 4 times in 37 games for them last season. So he's not necessarily a goal-scoring midfielder then, but hopefully he is a decent passer of the ball and he has looked quite quick in the youtube vids.
6 in 19 from the middle is very good. 4 in 37 isn't. My worry for is that he's 24. How many players improves from league 1 to PrL level. Seems a stretch to me but I am anxcious he can do.
Three of the 6 have been penalties. He has just returned from injury - been out 5 weeks - hope he passes the medical
Yes if he's the finished article - if he still needs to develop quite a bit (which league 1 to PrL is) then I think it is a tad too old. But we'll see. Millerman certainly rates him.
lee williamson is an all action midfield man with very quick feet, a very good engine and this season has had an eye for goals, his injury was a broken toe. last season we had steven quinn on loan from sheff u and williamson looked a much better footballer so he may be ready for the prem but it is a big step up. as for hoskins he as only really played this season but nearly all his goals have been good ones, he is not a poacher and is rarely seen in the 6 yard box, he is prone to sulking and is certainly confident even big headed, is he ready to step up to the prem/ probably not but he has potential and your coaching staff may improve him to that level, i am sure all at millmoor would say thanks to the pair and good luck at watford btw any spare centre halves or goalkeepers.
More detailed information on how the deal has been made up: (From Millermad - which is a damm sight better than Watford Mad!) 850k up front.. 150k on August 1st 100k when they both make 15 appearances ..can be from subs bench... 100k if Watford go down and then come back into Prem whilst either of then are still at Watford... 15% sell on clause on anything above what Watford sell then on for...great in Williamson's case at 250k...not so good on Hoskins...
