What would constitute a brilliantly researched preview that sees us going down? Is it impossible?

  2. In essence, the argument is they were relegated because their manager(s) that season were rubbish. And a bloke who previously managed in Scotland, who's had a half decent 6 months, will do better than them. Significantly better.

Yeah, but I haven't see one yet. I think if you've done your research you'd back us to stay up. Of course we could go down, but it's more likely we won't, imo.

  5. I think you can make a perfectly well researched piece arguing that there's (a) a possibility we've brought in too many players because (2) we're playing a different formation and (3) it's a formation that doesn't really play to the strength of our best striker and (4) in preseason there appears to have been issues getting support up to him, which could restrict our scoring opportunities.

What a brilliant piece of journalism, finally someone has done their research.

Appallingly written and researched, revolting piece of journalism. Don't these journos know anything?!

When you make a decision, such as where you think each team will be placed this is usually based on a gut feeling (somatic markers etc - call them what you want)
To most pundits we are a little team who have failed miserably in our last two seasons in the premiership
Norwich are a bigger team and have more of a premiership pedigree (lets forget they went down)

Opinions are based on this gut feeling, reasons then follow, hence the weak arguments about too many new players etc - its just pundits trying to give a logical reason to their gut feeling.

  13. I see this claimed a lot by Narj fans, but actually if we'd started the league with Joka in charge I honestly believe we would have won the league

Well we were top 6 at least anyway - even to 2 when Bepe left?

  16. Interesting theory but I think the word you're looking for is hermaphrodite

  17. No, that would be if she had both sets

  18. If she didn't have both sets she'd never have been your aunt in the first place therefore your sentence would never have made sense

  19. I honestly believe that if my Aunt had a different set of genitalia, she'd be my Uncle.

    No she wouldn't

He'd be your uncle ... or ....she would be a hermaphrodite

....anyway. Just to mix things up Andy Gray (remember him?) thinks Norwich are most likely out of the three of us to stay up as they have done great business with transfers. Must mean the sort you stick on your arms when you're a kid I guess.

Must have been chatting to his old mate Richard Keys as he thinks the same! Got us at 19th, Bournemouth at 20th - Norwich to survive (17th).

Without doubt the most predictable thing I've heard today, if not this week...

Robbie Savage says we will be relegated.

Really looking forward to when we stay up comfortably and all these pundits and journos say they'd fancied us to stay up all along!

Of the current 20 PL managers, only one has ever suffered a relegation in this country.

I know we've strengthend but everyone has too. The only clubs staying still that you would expect to be near to relegation are Sunderland and Norwich.

I look forward to this thread being flagged up at the end of the season, hopefully for all the right reasons rather than us all being completely wrong.

It really seems like this year every single club has strengthened over the close season. You can make an argument for the likes of Villa losing their best two players but they've invested very wisely too and I expect them to be better.

Whilst we have considerably strengthened it hasn't pulled us away in relation to other teams in the bottom half. In reality it's just made us more competitive. You look at last season and Burnley signed some very average Championship players like Sordell and Jutkiewicz (had to google that spelling). This season every club seems to be getting in real quality.

Can't remember a season where it's been so difficult to predict. That's also why I'm not going to get my hopes up in terms of staying up. We've got a fantastic squad, but I think the quality of the teams at the bottom are higher than they've ever been.

I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive about the qualities of Bournemouth and Norwich too. The Eddie Howe factor is real (as much as it pains me to say it) and they do have some fantastic players. As for Norwich, there's no doubt Alex Neil has really got them playing and it would not surprise me at all if they stayed up. Just wish it was Burnley and QPR coming up with us instead.

With an undoubted hint of bias I'm going to plump for a 16th placed finish, but fighting until the very end. It ain't gonna be easy.
