For what it's worth - I prefer this kit to the ones our seniors are wearing.

Nice one Burnsie, thanks for posting.

Let's not let an honest mistake take this thread off track please.

A 2-0 win for the girls today at a bl**dy freezing cold Garston. It was one of those games where they didn't have their shooting boots on and lots of chances went wide, where last week they all went in. Another clean sheet makes it 3 in a row. We're now right up with the top 2 with a game in hand on 2nd.

Next week should be interesting with a home cup game against first division opposition. If all the girls are playing then we'll get a new team photo done.

This is probably the stupidest question ever posted here but is your team affiliated to WFC? I'm presuming yes else they would kick up about your badge. But if it is all part and parcel of the Watford heirachy shouldn't they be the ones funding your kit?

Yes we're affiliated, but the Ladies have their own finances for kit and equipment which comes from player subs, our summer tournament and various other places. All teams get a new kit every other year, and this is one of those in between years. Because we formed in the summer from several teams, (one from Watford ladies), we had kit from all over the place, some of which was ridiculously big or small. Getting sponsorship allowed us to get new kit a year early and with the forum logo on the front.

Yes I read your first post I understood the reasons why you were wanting a new kit I just don't understand why the Club don't foot the bill....or are you saying that the Club do but you would have to wait a year? That makes sense. Said it was a stupid question :)

As Meister said, lets not allow an error to overshadow the fact that the team now have their shiny new WFCForums kit.

Good stuff SM for putting the money up, and good to have Ex-Admin back even if it is only temporarily.

The girls were playing near to where my son was training so saw quite a bit of the game. Firstly the kit with logo looked very smart and secondly did the Watford goalkeeper actually touch the ball?

Our keeper picked up the ball twice and had 2 goal kicks. Garston asked us to play the uncontested goalkicks which U11's and below play, and because we won by such a large margin last week we agreed to play it. What a mistake! All it did was level the playing field for the weaker team and wrecked our usual style of play.

UHORNS, were you behind where the coaches were? Looked like U7s. I noticed a few people watching from that side. You should have come over and said hello.

When there's a goal kick after the ball has gone out of play, the opposition have to retreat to the halfway line before the keeper resumes play. This really works well with the younger kids. From U12's the offside rule comes into force and the uncontested goal kicks aren't used.

It's something new that's been brought in for the younger kids to encourage playing out from the back and to stop immediate pressure from the opposition when the younger keepers have trouble kicking the ball our very far. My Son's under 8 team started playing the rule last season. As he's a keeper I can see the positives, and his team play a passing game right from the back where before the easy option was to hoof it past the waiting forwards.

Most of our girls played U12 football last season despite being U11's, so this was totally alien to them and it showed.

I assume as soon as the keeper kicks the ball the opposition can come forward again? It sounds like a good idea.

Strange you ask that as I was ref for an under 8's game yesterday and wasn't 100% sure if it was from the moment the keeper kicked the ball or the moment the first outfield player touched the ball. At the ladies match on Saturday the ref played it as the moment an outfield player touched the ball then the opposition could come forward, but every under 8 match I've seen this season it was the moment the keeper kicked the ball. Some sites I looked at last week said it was the moment the ball leaves the penalty area.

Either way, it's a great idea when the kids are learning the game and encourages them to play from the back.

That would be great. I'll introduce you to the team who I'm sure will want to say thanks for sponsoring them, and if we have a new team photo done after the match then we can get one our sponsor in as well.

Went along today, they won 3-2 in the cup against a team from the league above and looked more than capable of competing with teams of that level.

Thanks for coming down Alex, much appreciated and it was a good chance for the team to say a big thank you for sponsoring them. Strange that we both said we had concerns about the Watford v Yeovil game.

As for the match, well it was a tight finish but we had enough chances to be comfortably ahead before letting Bury back into the game at the end. The quarter finals will see us up against a team who are currently 4th in the top division, date to be announced.

Next weekend we're home again to Kings Langley who beat us 3-0 at their place earlier in the season. It'll be a good chance to see how far we've come so far this season.

Under 14s lost to the Scum (Is it politically correct to call under 14 ladies that?). Not good enough

Bad Hornmeister! We've played teams from over that way and the managers/coaches/parents who've obviously been luton fans have always been up for a bit of a laugh about the rivalry. The nasty side of the rivalry doesn't come in to it at all, quite the opposite. There was one chap who was running the line for the opposition at our place and didn't remove his coat until halfway through the 2nd half, to reveal a luton shirt. The girls were winding him up rotten but he took it in good humour.

Today was an important game for the team as we lost the away fixture to this team 3-0 earlier in the season. The girls were outstanding today and they won 3-0 playing some cracking football. Eight games unbeaten and a 100% win record in the WFCForums sponsored shirts. Onwards and upwards.

:sign15: SM#16, what are the chances of a shirt sponsorship deal for the full team next year? I'm sure we can offer more than certain electrical manufacturers.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter. Popular with female footballers? Just wondering.

Only just seen this thread as not a regular on here anymore. Took me a while to clock the user name connection! Good to hear from you again Admin!

Well done SM#16 for sponsoring the team as well. Very generous.

We had a long break over Christmas due to a free week on December 14th, and last weeks game was postponed due to a Waterlogged pitch in St. Albans, so the girls have been without a game for over a month. Last weeks training session we did a lot of fitness work to get them back in shape, and this week we upped the training to 90 minutes from the usual hour to give us time to practice more on match specific drills such as corners.

This weekends match is home to Welwyn, kick off 10.30am at Sun Postal. However, due to already wet pitches and the rain coming tomorrow and Saturday it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's called off.

(PS, anyone who knows me can see me clearly in the background pic on the Watford FC twitter page)

I think the first home league game of the season because the 1881 boys were giving out flags so there were lots about, and it was warm enough to wear that top, so Bournemouth home is my guess.

Our game tomorrow away to Bedwell Rangers is postponed due to Stevenage Borough Council closing all of their pitches for the weekend. What odds of next weeks home game against Welwyn being played with snow forecast??

    Guess what?

Another postponement! Our home match with Bishops Stortford also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Sun Postal. Almost 2 months since our last match!
