Another round of games, another round of defeats for our rivals. We’ve been chucked our 87th lifeline and this time we get to play the bottom team. I’m not sure if the inevitable defeat will be even more depressing or in fact liberating.
Missed opportunities by Bournemouth, Villa & us since the restart so we'll all be saying the same. It just comes down to there being four appalling sides in the league this season and if we really want to go through this again next year we just have to hope we're the fourth worst team.
Dare I remind everyone that in the reverse fixture, we didn't even play particularly well at all, and mostly relied on having Geri score a silly goal within the first two minutes? I'm honestly not sure who is a worse team at this exact moment in time. If we do manage a win, it will surely only be down to just how devastated they appear to be by injuries.
The caveat to that though, is that QSF was in charge. Any team who he could get a win over must be appalling. That said I don’t expect us to win.

Norwich play nicer football than us but are sporadic in attack and naive at best in defence. An early goal for us and it'll be easy street. An early goal for them and we could be very unstuck.
That's it - it's almost a miracle that we're not actually in the bottom 3. To be so bad, yet still have it in our hands is almost unbelievable. Tuesday really is the test as to whether there is any remaining spark or conscience in this dysfunctional squad.
If we are going to waste Will Hughes for the last few games he plays for us, I'd rather have him in goal where it will be the most entertaining.
If we don't win this one then we deserve/need to go down Anything but a win here and we may as well forfeit the remainder of the games
Must Must really MUST win game. 0-1. Minimal effort. Only Will Hughes breaks into a sweat. Troy waves his arms about. Ismail sulks. Capoue and Pereyra sleep.
As we’ve all seen, Norwich have multiple mistakes in them and always give you chances. They play out from the back. What we have to do is bleedin obvious, press them from the front line and in the midfield, force them to over play it, win the ball back and quickly break through Sarr. Yes they play pretty football but they are the worst team in the league. There really is no excuses not to be winning this game. They really are a very poor side. They know they are down, confidence is gone, we simply just have to score first. They will have one eye on rebuilding for next season, agents will be looking out for their assets and trying to makes moves to keep them in the Prem.
Would that make you happy ? When will you be happy ? If we get consecutive relegations to div 4 /League 2 will you be happy then ? Or would you save that joy until the club has fallen to amateur league and in administration? Would you then finally reach happiness ?
If Watford lose this then relegation is confirmed and the only acceptable response will be to wind the club up. Knock the ground down and forget it ever happened. Good riddance.
Yet again three teams below us do us a favour, this is not going to happen every week. Wellbeck up front , Deeney , capoue dropped At this point I would say chances of survival are 50%* , lose this and I think it will drop to 10% *Bournemouth and Aston Villa’s final games are harder than ours , but we are **** , I can also see one of them flunking a result but can put see us fluking any thing
It was hardly much of a favour this week. Norwich aside, the 3 of us in 17th, 18th and 19th played away at the teams in 4th, 1st and 5th and all lost. It was a completely and entirely predictable set of results.
This. The key matches are those in which the bottom sides are playing one another. I’m simultaneously nervous as **** about this game and pessimistically resigned to the fact that we’re either going to lose or draw when only a win will do. Taking the “burying my head in the sand” approach - not going to watch it or go on the Shoutbox.
Almost always, the final 5-10 games of a season prompts one or two teams who've been in the relegation mire all season, to suddenly play like a wounded beast and beat teams, throwing up all kinds of upsets. This season is the first that the 4 main candidates have all meekly surrendered (thus far at least). West Ham beating Chelsea, I suppose was an example.
I would say in normal circumstances with full stadiums etc this would be very true. Can’t help but feel the situation everyone finds themselves in at the moment has contributed to how pants the bottom 4 teams have been. In fact if anything I think it has helped highlight how far off the pace we all are. Whichever one of the four stays up this season has a lot of work on to ensure they don’t get a record low points tally next season.
Fair points. But whose fault is it for being off the pace? The Saints for instance have been right at it since the return.
I think the lack of crowds have made a big difference unfortunately. By definition the teams at the bottom are the ones failing the most, without a crowd to push them to run that extra 10%, chase down the opposition etc it makes a huge difference. It’s not really an excuse, because In our case it’s a symptom of the type of players we buy. All our managers struggle to motivate them beyond a certain point, take the crowd away and they get even worse.
The dude that makes the players all wear those monitoring vests. The one that has a 'team back in Italy' making sure everyone is behaving themselves from a fitness point of a view. The man in overall charge. The Technical Director.
It was suggested that the absence of a crowd booing our useless bunch of tossers would be a help, not a hindrance.
