Sundays sees the return of the big guns at Vicarage Road, after a week away in Sunderland. History: Sunday marks the 32nd meeting of the 2 teams where the spoils have been divided out as follows: Watford wins - 26 Draws - 4 Liverpool wins - 2 You're all well versed in the history of Watford, so i'll give you the rundown of the history of Liverpool. The club were formed in 1898 after an argument broke out between 2 dock workers at Everton FC (so Liverpool were formed later), they were a yo-yo club for the next 60 years until they finally managed to stay in Division 1. 20 years of mid-table mediocrity beckoned until they managed to steal our star player in John Barnes. However he never found the form that won him so many plaudits at Watford and couldn't help break Liverpools duck of being trophyless since they were formed, the only club in Britain to have never won a trophy in their history. Season so far: Liverpool: So far this season have been punching well above their weight and find themselves in an impressive 9th position so all credit to Klapp for re-building their side after he sold the star players in the summer. Watford: The minimum requirement of a CL place is still easily achievable, with the Golden Boys being just 4 points off 4th place at the present, and QSF and the boys should fancy themselves here. Recent form As you can see Liverpool have been disappointing as of late, with just 2 points from their last 3 games. Watford on the other hand have been free flowing, with just 2 defeats in their last 7 Predicted Lineups: Liverpool: Watford: Dangermen: Watford: Ighalo - Lethal form as of late, scoring in all of Watfords last 3 games. Liverpool: Suarez - The Argentinian maestro has scored 13 goals so far this season and got 3 assists to his name.
We really should be beating these. Overachieved this year and while this will be their cup final, they don't have enough quality to hurt us.
I feel like this preview has been sent to our universe from a very similar, but entirely distinct parallel universe. I have never gone into a Watford match being absolutely 100% sure it would end in a draw before, but I do before this one. We are in too good form to lose this game, but winning it also seems unthinkable. I'll go for 7-7: Ighalo with 4, Deeney 2, Abdi 1, Liverpool getting 2 goals from Coutinho before 5 late Deeney OGs.
I really can't be ar$ed with this one - I tried to give my ticket away twice before someone eventually took it off my hands. Our last easy game before the nightmare Xmas fixtures start and a perfect opportunity to rotate the squad and maybe bring Behrami back for a jog around. I know he's still nowhere near 100% fit, but it'll be good for him to get eased back in. This could be any score, but I'll go for a routine 3-0 win. Oularé debut hatrick.
I'd warn against complacency. Although Liverpool are struggling at the moment, there are still one or two half-decent players there and I doubt we'll have it all our own way. It's games like this, against the likes of Liverpool, that we really have to be winning if we want to be seen as serious challengers for a European spot.
Need to guard against complacency. This has been a topsy turvy season and plucky teams like Liverpool have had some decent performances against those in European contention like us. They will still be looking over their shoulders at the relegation battle and will be fighting hard not to be sucked into it. 5-0 to the horns and a tough day for Gerard Houllier and his players.
Who'd have thought teams like Liverpool, palace and Leicester would be above Chelsea at this stage of the season? Don't take them lightly. They have upset a few already this season and although our quality should tell, if we're complacent, they could nick a draw. I've watched them a couple of times and they make it difficult for the footballing sides. They will look to soak up pressure, time waste, break up play and hit long balls to kuyte and coutinho, hoping to get something from a dead ball. They're not pretty, or skilful, but they're hard to break down. Rodgers has got them playing as a unit and although I think they are punching above their weight, they're not gonna make it easy. I would take a scrappy 1-0 as we always seem to draw against teams like this. Our players aren't used to the rugby style of football that teams like Liverpool employ Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Cortinio is about their only player. Apparently we're one of three clubs interested in him in January. Stoke and west Brom are the others, so I'm guessing he'll come here.
Hopefully we get absolutely battered, put us back in our place and will be a lesson about complacentey. Watford 0-5 Everton
Can somebody present a graph on how tinpot Liverpool now are? This is exactly the kind of game we lose these days: Plucky lower table teams with a point to prove. We just need to guard against complacency, and make sure, for all their huff and puff, that we don't give something silly away. I just don't hope we don't throw any silly points away before we play the big and exciting teams over the Christmas period.
Will they go hand in hand to the fans after the game when we nick a point or 3 off them.. Liverpool do seem to be much better away from home.
C'mon guys you're being a bit unfair. The PL need smaller clubs like theirs to shake up the status quo from time to time. Ok they've been a bit over-enthusiastic (I think it was their players that swapped shirts at half-time and again at full-time against Villa) but did you see how they celebrated their fantastic draw at their place against West Brom last week? Ok it was a bit cringeworhy but that was a great result given where they've come from and they deserve their 15 mins of fame. I for one will clap them off the pitch and I'm sure they'll be invited into the Watford dressing room after the game to get a few autographs. Good luck AFC Hartlepool!
Exactly, at least they'll feel at home coming out to Z-Cars over the sound system, should hopefully settle their nerves (not too much hopefully LOL!)
I'd completely forgotten that we share the same 'running on' music. Who used it first? Can't afford to drop silly points like we did against Bournemouth. Anyone can beat anyone in this league, so I hope QSF doesn't tinker too much with Tottenham and Chelsea coming up.
Well as I see it, we are due to spank some one in the league, may as well be these lot. The stars must all align soon. Think Jurado will stay in, but makes you wonder what Gueds has too do to get a game. Anyways, 4-1 to the yellowmen.
Stick Capoue on Cortinyo and their creativity is dead, they may bring on Firminyo later on but he's got a **** haircut. Gerrard and Carragher are well past it, imagine they'll move onto punditry/MLS next season. I expect Deeney and Ighalo to be a real handful for the aforementioned Carragher and Hypia. Their only hope of scoring is an audacious longshot from that ginger left back.
We'll need a strong ref. Rush is bound to go over in the box once or twice at least. We don't want another Hoolahan situation. 2-0 to The Custard Boyz
John Barnes is the one to watch. No doubt he'll score against his previous club and stick two fingers up to the Rookery.
Z-Cars is Everton's tune. That's another mid-table club in the same area. Not sure why they stole Watford's theme-tune.
I've got a bad feeling about this one, we could be looking to hit four or five, but think people are underestimating Liverpool here and I think we might be getting complacent, I hope Flores will get them in the right frame of mind for the likes of Liverpool, but I actually think we'll struggle and win 2-1. We always concede to lumps like Benteke don't we? We're not going because we're saving our Christmas matches for Newcastle and Man City, who are proper big teams. Goals for Jurado and Ighalo.
